Countdown to Burned Release
You think part of the reason Barrons wanted Mac so much is because of his competition? That everyone else seemed to want her to and as the Alpha he had to win? Also the way she looks, before he started seeing other things in her that drew him towards deeper feelings? I still feel like it isn't enough, there has to be SOME reason for the connection that they have. Maybe Dani and Mac's family lines are a piece of the puzzle that fits into the origins of the nine, and that's part of what makes these girls so interesting and amazing to them.
I don't think Kasteo's story is that important at this point. It would be fascinating but I can't lose focus on all the characters and their stories. LOL.I think Barrons and Mac just had this chemistry. I think it started out just like most...physical. He couldn't understand why he liked her when she is soft and pink but she called to him.

whoa June let's just calm down, you couldn't get into them!? I've read them a few times, or okay maybe read them completely the first time and skimmed during my rereads. I thought the big pink layered birthday cake with the sixes on top was super cute, Barrons face lol Especially since he rushed back when she told him about it. And I thought it was really sweet when she was pri-ya and he sent up a Christmas tree and pimped out his lair with lights, dancing with Mac to her music and showing her pictures of her family (even if to remind her and bring her back from the state she was in, it showed he cared, knew her, and was listening to her). And when Mac first found out about Dani's connection to her sister and he was trying to give Mac advice and talk her through it.
I agree, Kristen. I love all of those things that he did.
Love the Mac Halo scene when she was dancing around and singing bad moon rising and Barrons comes in. He also set up the bookstore to the way she likes it after it was destroyed, with her TV, register, and Ipod. Hey Dani noticed Mac wasn't wearing her helmet anymore. I wonder what changed to where she doesn't need to worry about the shades? Well we know they don't eat fae, and they don't bother the nine, for whatever reason.
Maybe it has something to do with all of the ZEWs following her around. Maybe no shades or anything would follow her. LOL.
Kristen you are reminding me of lots of things but i really could not get into Mac. The best part of the series is when she becomes Black Mac, after pri-ya. when she starts becoming a little tougher, before that she was inept about everything. But even after Pri-ya I was really pissed at her because Barrons did the impossible brought her back from Pri-ya, the only person in history which really the most memorable thing about her character, she still rides the rails on him. never giving him her trust completely.it seemed so unbelievable that she thinks she is 'player' in this end of the world scenario, going up against these immortals and she thinks she can hold her own. playing them against each other, it seemed so unrealistic to me.
Maybe these particular fae recognize a piece of their creator in Mac, or they're waiting for the book to take over and kill a bunch of people because they feel on death or corpses or something? Since killing them has a really odd reaction, like in a way makes them stronger. And they all hang out with each other which the Unseelie don't typically do.
June I agree with you completely about Mac. I have ranted on her character in my previous posts and I could go on and on about it. I could probably write my own mini story just about my negative thoughts, feelings, frustration, and annoyances with Mac. I hated when ever Barrons did something amazing for her she just said it's because he wasn't done using her when finding a book he couldn't touch wasn't all that important. Yet when he found that out he continued to hunt and play alone with what Mac wanted. He has done EVERYTHING for her and what's the only thing she can give back? Oh yea admitting she's hot for him and then falling through with it. And yea she even made V'lane a fairy PRINCE into her lap dog, asking him to perform medial tasks all because she's sOo attractive. She was whiny and vain, and weak, and rude, and snarky, and relayed on everyone else protecting her and doing everything for her just because she's Mac and they should, her problems were so much bigger then anyone elses. She never took responsibilities, she was blind and naïve, in denial, and on and on. And she blamed Barrons for what happened with her and the princes because he wasn't around, even though he was doing a favor for HER, and she was the one who decided to go out and walk the streets instead of staying in the bookstore until her protector came back.

if we are centered around mac and barons for the rest of the story....i just want them to act more mature with each other not just sexually experimental. LOL I want to feel like Mac is not the same person she was 5 books ago.
I want to read about conversations like, ' Barrons where the hell to you go in the afternoons?" and actually get a real reply instead a head nod cut to the side.
I like hard core kick butt Mac, do what she has to do. Actually I kind of like the side of Mac that Darroc brought out, the colder version. Changed and evolved from her experiences and self involvement. Barrons and Mac are FINALLY together I'd like to see an actual couple relationship between them and the things they've admitted to each other and how it has changed, some progression for their characters both separate and moving toward something together.I also want to feel like Mac isn't the same person she was 2 books ago lol

I want them to call each other Mac and Jerico, and be able to say ANY of their emotions out loud, not just "I love you", but any of the things they feel into words, though I know Barrons isn't fond of words. I'd like them to be able to hug once in awhile or show some sign of affection other then screwing each other. And have more "real" conversations without Mac resorting to some petty irrelevant comment, and one's that last longer then 2 mins.
i just feel like Barrons would say something like "I play poker with the guys in the afternoon, except Thursdays. Thursdays I eat small children and the elderly."And calling them by their names would be cool too. real cool.
Yea the times Barrons showed his feelings lol Like his love for Mac when his beast pee'd circles around her and tired her sweater to one of his back legs. How cute was it he collected her stuff? And made sure she followed him to a safer spot. Mac's "guardian beast friend". He killed food for her, like Mac was really gonna chew on some animal bones lol He left her the paws.

Okay so the UK and Cruce hinted to make the fae (seelie) princesses are gone and to balance things out need to be replaced. How would that work for her exactly? She as a piece of the UK built into her very essence and DNA and the fae juice making her immortal, and she has spent some time in fairy, sOo? Cruce was already Unseelie and the book just makes him more powerful, but Mac? What does that make her, and why was her family line so special? I just don't see her hand freeze power as such a great and special thing. First of all she has to touch them, and they can sift her, secondly most of them know she can do it now, and it only lasts a few seconds. V'lane showed her a glimpse of his true nature and what he looks like that humans can't handle and she was able to survive. And Dani spent years in faery and has weird powers and a special family tree (though her mother was evil an unremarkable), so maybe she is turning into something too. I wonder if Mac asked V'Kluck what Barrons and his men are if he'd know?

Man, Barrons was the man. I actually liked Mac for the first three fever books. I mean sure she was shallow, but she worked her shallowness and it was still reasonably charming. Lol, I actually liked her less after 'Black Mac' or whatever bullshit. I was shocked that Mac could go through something traumatic like becoming a priya and end up becoming stupider at the end. Like how? She started regressing in maturity by overestimating herself, and underestimating everyone else. Like in the Abby when she was acting like a baby just cause the sidhe seers weren't falling at her feet and swearing fealty to her.As well as the constant blame game she started playing... :x
And I got so sick of the versions of Mac, version; 1.0, 2.0,3.0,4.0, 4.25 lol. Like can you stop? And instead of actually using more foresight and maturing she just spent half the book saying she was sooo different. But she wasn't! She was still stupid.
LOL. I kept wishing Barrons and Vlane would stop saving her, and let her by lynched.

V'lane said they were more alike then any other two people in the world, and that Mac was starting to smell like him fae, becoming like him. I want to know if the UK and Mac will have a scene together, since in the fae sense she's more like a daughter then any of his other creations.

lmfao omg damn Fresiako! I agree! Black Mac was almost worse! Mac right after being priya was barely tolerable, the thing that most pissed me off was how she was trying to take over the abbey, like who do you think you are! lol like everyone's going to flock to your side when you've only known you were sidheseer for a couple of months and have been known to do some really dumb shit. Like bringing V'lane into the abbey. or killing a sidheseer by being clumsy.
Not to mention when she is convinced she is the Unseelie King! LOL someone knock that chick down a peg or twenty!
I found the proclamations of a new version of herself to be hilarious, like every time she went through some shit she'd be like YUP, JUST GOT UPGRADED. I'm into black leather now! shit's COMPLETELY different!

I really liked their scenes. And didn't he already tell her that she's his child? More like a favorite daughter lol.
At the end of Shadowfever when he brought her and Cruce to a place in faery (or another world) to sort or some issues, she asked why they're the only ones there and he said "children". She didn't like what that implied. And he wanted over her throughout the years, so I don't exactly know his thoughts and feelings when it concerns Mac. He looked at Cruce with parental pride, and Mac too.

Yea lol Mac thought she was special because she was so gorgeous and her parents spoiled her, then because she could find the book and had Barrons, then because she's the concubine, then she's definitely the KING. And she told the book it had to do what she said because she created it, I laughed everytime she talked about her other parts lol Oh and how she threatened the fae (seelie and Unseelie) in Chester's twice because she had the spear, and then Ryodan with it. And nudged Lor with her shoulder trying to knock him aside because she insisted on seeing her parents because Barrons was the boss of them.
And the thing is, in the world their living in you'd think a human girly like her would be happy to come by power, immortality and healing quickly. She complained about all of it, like nOo say it ain't so, I refuse to believe it, it can't be!.
I remember that! She acted like she was the boss of the nine since she was with barrons. UHHHH! I want to kill her again. Why are all of you reminding of how much i hated her when she is 90 percent of the next book. You are killing my book vibe!

Yea Fresiako I know exactly what you're referring to, Mac talked in circles. And she'd go back and forth back and forth. She wanted so desperately to believe Darroc killed her sister, even though he had no reason to and kept telling her that, and trying to explain things, she just didn't want to believe it, or that her sister loved him, she had to be tricked. And then finally when she was looking through the pics of them together she admitted they loved each other, and given time her sister would of came back to him, and joined him. I'd like to see Mac do some sacrificing for Barrons, make herself useful to their relationship, and prove her love by her actions. I can't think of anything she did for him that hasn't benefited her.
Barrons didn't even know about her inner demon until the end right? When he pushed in her head? Lor said they tell each other pretty much everything. Mac wondered if they'd lock her up, I'd say um YES no one but Barrons loves or wants you that much.
lmfao OMG yes there was paragraphs and paragraphs filled with her questions! Like it could go on for two whole pages literally only questions non stop! Her inner dialogue slowed down the action in the books so muchI get why she questioned him and his motives, but at one point it was just toooo much. He brought her back from being priya and she blamed him for it. I can understand why she was upset, I truly do. But it was almost as if she was more mad at BARRONS than her rapists! I also hated how everyone treated Mac's rape, like with Barrons saying he thought she'd had enough fae in her mouth to last her a lifetime.. shit was low. And V'lane was like well shit, look how strong you are now, what's the problem?
She knew barely anything about the book but was like fuck it, I'll tear this world apart and just build a new one where shit's fantastic and I get to see Barrons again! I don't even remember her mentioning any plans to stop Alina from being killed?? I think that was actually when she was the most powerful and probably when I liked her the best even though she was being beyond stupid.
In all honesty, Mac should be locked away LOL she has the freakin sinsar dubh in her! I'm surprised Barrons isn't more concerned
He might be concern about that book in her. That could be where he is going. Looking for answers to help her.
And he's training with her, though I don't know what kind that would help in this situation. When she killed one of Jayne's men (so she thinks but doesn't seem to remember), she said she had to find a way to make that right, but how exactly can she do that? She also mentioned bringing Alina back, in so many words, and fixing a lot of things, but yea Barrons was the priority when she was talking about rebuilding the world. Actually Christian wasn't thankful all the things she did to save him, like he had so many other options, instead he hates and blames her, and Jayne wasn't thankful she taught him to eat unseelie or the information she gave him that kept his family, men and their families alive, instead he sort of blamed her for showing him things he didn't want to see, and knowing things he didn't want to know. Her parents certainly didn't tell her many many things, that could of potentially helped early on, seems they could never say no to Alina, or Mac. So it kind of makes sense she has issues accepting her part in things, thanking people, and putting them blame everyone else, and that she always thought she was the queen bee, it's what she knows. Yet it's still annoying.

To me it isn't just an odd impossible thing, as Dani being a similar species as the nine. Only a lot young thousands of years later, because she has heightened senses and she's fast. Maybe a descendent of their family tree? Some people believe that, Kasteo becoming mute for a thousand years and chilling staring off into space pinning after what once was isn't just a big surprise or shocker.
