Jonathan White | 3 comments remember a book from my early teenage years (would have been mid/late 90's).

Cover had a fighter pilot with an open canopy, black hair, moustache. possible other pictures around. was a hardback without slip cover. was in english

Possibly called Heros of World war II, or stories from World War II

Had a page or two about 'heroic' people from world war 2 (Ernie Pyle - War Correspondent, Guy Gibson, Witold Pilecki - man who broke into Auschwitz , Female SOE agent, Rochard Sorge - Triple agent who reported to USSR operation Barbarossa, Anne Frank).

Think i saw at the library another in the series might have been Tales of Freedom fighters

Many thank in advance

A few guesses:

- Heroes of World War II: The Men and Women Who Won the War by Tom Bower?
Here's one cover image on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Heroes-World-W...

- "Heros and Heroines of World War II" (1995) by Irene Lythgoe Belue?
https://www.worldcat.org/title/heros-...

Sample search -- https://www.worldcat.org/advancedsearch > Subject: world war 1939 | Title: heros | 1950-2005 ? | Not juvenile | Non-Fiction | English

Jonathan White | 3 comments Neither of those I'm afraid, think it had less pages, mixture of photos and illustrations

The atlantic battle between the HMS Jervis Bay and the Admiral Scheer (VC awarded to Edward Fegen posthumously)
