Book my 6th grade class read in 2000. About a teenage boy who has cancer but is initially told it is mono. (Its hazy in my head) I think his family and doctor knew its cancer and even give him chemo without him realizing it. Then he wakes up one morning with his hair falling out and shaves his head in anger. I think woven in through the story is his love of hunting and nature. I think, (view spoiler)[ he runs away into the woods and has mercy on a deer by not shooting it (hide spoiler)].
