Countdown to Burned Release
It doesn't like Lor or any of the nine care that Dani knows. They always move move the way they'd normally move in front of her.
I don't know if I believe they let us live because she is harder to kill. Ryodan wouldn't see it as a threat but because she help Barrons and that's his woman, she is skating on by. I think there is a certain level of respect that they have for Dani that they didn't have for Mac. They like her. She is a pain right now but they like her. So yeah, she knows their secret.
Yeah, I think Dani has powers that will allow her to become (not exactly part) but an appendage and equal to the nine. Ryo has been studying her for years. All the men know this and have been keeping an eye on her. Ryo is keeping her safe so he can use her as a weapon, and if things unfold right, I think he wants her to be his woman and his equal to fight beside him. Not to say there probably won't be opposition; of course there will! I personally think Mac will be the No. 1 opposition to Dani even spending time with Ryodan! When Dani and Mac make up, I think Mac will be seething that Ryodan has been exerting so much influence over Dani.Agreed with everyone that it would be soooo cheesy if each of the nine got a book.
Samantha wrote: "I hope I am not reading this wrong and correct me if I am. The whole rule thing is kind of up in the air since Mac knows about them. They haven't killed her yet. Barrons won't allow it since he has..."Dani knows about them as well since she saw the CH kill both Ryodan and Barrons. Plus, Ryodan has been protecting her for years. His men thought they should have killed Dani when they first saw that she could move like them and when they learned she had the sword.

Lol
Samantha wrote: "I think there is a certain level of respect that they have for Dani that they didn't have for Mac. They like her. She is a pain right now but they like her. Refresh my memory from Iced, I don't remember it all that well... Dani doesn't know all of the secret, does she? I know that she is aware that they move differently (even faster than her!), but does she know that they can't die? I didn't think that she knew that, but maybe I forgot.

KimeyDiann wrote: "Samantha wrote: "I think there is a certain level of respect that they have for Dani that they didn't have for Mac. They like her. She is a pain right now but they like her. So yeah, she knows thei..."She does because Ryodan and Barrons were killed in front of her.
Yep. She had that big emotional (my fav scene) scene with him in his office after she realizes he was alive.
Oh heck, that scene was a wild emotional roller coaster. When Dani asked Ryodan if Barrons is alive as well, he said yes.Oh and there was one scene where Dani almost outed Ryodan's immortality to Jo (the campfire music scene). Ryodan freeze framed her away and told her Jo can't know because the others will kill her. Dani asked him how come SHE gets to know. Ryodan didn't answer her.
About granting Dani immortality. After she learned he couldn't die she asked him how and wanted whatever he's got [that gave him immortality]. He told her to ask him again when she's older. So it's clear Ryo has the intention of keeping her, Just wasn't clear on HOW.
I am figuring out that I don't remember a whole lot about Iced! I read it in a day while I was home sick when it first came out and haven't looked at it since. I'm doing a complete series reread right now and judging by how little I remember from Iced, it should be like reading it for the first time again! LOL. I do remember the freeze frame scene at the campfire now that you reminded me, Cookie! But I am coming up blank on her witnessing Ryo and Barrons die.
So, when Ryodan tells Dani to ask him about the immortality again when she's older, do you think that is because he plans on making her immortal or that he was being cynical and meaning that when she gets older she may not really want immortality?
I'm leaning toward the former, because he was also asking "testy" questions like, "You don't know what it is, yet you'd take it sight unseen" or "and if there was a price" [for that immortality]. It is as if he is probing early to see how willing she is about being immortal. When you get to that part, you'll know what I mean :)
KimeyDiann, Ryo and Barron's died when Dani and Christian escaped from fairy or wherever and they let out the Crimson hag.
Going back to the immortality thing, I think she will probably not want to live forever in the manner they do but she will want it.
I don't think they can make her immortal I think by having sex with there woman they life longer and for that reason get older then the res of us!! And stay and look younger remember Fio Mac says she looks thirty but might be 50?
Cookie wrote: "Facebook usually hides many posts on the time to save us scrolling time, so that could be it. Have you tried looking for it on the computer instead of a smartphone?"Yeah, I tried to look for it on the computer also, no luck. I think she has removed it. And looking at the answer she gave you, I'm quite sure she removed it now. It will all be a secret until the release date. There is now even more for us to look forward to. :)
Inanda wrote: "I don't think they can make her immortal I think by having sex with there woman they life longer and for that reason get older then the res of us!! And stay and look younger remember Fio Mac says s..."I don't think having sex with one of the nine gives people longer lives or makes them look younger. I'm rereading Darkfever right now and Mac describes Fiona as a "full-bosomed, elegant woman... [who] had once been stunning in the way of movie-star divas of old. In her early fifties... Though time and gravity had traced the supple skin of youth with the lines of fine parchment and creased her brow, this woman would always be beautiful, right up to the day she died."
I think Fio was a stunning woman before Barrons came along... that is probably what attracted him to her in the first place.
Besides, if that were true, Mac would have been an infant again by the time she was no longer priya! LOL.
Y'all are making me want to skip ahead and reread Iced now and forget about reading the entire series in order! I remember the Crimson Hag and even how she was released, but for the life of me I cannot remember her killing Barrons and Ryodan! I must have blocked it out! LOL.
Yes you definitely block it out she hangs them on there inthralls! And Ryodan and Barron's crack a joke before they die! Something in the line of I am gonna kill the kid and then Ryodan tells Barron's to get in line! The white Mansion chapter is my favored in the book.Dani and Christian is so funny in it!! I love it where she opens the bottle and she says it smells like sunshine on Dancers skin. Then Christian smells it and he say it is bloody noxious ? Something like that and Dani tells him his sense of smell is going Unsilee !! It is just such a fun chapter!
KimeyDiann wrote: "Y'all are making me want to skip ahead and reread Iced now and forget about reading the entire series in order!..."Do it! I think re-reading Iced first and then starting Fever from book one would be a great way to do it:)
Yeah, I doubt that sex with the nine prolongs mortal lifespan, but I wonder if Ryo has some weird healing powers that he uses on the women he sleeps with. We know he healed Dani a few times in Iced if I remember right (without her knowing?). But remember how Jo describes how the waitresses look the night after? Super glowing and crap? I think after he sleeps with them he gives them a little extra health or something. Did anyone get that impression?
Little Feather wrote: "KimeyDiann wrote: "Y'all are making me want to skip ahead and reread Iced now and forget about reading the entire series in order!..."Do it! I think re-reading Iced first and then starting Fever ..."
I don't think he heals just through sex as we are certain he did not sleep with Dani when he healed her-Thank God. But I think you may be on to something regarding the the women he sleeps with. He doesn't seem like the best sexual partner to have (because of the position he obviously prefers) but the women seem to reardless act better afterwards, so yeah... I'm with you on this :)
Ryo and Barrons both have healing powers of some sort, I don't know if it is from druid magic or it is a power all of the nine have... but, after a mind-blowing night with someone as skilled as Ryodan must be, I imagine I'd be glowing and walking on cloud nine for a while afterwards as well! ;) LOL.

I'm about 65% into Darkfever. I may skip ahead to Iced with I finish it just so I can carry on the conversation with you lovely ladies better!
lol. THAT can wait a few years, when she's, say, 19, for example ;).Speaking of dani being 19 (which she will be in Burned), how do you think she's going manage such a jump in age?
A time machine. Definitely a time machine.lol, no, jk, I myself think her getting stuck in faerie would be such a cop out. I hope that KMM just gives us snippets of her over the years and then we read in more detail when she is 19. I mean, we need to see her grow and mature mentally and emotionally, not just physically. Maybe in Burned we will see her from 14-16 (her falling in love with Dancer, losing her virginity, being betrayed by Dancer, then beginning to feel attraction to Ryodan) then in the next book it could be her from 17 to 19, when she fully comes into her powers and is more mature and she and Ryodan get together and kick lots of unseelie butt.
she is going to jump to 19 in one book, little feather. Therefore, I'm thinking that for a while, she will be growing through the book to show us that she is maturing at a normal rate of any teenager. She will show us her emotional maturity. Then I think she will get stuck in faery for a stint. I don't think it will be all five years in faery because that would suck and we wouldn't see any progress in her attitude about certain things.
Well, she could be like Christian and get lost in the Silvers for five years (poor Dani), and when she gets back out it will only have been a few months. thats the most plausible scenario to me at this point.
That could be but it would be sucky. When you are in faery, you think it is a short time but when you come out, you realize a lot of time has passed. Therefore, she would come out with her same old attitude and immaturity. She would be the same as when she went in. No emotional and mental maturity.
Yup, and the Silvers work the other way: you may go in there for a long time, but when you get out, not much time in real life has passed :). I don't really see any benefit to her character arc if Dani goes into Faery instead.
Yeah either way, I think one of the things that I look forward to is her going through some of the growing pains. The struggle with her emotions regarding these three men. Her learning to fight harder and trust those around her. Her seeing things differently through her experiences. I won't get that if she is gone for a hot minute and come back all grown. LOL
I love that Samantha. Since Dani is 14, her transformation from a graceless adolescent into a matured young woman would be something to witness! It's too bad that we wouldn't be able to experience that emotional growth fully in Burned because of the frequency of Mac's POV.On a side note, I would love to see the way Ryodan's perception of her changes, from looking at her through the eyes of a mentor, to looking at her as a man would look at his woman.
True but we aren't going to get his POV...but we might see his reactions through Mac. That would help with all her chatter. LOL.
Hahaha, yup. That's the only thing that makes me look forward to her POV. Sorry Mac but Dani just kicks petunias more :D
Cookie wrote: "Hahaha, yup. That's the only thing that makes me look forward to her POV. Sorry Mac but Dani just kicks petunias more :D"Agreed!
I doubt this will happen, but it would be interesting if Ryodan got stuck in faery for a few years, and when he came back, Dani was all grown up, kickbutt and gorgeous! That would be sooo cool to read through his eyes :) But yeah, don't think we will get Ryo's perspective.
That is a cool thought, Little Feather. Though, we would have to see how he acts through others eyes. He might be more beastly. LOL.
Ooh, I like the idea of Ryodan being stuck in Faery and coming back to a grown up Dani! I don't really think that is what will happen, but oh so fun to imagine his reactions! I really kinda figure we'll have a "five years later" heading to a chapter. I really want to see Dani grow and change, so if KMM does just skip five years, I really hope she gives us flashbacks of what happened to Dani in that time period.

To my understanding, they want to kill Mac, but since she is extremely hard to kill, they are giving her a stay of execution. Plus there is a little grudging respect since she was able to help Barrons' son. I doubt the issue is closed. I'm sure their desire to kill Mac in order to protect their secret is weighing very heavily on each of them.
