But when Mac was in the white mansion she saw memories from the concubine being with Cruce. I assumed after he faked her death allowing the King to think she killed herself because of the things he's done, he returned with her to the white mansion and kept her there for awhile. And the actual fae queen the King killed. And when Cruce gave her his faery juice the concubine then became immortal and would of remained herself, except for the king killing the Seelie queen there was an opening and the consort ends up taking her place, I can see him making her drink from the cauldron so she'd forget her time as the kings concubine. But if she is definitely ALL Aoibheal (does she look like her too?) It's more like when the King killed her she just took over the concubines living body? So why doesn't the king get the concubine he loved might of well have been dead because she doesn't really exist anymore. It's just the Seelie queen who he KILLED and went to war with for a human.

Aoibheal is just the name V'lane give the concubine when he hide her in faery!! And he told the UK that the concubine became the thing the king wanted a faery by staying in faery! She became the queen only after a long time! Before that she was V'lane mistress ! Only after she became powerful did she became the queen of the Fae.
So what was the point in Cruce/V'lane killing off the Seelie princesses and making the Kings consort the queen? He staged it so the King would think his love was dead in part because V'lane was jealous of the Kings devotion to her while he did nothing to help his Unseelie creations belong at court, then he takes her as his own and makes her queen. The king goes MIA, the book gets out, and V'lane hunts it down for power so he can kill the king and become him? Also I wonder what those Skeletal Unseelie that were following Mac at Chester's is all about. Apparently they've been following her around for awhile.
OMG! I just came back and you all are deep into the UK's story. I don't know it that well. I'm confused. LOL.I wonder what's those things that are following Mac. That is spooky.
yeah, the whole Aiobheal thing never made a ton of sense to me. I just went along with it as the fever plot progressed! what if the things following Mac are somehow unseelie spirits coming back from the dead to haunt her? or some unseelie species that are drawn to the part of the unseelie king/sidhe sa duh (don't remember how to spell that!)? We will most likely find out in 17 days!!!! ahhhhhh :)
I get that the king Killed the old queen, and Aiobeal WAS the consort but now is the Seelie queen Cruce made her into by having the concubine drink from the cauldron and giving her faery juice, and when the old queen died and Cruce killed off the princesses she was next in line, so she's been the queen he's been hiding and taking care of for a long long time. I'm guessing she also thought he was V'lane? But she doesn't seem to resemble whatever it was about the kings human concubine that made him fall in love with her, so why the instant love for this queen (who he still kind of sees as his eternal love), when she doesn't seem to share the same feelings? Of course she's the queen now, but she was able to go through the silvers in the kings bedroom, that only the concubine, the king, and Mac can pass through.Here's a scene from Shadowfever from the kings POV of the old queen (the one he killed?);
Once the king had held the Seelie Queen above all others, but somewhere down the eons, things had changed. He had puzzled over it for thousands of years, studying her, challenging her with subtle tests, in an effort to divine if the problem lay within her or within him.
He was comforted on the day he realized it was through no fault of theirs but that the two who were the eternal glue of their race were coming apart because she was Stasis and he was Change. It was their nature. The oddity was how long they had remained together.
He could not have prevented his evolution any more than she could have prevented her stagnation. All that the queen was at that very moment was all she would ever be.
Ironically, the mother of their race—she who wielded the Song of Making, she who could enact the mightiest acts of all creation—was no Creator. She was power without wonder, satisfaction without joy. What was existence without wonder, without joy? Meaningless. Empty.
So wouldn't he feel this way about Aiobheal too, sooner or later? Because that is just who the seelie queen is, her make up.
The king goes on to say he wanted the elixir of life for his concubine, but he wanted more, he wanted to make her his equal in everyway. How is that possible unless she become the Seelie queen? Or has the book and his vast knowledge?
How do you think Ryodan is going to be able to get Dani to work with him in a Burned . Because according to Dani her contract is now finish!! There agreement was to solve the HFK mystery??
And it won't work to keep saying he is going to kill Jo!!! Because the hole month that Dani was in Feary with Christian he did not kill Jo? Dani even said that because Jo is boinking Ryodan she did not get killed! When her sword was stuck in iced and she asked Ryodan to help her,he refused and she said to him I don't care if you keep boinking Jo i just want my sword back!!
Inanda wrote: "How do you think Ryodan is going to be able to get Dani to work with him in a Burned . Because according to Dani her contract is now finish!! There agreement was to solve the HFK mystery??"Nope. She thinks it is over. He never said that. She is still under contract. Watch.
Yes that is true but he will have to convince Dani. And face it that girl of overs will not take it lying down!! She is going to put up a fight!! Ha ha ha I do love that girl she is a breath of fresh air compared to other female characters !
What about Christian telling Ryodan that he will touch Dani and there will be nothing that Ryodan can do about that???
Inanda wrote: "What about Christian telling Ryodan that he will touch Dani and there will be nothing that Ryodan can do about that???"Men boasting. LOL.
Samantha wrote: "Inanda wrote: "What about Christian telling Ryodan that he will touch Dani and there will be nothing that Ryodan can do about that???"Men boasting. LOL."
Lol. When was this? Am I missing something?
LOL Fresiako, it was another of their verbal matches. Ryodan said to Christine, "Touch her, I'll cut off your wings and use them to sweep the floor at Chester's." And then Christian retorted, "Oh I'll touch her, and there won't be a thing you can do about it."Gotta bask in all that testosterone haha.
On the contract thing, I don't think Ryodan ever intended to use that contract just to make Dani help him solve the ice mystery. I think it binds her to him for life.
Exactly Cookie. It is the thing that she won't ever get it. The kicker will be that in the end she would never want to leave him.
Okay so Ryodan's been watching Dani since she was in her early teens, becomes interested in her, has a contract with her intending to keep her with him for life (so he's obsessed), think's she's amazing and she will become an amazing woman one day, so he wants to keep her with him until she's legally old enough to want to stay with him and have a romantic relationship of her own free will. Is that right?
No. LOL. I'm answering the question of the contract. Dani thinks the contract would have been voided after her job with Ryodan was done. I don't believe that is the case. He has been watching her for a reason. We don't know what it is. But it will come to light soon enough for us. So he finally got a way to bind them. Now the romantic aspect is all secondary. I don't want to romanticize her book but I believe that will come without saying. So my theory is that by the time it is all said and done she wouldn't have wanted to leave him anyways.
I wouldn't say that he's obsessed, just watching for potential and protecting her reckless self. He does see the hell of a woman Dani will be one day yes. It was never stated explicitly in the book why Ryo is keeping her close to him, but we can pretty much infer, from Christian's POV and from the looks Ryo keeps throwing at her. He does want her to be his woman when she's older, but I think that's not the only thing he wants. There's greatness in her that he is investing in. Potential, once again.
Cookie wrote: "Samantha your last sentence "she wouldn't have wanted to leave him anyway," makes me so giddy."LOL. She has been fighting cages for so long that she can't handle being bound to anyone. That is why I said it would be the ultimate kicker. She wants to be there.
instead of "obsessed" I would say Ryodan is invested. the nine want to be the biggest and baddest, and Ryodan saw Dani's potential as a child and wanted to get in on that. I think he sees her as an ally and potential weapon to have by his side. I think he suspects that they might have a great team and romantic relationship in the future that could be epic. But he is obviously holding off on that till she is older. I don't think he is physically attracted to her now but instead likes who she is and respects that she will never bend to his will. he wants to protect her from Christian! since it seems like crazy Christian would be all over her if it weren't for Ryo & Dani's own objections. my question is why does Ryo hate Dancer so much? I guess he sees him as a potential threat?
Little Feather, I think he saw something in Dancer that he didn't like. I can't remember where in the book but he gave him a look over and he didn't like it. Dang! I need to find that. Was it after the love convo when they were going inside Chesters?
Yeah. He did the ocular shiver thing over Dancer and didn't like what he saw. And then he was like, "what ever you want to say to Dani can be said here." I think it's related to whatever deep dark secret Dancer is harboring.
yes i think i remember the part you are referring to! i lover how Dancer had such balls and bossed Christian and Ryodan around when Dani almost froze. that was so hilarious. you know Dancer is hiding some serious ammo since he could stand up to them. I think Ryo is really going to freak out when Dani starts falling in love with Dancer!
Thanks ladies! I was about to go check it. He doesn't even seem phased by them...like he is the big bad.
yes. can't wait to learn what his secret is! i really love Dancer and hope Dani & Dancer can have a somewhat normal, sweet teenage relationship before Dancer's big secret gets revealed. Dani just really deserves some time to be a normal girl.
I'm just afraid whatever secret he has is going to destroy Dani emotionally. Like he is going to turn on her.
I like Dancer a lot. Dani has her own dark secrets she's been harboring throughout the books, and I don't want to even touch on Ryodan, whatever Dancer is keeping to himself I can't see it touching on Ryodan's dark history of the things he's done. I think Dani needs someone who doesn't want to use her in some way, and has never treated her badly to get something from her or out of her.
Almost, but not everyone. Yet. lolHey what do you think is up with Lor? I mean we had that lusty sex scene from his POV and the whole calling that woman master, thinking she was human when she was actually fae (Unseelie princess) and apparently in doing that she owned him? But then we have that snippet from him about spending weeks in bed with someone, typing her up which he knows he shouldn't be doing, and she shouldn't be letting him do it, and how he was going to spend weeks in bed with the woman until she realized he was the best? Or something like that.
Oh and the conversation the beautiful eyed guy (the bartender at Chester's who was a piece of the Unseelie King) had with Mac, when he asked about Christian and she told him she thought he was turning into something, and he mentioned a balance, and she says something along the lines of since one of the Unseelie princes is gone, there's the making of another, Christian is turning into an Unseelie prince, and the BEG tells her he hears the princesses are gone too. (I took that as a hint). There V'lane called Mac Princess and told her he wondered if she was turning into one of them. This was when they were talking about the queen needing to be protected because she was the last female fae royalty who carries the song. And the King told V'lane if he chooses to become him and kills the queen Mac is next in line to become her. So I wonder if Mac is turning into something or not. I mean V'lane wanted the book for the kings magic, the princesses and last queen/concubine dead so he could collect their magic, and be the most powerful and also the first patriarch. But if Mac is a princesses and already has the kings knowledge in her, she'd be in the same spot as him. So if Cruce gets out he'd have to kill the queen (not easy and impossible while she's reunited with the king), and kill Mac.
But if the King lets the Seelie queen go back to her court, the seelie will join behind her, and with the king at her side should they be able to fix all? I'm sure his unseelie would listen to him.
I'm guessing in Burned the fae are fighting with the nine? I don't know why, there isn't much left of earth apparently.

You could be onto something. The 2nd snippet could have been the first thing that actually happens. LOL. I like that thought.
Ooh maybe that's how the fight between them starts. When one of the Unseelie princesses takes Lor as a love slave/spy? LOl The fae take one of the nine, that's some dangerous stuff, I could imagine Ryodan and Barron's freaking out.
Seelie and Unseelie vie for power against nine ancient immortals who have governed Dublin for millennia; a rival band of sidhe-seers invades the city, determined to claim it for their own; Mac’s former protégé and best friend, Dani “Mega” O’Malley, is now her fierce enemy. The unseelie and seelie going up against the nine, when the nine have been feeding their dark brothers, and now something's going on with Lor. Also it sounds like Mac and Dani haven't fixed things, though Mac seeks her out at the end of Iced, something must of happened to make them enemies still. Or that part of the description is left over from the previous book and they work it out at the beginning of Burned.

I mean it's Barrons and Mac, there's no way they'll permanently severe their relationship. At most they'll be separated for a book and then get back together in the final book.
Aw man, who is "she" in the new teaser? And Daku? I'm already feeling tired of waiting for Feverborn :)
