What type of musician does he become?
What's the location (country/region/city/small town)? Where is she when she witnesses the murder? Is there amnesia?

It's about a little girl who goes to meet up with her friend. He is late, while she is waiting for him to show she witnesses a man kill his wife for having an affair. She is so traumatized by it she goes home and quits talking and leaving the house. Meanwhile, the boy she was supposed to meet up with is also her brother's best friend. He stays a close friend with her even though she doesn't talk or leave the house. When they grow older he becomes a musician. They become involved romantically and she eventually heals enough to talk and leave the house. Something happens to him which leads to him leaving the music scene. He goes into hiding at a cabin by the lake and spends all his time drinking. She finds him and tries to help him.

While she is with him at a boat rental place at the lake she realizes the man at the rental place is also the same guy who killed his wife all those years ago.
