But instead of asking all of the people that read the book what they think, it's probably easier to ask just the one that actually answers :)

It wasn't so bad at first because you'd be looking forward to the release date.. but then she changed it like 20 times! I've probably read iced about a million times I literally can't count.
I'm expecting bare minimum amounts of Dani but I love her so much even the smallest parts will be worth the read.

Yes Melissa Tea we have suffered a long time!! Since 2012 then 2013 and 2014 now it's nearly in our hands. I think the wait will be worth our while! I am trusting KMM !!! Even if she let us down in the release date of this book!! She have never let us down with her writing !!
I know! I can't believe we've been waiting years and it's only literally a WEEK AWAY!!!I have no doubt Dani'scenes will be worth the wait! the only thing that concerns me is that there won't be as many as I'd like.
Looking forward to Lor's pov too, and hey maybe I'll like Mac better in this book

Dani would never blame Ryodan, I think she probably would never expect for him to save her because she doesn't ever think she needs saving.
Dani doesn't even blame her mother for chaining her up like a DOG and leaving her to die.
I think Ryodan should feel a lot of remorse or like at least really bad about it! IF she went into the silvers to "hide out for awhile" from him and ended up trapped there for FIVE years with her childhood ripped away!
Either way she'd been (probably alone) fighting for her life for a hellish amount of time, when he'd set himself up to do that job. (even if she doesn't accept it)

I did give it 3 stars but I devoured it like a 5 star book.. 3 stars doesn't mean I hated it. I enjoyed it a lot, I just had a lot of issues with it as well. I think a lot of that has to do with my expectations going in. I thought this was a Dani book. It wasn't. It's a Mac book. Mostly.

If Dani went to feary she wanted to be alone. If she run away she wanted to be alone. Dani is not a girl that will be all 'oh I am all alone please Ryodan come and help me'. No way that's not the Mega as long as she is not in a cage , the mega will enjoy her time in feary new things to see and learn. Time to be her own boss and grow up. To fight and get stronger she is not stuck in feary for 5 human years but feary years!! She grows up and only a few months pass in human time!

I just wanted to say I really liked your review. It seemed like you at least took a moment to process what you read and how your perceived it. 3..4..5 stars more than anything i want honest takes on it.

It does sound like it from that Mac POV but it also sounds like Dani wanted to leave? She new they can not find her in feary??

Do you think Dani fans will be ultimately disappointed, going into it knowing Mac's the primary narrator?
yeah in Iced she even says she could hide out in faery for awhile because he can't track her. Five years would have to pass for Dani while only a few months? weeks? pass for everyone else. But ultimately it will be five years for her in thereI think she'll flourish, she'll probably see it as some wicked cool way to test herself everyday instead of some horrifying impending death sentence (which is why I love her) lol

hahaha the chosen one.. :) I'll take it!I think if you go into it knowing not to expect Dani at the centre then you can enjoy it more. I think I'll enjoy it more on a second read through. Though that wasn't my only issue with it. I think my biggest issue now that I've talked through things with a few super fans is that she opened up all these storylines and resolved only 1 by the end. This just didn't feel like a complete book. We're left on several cliffhangers. It certainly makes me more excited for the next book though!

Shannon, don't worry. I don't give out four and five star ratings easily. I am very honest with how I feel about a book. So 3 stars is a good rating to me.

I broke down and read your review. I thought it was a very well thought out and didn't give away any major plot points thanks to the spoiler tags (which is why I was a little afraid to read it, I don't want any spoilers).
I'm in the minority of the people in this forum, I don't mind a Mac POV... even though she has been a little annoying in my most recent re-read... she tends to go on and on and on sometimes when she just needs to act.
I'm sorry to see you didn't think the book was worth the wait. That has been one of my worries with this book too. It has been almost 3 years since Iced was published, so Burned should be majorly kick-ass... I've been trying (and failing) to keep my expectations low because I don't want to be disappointed. I think reading your review has helped me to lower my excitement level a little.
You mentioned that the book doesn't really have an ending. This plays into my theory of why we are getting Feverborn just a few months after Burned... Burned & Feverborn were originally one book. In order to please her fans' concerns about Dani and so many wanting more Mac, she had to redo some stuff and add in new filler. This made the book too long (according to her publishers most likely) so they split it in half. That is just my humble theory. This also could explain why you felt the book was "lazy" in parts.

I am 100 percent with your theory on why the next one is coming out so soon. But i also think if it gets bad reviews it will be delayed-- to add more content versus fluff. I do think for some reason Moning was pressured to change her book series scheme. that's just my opinion.

I agree June. I think there were too many complaints about Dani's age, blah, blah, blah that they brought Mac back.
There are also a LOT of fans that didn't read Iced because there was no Mac/Barrons and they didn't enjoy Dani's POV in earlier books. I think that fact and the controversy around Dani's age caused her (or her publishers) to change the focus of the series. Which is really sad to me because I've read in multiple interviews about the Fever Series that the entire thing came to KMM in a dream, fully formed. As much as I want the world to continue, maybe she should have stopped at Shadowfever as she initially planned. Maybe the story isn't coming to her as easily as the first 5 books did and that is causing a decrease in quality.

Feel bad for Moning, she created 2 characters that she obviously loves and never anticipated for their to be such negativity towards either.
Its weird and i am thinking way too much about this book right now-- but I really have a bad feeling regarding the Barrons and mac fans. Moning has a lot of pressured placed on her regarding them, it has been awhile since there has been anything new written about them. People are going to want to see huge developments with them I think as a couple. No one is going to want the same old thing.

Ehem, I actually don't care what KMMs Mac fans feel, they had five books plus this. I wouldn't care if Mac disppeared for two books and Barrons went after her. If KMM goes bankrupt because of her Mac fans (which I doubt) She could move to Scandinavia and live with me :) I would support her while she wrote about Dani and Ryodan. :)

LOL, and that is the wonderful thing about this world: I'm sure there are plenty of Mac fans that feel this way about Dani fans. I love the passion everyone has about this series and its characters! :D

I hate middle book syndromeKimey, I feel like the most readers don't even like Dani, if you go on facebook they all think she's irritating. (though from what I can tell these are usually older women who want the steamy romance)
Some people refused to even pick it up bc she was narrating it. I'd say the fanbase is split 80% Mac and 20% Dani. A lot of people read the fever series for it's smoking hotness and BARRONS, and others read it for the whole atmosphere and plot.
I think that's what makes the difference between Team Mac and Team Dani.
I don't get involved in the comments on facebook, but I'm sure you are correct about the split fan base, Melissa. I'm not on either team personally. I love the world and all of the characters, even Jo. Nothing is ever quite what it seems and that is true for the characters as well.
Karen said once that Iced was one of her best sellers. And I can't imagine we are getting that accurate view of the fanbase just based on her fb page. And there are actually more reviews for Iced than SF on Amazon. And check this ou.. so it's kind of hard to believe that it was pushed on KM because as long as sales are flying they don't care! yeah I only read comments when the whole Mac being primary character bomb dropped. Probably not the best time to do that loland wow Sbcurious I didn't know that! I hate that there is such a divide, I think more (not all) people would've been happier if Dani just stayed the primary narrator with Mac coming close in second.
I feel like K Mo's trying to reopen Mac and Barron's relationship a little bit more than what's necessary.
like by tossing in a betrayal, does that even appeal to ANYONE? surely not to Mac & Barrons fans! she should give us Mac's pov to see how her and Barrons' relationship stays strong. More issues with them just make it seem stale.

And there are actually more reviews for Iced..."The problem with these rankings is that they are current rankings, not all time. Of course Iced is ranked higher right now, it is the newer book. As far as looking at number of reviews of a series, that is usually skewed as well. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for number of ratings for the Fever Series on Amazon.

I for one very rarely write reviews and I feel positive I'm not the only one.
its difficult to go by strict sales too. Iced was the first book she had written in years, many picked it up just because it was Moning. My thoughts are after some of the poor commentary regarding it I think publishers and Moning herself, thought that if she kept it the current order sales might plummet with Burned. Book sales in general are down, there are very few writers that can call their own shots and say I write what I want. They all have guidelines and things are expressed in their contracts to include sale numbers that must be met. I just think the Mac marketing campaign was too blunt for it not to be a factor in the change up of the books. In the long run it might pan out for the storyline making it better, I have no idea. I think a lot of anger had to do with Moning expressly saying she would not change from Dani's view...to Mac will have some voice...to its about 50 percent...and then when the actual book jacket became available it was Mac is 75 percent the VOICE of the book. She had been writing it for years so she knew what the split was going to be, why wait until 5 months until the book is released to acknowledge it? That's where things got tricky with her dueling fan base.

But it seems very weird to have all of these Mac books, 1 Dani book, then back to a Mac book again. Imagine in 10-20 years when someone stubles upon this series how confusing that will seem. They won't have a clue about all of the drama that went on behind the scenes with KMM's fans and all of the dirty emails she got about Dani that (in my opinion) caused the shift of focus.
