Charles McCormack Hi, my name is Charlie and I'm a partially retired individual and couples therapist. I love talking about love and relationships. All kinds of love: from child to parent, from parent to child, from grandparent to grandchild, and the romantic kinds of love that are a universe among themselves interweaving as they do illusion and reality.

Nancy | 2 comments Hi everyone! I have been inactive on Goodreads for a while, due to work pressure and trying to write in the evenings, but I wanted to say that I appreciate the intent of the group.

My name is Nancy MacCreery.
All three of my books were written to address some social ill -- like corporate greed, human trafficking, and pollution; it's subtle and contributes to the plot.

I'd really love to get more feedback on them. If you'd like a coupon for a free download to review one of my books, contact me at nancy.maccreery@yahoo.com!

Thanks for reading this,

Nancy

teZa Lord (tezlord) | 7 comments Hi, I'm trying to figure how to participate in this discussion. Of course I'm all for "Love and Social Change." Is there a topic here? How do we participate? I'm new to Goodreads and am not very savvy yet. Here's my newly published kindle BESTSELLER book (about teaching yoga and meditation to at-risk youth in lockup:

Afiena Kamminga | 2 comments Hi all,! Time to introduce myself to this group. I'm an indie author of historical novels and just published my second book (you can read about both my books on my author page). Before I start writing on the sequel to my first book (published back in 2014) I decided to try my hand on navigating through the Goodreads site and all it offers -- a bewildering package I must honestly say for one like me, a ripe 60 plusser, somewhat challenged by the task of finding my way through the confusing world of all these new media the Internet has opened to us. I hope to build some time into my routine to nibble my way around this site and take part in discussions I may encounter that speak to me.

message 276: by Joe (new)

Joe Zanrè (ZanMaster) | 1 comments Hello everyone. My name is Joe Zanrè and I have just discovered and joined this interesting group.
After retiring from a career in Engineering, I put pen to paper and authored a book on spiritual growth, a lifelong interest of mine. This book is very up to date, in that it uses computer technology as a model for thought processes. The idea for this had been with me since I began designing computer circuits back in the early 80s.
I always found my interest in spiritual growth to be a solitary pursuit, since very few, if any, of my friends and acquaintances were interested in the subject. For this reason I am excited about being a part of this group and I look forward to engaging in rewarding discussions.

Clifford Stevens | 2 comments Hi everyone Namaste! My name is Cliff and I am a Zen teacher and coauthor of a book called Find the Seeker! which I coauthored with Zen Master Genro Xuan Lou, Laoshi. This spiritual self-help book just came out six days ago, and we started a giveaway for it. We think it is very special, but I guess just about every author thinks this of her or his book. It was a lot of work and a lot to think about, but a rewarding experience. I look forward to being part of the group, making friends and seeing what people like to read. Best Cliff

Hi Samira, It sounds like you have come from a background of many possibilities. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision to put off your career for your children. Being a full-time mommy may be one of the most demanding jobs of all. I have found that family gets pretty stressed when there is not one at-home parent. Even if we have staff to take care of chores, shopping, cooking, etc., children still need one-on-one time with their parents, not just to be escorted to activities. In the US, busy parents are raising busy children. The kids are not getting enough down time, family time, or play time. They learn early on to look outside themselves for happiness and fulfillment. The percentage of teenage suicides is spiking. Do you see this in India as well?
