Countdown to Burned Release
for everyone that got a taste of some spoilers..were you happy with the spoiler info? still torn about buying it or library waiting. some moments i feel like i would pay more for an early glimpse of the book and then other moments i feel after reading it i will hate myself for paying for the book. lot of anxiety over this release...and it s just a FREAKING book!
June, if you are (view spoiler), then by all means, buy the book. But if not, then i suggest you check it out at the library first, see if you like it or not, then buy it later.
Cookie wrote: "June, if you are [spoilers removed], then by all means, buy the book. I am hoping Moning can some how pull her divided fans together by producing a book that does that. It seems like her fan base is very divided and my hope in whatever she writes she can unite Team Dani or Team Mac. I think it is imperative that is accomplished for the rest of the series to be successful critically and financially.
I hope as well that I'm not going to be disappointed. I've invested so much in this friggin' book. And yes, I agree on the divisiveness of the fanbase. Half wants Mac, and the other half wants Dani. She'll have to find a balance. (Actually, I'd rather have her focus on Dani. Haven't we gotten enough of Mac?) I hope Feverborn, if not Burned, will be able to satisfy most.
I had this conversation with a colleague at work today. She had just finished reading the whole series. She was stating the same thing, June. That she hopes this book will mend some of the divide in the fans. You know KMM is pretty awesome to get some of us so dedicated to a character after a book. I think you need to feel it out, June.
Winnie wrote: "Sorry Melissa, but you will be greatfull that I didn't reveal anything when you get the book in just a few days. I didn't get that much from the reader, so I probably wouldn't have been alle to hel..."I don't think any cliffhanger is why she is pushing Feverborn out so fast. She has never put two books out in a year. She had huge ones in the first set of books and she didn't give us a new book 9 months later.
The not buying it is more out of principal-- nothing else. I read the Fever series because everyone raved about it and quite frankly i hated it and Mac. I thought the ending was a let down. But i did like Dani even in it and I LOVED the 9 and other fever aspects. I picked up Iced on a whim since I knew the characters already and I was really pleasantly surprised. I thought Moning did a great job breaking out of her normal writing pattern and created interesting characters with witty dialogue. My main problem with Mac was I never like her 'voice' or dialogue. dani might be a sarcastic language slamming teen but she felt real and her chemistry with all the characters was fantastic. I loved her interactions with Ryodan but i loved watching her interact with anyone in that book.
Cookie wrote: "She said that she wanted to make up for us for making us wait so long."Basically and I'm praying she sticks to it :)
I do not think there is a huge cliffhanger especially after reading Shannon's review. I think she had most of Burned written and for some reason changed course and essentially added Mac's storyline and overlapped it. whatever material she did not use will now be incorporated into FEver-whatever its called. therefor most of the book was already written. Samantha wrote: "Oh shoot. I just skipped over this book in my mind. Is this an omen?"LOL Hopefully not. I just want a quality book no matter who is starring. And i want to know more about the 9, is that too much to ask???
We may never know what the Nine or where they came from. At this point, I don't really care anymore. They are just labels. Barrons taught me well. LOL
Cookie wrote: "We may never know what the Nine or where they came from. At this point, I don't really care anymore. They are just labels. Barrons taught me well. LOL"HA! This is why I am a DAni fan, I have to know everything. Curiosity is my middle name. Hoping our Lor snippets give us more into the 9, for some reason I just think his inner dialogue is going to divulge juicy stuff. But you're correct, I do not think we will ever know it all.
I want to know but then again I don't care. If she can tell me all I need to know about them in these last books, then I'll be good.
I'm hoping Lor's pov will be the one showing us "boss flipping out cuz he can't find the damn kid". LOL how great would that be, especially since K Mo has said that Lor's protective of her as well. I just hope he adds more than sex with his pov.I'm most looking forward to seeing how Dani fights for her life in the silvers, it's gonna be horrible but I know she can survive it! 5 years in some twisted faery hell dimension. Like 5 YEARS tho?? that's like her whole childhood just gone. omg my poor bb is gonna need a drink or 10 after that.
I can't decide if I want Ryodan to save her or for her to break out on her own. On her own her would be super badass and prove she's a fucking FORCE, but then again Ryodan NEEDS to come for her! She even said that she knew she could count on him to make her see another day.. if he doesn't... he will have failed her!
Staying alive against all odds for five years is pretty fucking badass enough when I consider it lol. coming back into the world after that is gonna be rough, she probably assumes she's been in there for like a billion years based on how stuff usually works and that everyone she knows is probably dead
Five years is hell. Thats so long for her and those who are looking for her. Each day would set me on edge. They can't even track her to know if she died. Just going off of hope.Yes!!! Yes!!! He would have failed her. What if she thinks he did if he doesn't get her out in a certain time.
omg it's ALL horrifying! yeah Ryodan is gonna lose his shit. Dani KNOWS he can't track her, she might think that he would had to have given up on her, written her off. everyone else has!
like she might figure he's elderly and all but it shouldn't take him that long! if she assumes that time in faery usually is slowed down and more time's passing in Dublin.
I wanna know why she went into faery, like if it's Ryodan's fault.. omg. I'm coming up with some heartbreaking scenarios I need to stop lol
Lol. Why she dipped out is something I can't wait to find out. I can't think of one reason except Christian but my gut says no. What would cause her to run.
I agree Cookie! I know Dani's super tough but there's no way that isn't going to scar her a little bit.I originally thought maybe Christian abducted her in an attempt to stash her away somewhere "safe" but I'm pretty sure the hag is gonna keep him.
I'm thinking maybe she runs into an IFP? like on accident.
I can't see her making a run for it knowing Ryodan has Jo, Jayne needing her, and how much Dancer missed her the last time. Not to mention she doesn't know anything about faery really!
IFP's are splinters of faery right? and silvers are just the way to travel through faery? it's kinda confusing.
I don't know how else Dani could find an opening into faery.. Barrons was supposed to have sealed the wall into the white mansion. maybe a fae sifts her?
gah this shit's driving me crazy, never has a book done this to me!
Hey did we ever find out why the sword and spear can kill the fae? What about them stops their ability to heal and regenerate and they just die? Since the nine can kill them too?
Melissa Tea wrote: "I agree Cookie! I know Dani's super tough but there's no way that isn't going to scar her a little bit.I originally thought maybe Christian abducted her in an attempt to stash her away somewhere ..."
Barrons was suppose to seal it but we don't know for sure since he got gutted by the hag. We never knew if he went back and did once he was alive.
I need someone to slap me and tell me we only have to wait a few days. I feel like I'm waiting several more years for Burned, not days. I can't deal.
True, but if she did go into the white mansion they'd know where to find her. Not to mention time does pass slower there.I was kinda wondering about what repercussions there might be from Mac killing the grey woman. I mean she did make a blood oath and that oath was what saved Dani.. what if breaking it does something to Dani?
And I'm not sure about the spear and the sword, all I know is that it's supposed to be holy light that runs through them
Melissa Tea wrote: "I'm hoping Lor's pov will be the one showing us "boss flipping out cuz he can't find the damn kid". LOL how great would that be, especially since K Mo has said that Lor's protective of her as well...."I'd love that! Imagine the level of insight we'd get from Lor concerning Ryodan. He'd know him almost better than anyone. Awwww. Dani missing out on her childhood, reminds me of how all she wanted was to have a snowfight with the nine. :(
And when she was all "i'll be 14 some other time, like when i'm 15"
Booo. She never got to be 14. :( My poor Dani babeh.
I hope she escapes by herself to be honest. I'd like for her to become like a lone wolf, warrior, wordly adventurer, Bear Grylls like-badass, survivor chick. Who don't need no man to safe her independent ass! She did after all proclaim that she didn't need a superhero boyfriend to kick Ryo's ass. Cause she was going to grown up and become her own superhero, and kick everybody's asses. :D
Also, I want to see Ryodan drowning in guilt and suffering like a motherfecker. From not being able to save his beloved. It'd seem like pretty good comeuppance for his being a dick in Iced. ;)

I would fucking love that too honestly I'm hoping for her to make it out on her own, show everybody who's boss. She can do it all on her own!
And I DEFINITELY wanna see Ryodan's sea of remorse lol
I'm still torn tho. because Ryodan coming for her wouldn't really be about him saving her, she's surviving no matter what in there. It would be about her knowing that there's one person out there that will never abandon her. and I want that so bad for her!
But I don't want to see Ryodan in remorse because he couldn't find Dani. It's not his fault she went away... unless it is his fault, then he should be full of remorse. Like with Barrons and Mac- why is she angry at Barrons because she got raped? It doesn't make sense. I hope Dani doesn't get a stupid idea like that.
Winnie wrote: "But I don't want to see Ryodan in remorse because he couldn't find Dani. It's not his fault she went away... unless it is his fault, then he should be full of remorse. Like with Barrons and Mac- ..."
Haha. I don't think Dani will blame anyone, she is the kind of person to take responsibility for the things happening to her. It's more likely she'd blame herself for everything. Lol, she's got a hella high sense of overdeveloped responsibility. (Like her wanting to save everyone) Rather than push the blame on any other person. Unlike some people. (Looking at you Mac)
I just think he'll feel remorse himself, because he was all 'i'll keep u safe Dani babeh.' And he sorta failed at that...so? Hopefully he's emotionally distraught, because I want to see a bit more of Ryodan's vulnerable side. (I'm pretty cruel.)

I survived by reading it over and over again. But I also read a lot of other stuff, but for it's genre, this is the best.
To all you crazu Moning-maniacs out there:I have noticed that each time someone puts a review of the book on goodreads, all the fanatics here contact the reader. If you really want to know, I suggest you contact Shannon, the reader that gave the book three stars. She happens to answer all questions.
But i regretted that a bit, so I would not recommend it for you!

It's been a little painless this time around since I wasn't too crazy about Iced, but when it was waiting on Shadowfever, that wait killed me and some were waiting even longer than me, couple years for that one. But I can't believe it's actually out next week. =))

Haha. Guess she'll have to hid. lol
I know another reader who have read it, but rated it 5 stars, saying she was mind blown. Makes me very hopeful and excited for Burned. =)

Winnie you are dead wrong. Dead wrong. Lol.

Why spend money on something you probably aren't going to enjoy that much to start with....

I really thought she evolved as a writer, technically and imaginatively in Iced, so no matter whom is narrating I am hoping to have the same high quality product. JMO

I really liked Shannon's review, it was at least insightful(not the spoilers, have not contacted her for those). Most of the 5 star reviews have been nothing more than a blurb, no real information on why they liked it. Just catchy phrases, and some of the reviewers have only ever reviewed 1 book and only want to read KMM books. And I never trust another author's take on a book, they simply pass each other reviews for sales. I LOVE goodreads because you do get reviews that are helpful and it allows me to look at books in new ways. Whether I agree with it or not, more time people spend on their reviews usually lets me see the book in a new light.
