This looks so fantastic, Sophia! Great job organizing everything! I have a question about Austenesque - would you consider reads that are historical and similar to the style of Jane Austen to be Austenesque? Like books by Georgette Heyer or Julie Klassen? Or are you looking for straight up JAFF?
I was leaning more toward straight JAFF, but if you sense the flavor of Jane's work in the story then I have no problem with you including it. I just want this to be fun for everybody and not throw road blocks up to keep people from reading through what's on their shelves so close definitely counts in my book.
Hope that helped, Meredith!

Thank you! That does help! Working on my TBR. Looking forward to making a sizable dent with it this year! :)
Question: If I start off on a level and find that part of the way through the year I'm making way more progress than thought, could I jump up to a higher level? I know I could just keep reading after I hit, but I was just wondering if that was also an option. I.E. I read 2 JAFF this past weekend...literally over the weekend. Normally I don't have the time to do that, but it does happen at times.
Absolutely, Kaycie!
You can aim high to start or just start with one level and work your way up- whichever works best for you.

HI, I'll begin with Catherine Moreland, but may proceed to Mr Bennet . Mine are all Pride and Prejudice Related.
Wonderful, Ann!
Glad to see you tackling the high levels. And yes, most of mine will be P&P related too.

Hi Sophia, I want to do a blog post for this challenge, can I use the image of the girl walking while reading or is there a widget? Thanks for setting this up! It's going to be fun!
Hi Candy! It is totally fine to use the girl with the book
image. Here's the photobucket link (click on picture) for it:

Thank you!!
Sophia Rose, I have another question. Do new Austenesque books count with this challenge? or just older ones? I am trying to figure out my goal level. :) One of my problems getting to older Austenesque books, I tend to read the newer ones first, and sadly forget or not make time for the ones sitting on my shelf. haha! I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I have that trouble too, I confess. I was aiming for books already on the shelves, but I did deliberately not make that a rule b/c I figured that they were technically part of the TBR pile too once they were purchased, gifted, etc to the reader.
So yes, add all the new, cooler ones in. Haha!

Sure you can, Loren!
Just put your books and thoughts down under whichever challenge level you have picked. Glad you have you join us.

Ceri wrote: "Glad to know my blog sidebar helped somebody find this group! I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do :)"Thanks, Ceri - already am enjoying and adding where I can :) !
Yes, this is not a group for getting through your TBR, but rather adding to it! But the company is good :)
Haha, Ceri! We've fed our TBR piles super-fertilizer by joining together as a group. ;)
And so happy to have you join the fun, Sharon!

Sophia - Just to clarify for myself and others who may be new, JAFF stands for Jane Austen Fan Fiction? Is that right? Thanks
Hi Kate!
Glad to have you join us. I see you are member 100. *tosses virtual confetti into the air*
And I see Ceri answered your question already. It took me a while to realize that's what JAFF stands for and I had to laugh when I did b/c I thought it was an organization at first. ;)
Welcome to the challenge and I look forward to seeing you able to read several JAFF or Austenesque books that you enjoy. Make yourself at home!

The first time I saw it was in a review on Amazon and the reviewer had thoughtfully written it in full in brackets so I was saved confusion :)

Any form of book medium counts from graphic novel to audio book. So count it! :)

I have been doing a similar challenge but for 2015, many which includes JA or regency era books. Is it too late to join? may I include the JA related books I have read thus far or do I need to start from beginning when I join? Sophia wrote: "Challenge will begin January 1, 2015 and end December 31, 2015. People may join at any time.Anyone is welcome.

Hi Trish!
You surely can join us and include your already completed JA books as long as they were read after January 1st. Just do a comment post on the challenge level you are working at with the total year to date and go from there. If you have a shelf dedicated to your JA books, you're welcome to link to that so people can see what you read/plan to read. Glad to have you with us. Feel free to poke about and join in the discussions.

I am going to try for Anne Elliot Challenge but might be under Marianne Dashwood. With 2 jobs its been hard to get a chance to read as often as i used to. https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Hey, that's great. Whatever you get done is perfect. This isn't a challenge to add stress; it's just a way to help encourage you to get to some books you wanted to read anyway and have some fun chatting about them with other folks. ;)
On to Marianne Dashwood and maybe Anne Elliot!

Thanks for doing this! I have so many books on my real shelves that need reading or finishing. Will get my virtual shelf up which will be at least Anne Elliot.
You are most welcome, Danine. I love having everyone come together to share a challenge. Best of luck with Anne Elliot and getting to those books on your shelf. :)
But make sure you follow the link to the 2016 Group and join there so you can be with the current group: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

Hi Trish!
I'll give you the direct link for the virtual shelves on the 2016 group page.

Here you go. Just add your shelf link in the commends and label it. Look forward to seeing what you've got.

Anyone is welcome.
Readers need to choose their challenge level and share choice in their introduction comment. Readers may progress to a new level at any time.
Level One Caroline Bingley: 1-5 books
Level Two Marianne Dashwood: 6-10 books
Level Three Anne Elliot: 10-20 books
Level Four Catherine Morland: 20-50 books
Level Five Mr. Bennet: 50+ books
Set up a location to track your reading challenge. This can be by creating a specific shelf here on GoodReads or on your blog.
After challenge begins, go into your chosen reading level here and update either with a list of the books you have read or a link to your update posted elsewhere. I would recommend updating on a monthly basis.
Readers are encouraged to review each book read so other readers can see what you thought of the book, but this is not mandatory.
Readers are also encouraged to cheer on each other, comment or ask about books other challengers have read.
Recommendations may be added to the BookShelf. Please only add personal recommendations and not use this as a place to promote.
Share about the challenge with your book buddies and feel free to cross promote.
