2000s book series about an alien/clone/sci-fi experiment tween girl?

I had a flashback to a book stores I enjoyed as a tween and would like to find it again. I remember that the girl was some kind of something that wasn’t exactly normal or human, like a science experiment. I believe she found out in the first book and her parents and her were keeping it a secret from the town. Each book would have a different plot like I remember in one book she somehow gained the ability to read people’s thoughts. There was another one with a bunch of clones/people that looked like her infiltrating her area and her trying to keep it a secret. It was very Buffy, Alex Mac esque type series. I hope this is relatively easy to find and other people remember this series. Since my details are all over the place and skewed, google isn’t helping much. Thanks in advance.
