Marie | 1108 comments I read A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab.

Do I typically read books featuring LGBTQIA+ characters or by LGBTQIA+ authors? It's not something I specifically seek out, but I read quite a lot of YA and SFF and they quite often include LGBTQIA+ characters. In terms of the authors, I don't think that's something I'd necessarily know, unless they were open about it and I follow them on social media (which is how I know that V.E. Schwab fits this prompt).

I listened to The 57 Bus, a nonfiction book.
The 57 Bus A True Story of Two Teenagers and the Crime That Changed Their Lives by Dashka Slater
2. Do you typically read books featuring LGBTQIA+ characters or by LGBTQIA+ authors?
I've been seeking out more and they have become more available, so yes.

Sara (phantomswife) | 0 comments 1. What are you reading for this category?
I read The Prettiest Star by Carter Sickels. An amazing book that had me in tatters by the end.

2. Do you typically read books featuring LGBTQIA+ characters or by LGBTQIA+ authors?
No, nor do I avoid them. I tend not to pick my books along the lines of gender, race or sexual orientation. I rather look for books that sound like they have a good story line or something important to say.

Tracy (tracky75) | 49 comments I read Calypso by David Sedaris. I read a few LGBTQIA+ authors here and there--probably more than I realize. I only hunt down specific kinds of authors for reading challenges, otherwise I read what sounds good. This particular book was great for humor and, interestingly, some pondering of mortality.

Lumberjanes, Vol. 5: Band Together

2. Do you typically read books featuring LGBTQIA+ characters or by LGBTQIA+ authors?
I don't go out of my way to seek them, but they're starting to become more and more mainstream, which I'm loving! I read a lot of YA, so it's great to see the representation.

Hannah Peterson | 700 comments I'm currently in the middle of The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers for this prompt. The author is married to a woman and the book itself is set in the future where there's a lot of different sentient alien species who work and live together and have wildly different cultural/biological norms around sex/dating/gender/romance. It's SO GOOD and I really recommend it for anyone who likes heartwarming, character driven stories and also science fiction.

Veronica (ronireads13) | 816 comments I read Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender. i don't purposely seek out LGBTQIA+ authors or characters but I enjoy reading them.

Karen | 94 comments Just finished The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters.

I mostly choose books because I'm interested in the storyline or I've read a good review of something. So, I don't purposely seek out LGBTQIA+ books and authors, but I don't avoid them either.

Jette | 343 comments 1. What are you reading for this category? The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
2. Do you typically read books featuring LGBTQIA+ characters or by LGBTQIA+ authors? I don't typically read books featuring LGBTQIA+ characters or by LGBTQIA+ authors because I don't seek them out just as I don't intentionally seek books based on race, ethnicity, religion or other demographic characteristics. I'm much more interested in a good story that is well written.
