I remember reading it in college several decades ago, something about a blue light. It's not my kind of book as I gather we're supposed to feel sad for these rich healthy young white people which (obviously) I have trouble doing. But of course it is an "Everyone" classic and so with the support of a group I'll try to read it with an open mind. Glad it's short.

I'm considering if I would like to participate too. It is unread on my shelf, but NaNoWriMo is just around the corner and I just don't know how much I'm going to read. I already know the movie (who does not) and I really want to read the book for so long.
I am new to this group and I want to jump right in on this one. I have never read the Great Gatsby and I have never seen the movie. I am currently an almost 60-year-old English major (minor in Creative Writing) and I am reading a lot of the classics for the first time. This one isn't assigned for this semester, but I still want to follow along!
I have read this more times then I can remember. My first time was in High School. I hated it. I reread it for several book clubs hoping to find what everybody saw in the book. I never did. So I am passing this time but may join the discussion.
This is one that everyone talks about as a classic so I’m interested to give it a go. Hopefully I’ll enjoy it!
I read this one awhile ago, and I don't remember much of it, except that I rated it 3/5, and I was more generous with my ratings back then than I am now. I don't plan to read it again.
I read this book for English Lit at school. And thoroughly disliked it.I read it again last year... and come and join me over in the Spoilers discussion to see what I thought :)
I'm so glad this was picked, I've been meaning to read it since forever and it's relatively short, which suits me a lot right now :) Can't wait to get started.
I read The Great Gatsby for the first time in junior high. My mom was taking night classes at a community college and was writing a paper on how three different generations in the same family would interpret the book. I was the youngest generation. I remember liking it back then, although I couldn't tell you why. I am excited for the reread to see if I like it as much as I remember.
I’m going to start this tonight. I’ve never read the book, but I have watched the movie and I loved it so I’m looking forward to this read!
This will be a re-read for me, but the first time I read it maybe I was too young and callow to understand why everybody was thrilled by it. I didn't 'get it' at all.
Our teacher had this for reference material in writing class, but she only took excerpts from the book. This will be my first time reading the whole thing, even though I know the story already. I'm happy it was picked!
I am not planning to reread this one, but have read it when I was younger. I did read Z for Zelda last year and it put some perspective on the influence, etc. I sought out more information following about the Fitzgeralds after that read.
