I have had several people comment that my books resemble something they've seen on TV or in a movie. Honestly, I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. However, if folks can envision my books on the big screen, then I'll take it as a complement.

So that got me thinking. What books have you read that you think would make a great movie?

Amyiw | 177 comments J.R. Ward's BDB would make a great soap opera.

taylor ˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆ (taylorangelina) I personally would love to see Vampire Academy get it own movie series or tv series. The books are just so good. They already made a stand-alone movie, but it was garbage. So I really hope they decide to make an updated one.

Robin (rockin_robin) | 81 comments Jane Cousin's Southern Sanctuary and Kristin Painter's Nocturne Falls are the first two series that come to mind as TV series.

Errin Stevens (errintevens) | 97 comments I've thought peripherally about this issue... but I got this heartbreakingly cool trailer from a fan across the pond recently, and now I REALLY want to see the Mer Chronicles on the screen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NFTZ...

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 156 comments I vastly prefer TV shows over movies for most book adaptations due to the limitations of a 90 minute movie. But I also don't think that most PNR/UF that I enjoy can be given justice to on screen for a number of reasons.

But some of those I would like to see in movie format because they are very cinematic on the page include;

The Angelfall Trilogy (Penryn & the End of Days, #1-3) by Susan Ee Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance by Ruth Emmie Lang An Unkindness of Magicians by Kat Howard Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Dragon of Ash & Stars The Autobiography of a Night Dragon by H. Leighton Dickson would be great as an animated movie

Others I'd ove to see

The Witching Hour (Lives of the Mayfair Witches, #1) by Anne Rice I've been desperate to see a TV adaptation of this ever since the first time I read it! To be done justice to it would need to stay fairly close to the source material and it would need to be done by an HBO type (ie no holds barred) network.

Earthseed Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents by Octavia E. Butler a post apoloclytic/dystopian that is perfect for current times (and I don't mean COVID-19)

My Soul to Keep (African Immortals, #1) by Tananarive Due would also make an excellent TV series and I think Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison would too.

Awww thx and you are welcome! Just beware that The Witching Hour is VERY long and has a lot of problematic content and The Parables duet gets dark and very heavy. Both (all!) are excellent reads that I 5 starred though and are amoung the very few books that I will read not just more than once, but over and over again.

There are so many others that I love, but again I just don't feel that the beauty of the story or how it was written would or could ever be given justice to onscreen... this is one of those and is very near the very top of my list
Wolfsong (Green Creek, #1) by T.J. Klune which is a STUNNING book (series starter) in every single way.

Although, it makes me think of TJ Klunes most recent book, which I also think would make an absolutely wonderful animated movie
The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune

Errin Stevens (errintevens) | 97 comments Just bought Wolfsong. Hope I love it half as much as you did!

Hi again! I know taste is subjective, but for this book I would be shocked if you didn't!

EmmaMay | 12 comments Think they could do amazing things with Ilona Andrews - Hidden Legacy series.

And totally agree with another reviewer that a TV take on the Southern Sanctuary series by Jane Cousins would bring the sizzle and the laughs

Cozen | 42 comments Back in 2015 Warner bought the rights for Kresley Cole’s Arcana Chronicles (its on her web page) Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles, #1) by Kresley Cole Poison Princess. They were suppose to adapted it to t.v.

Another movie supposedly was suppose to be made of Red Rising (Red Rising Saga, #1) by Pierce Brown Red Rising. It was announce the same time as Cole’s... though this one’s a sci-fi YA

SJ | 12 comments The Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead should be a TV show. I would watch that in a heartbeat.

Cozen | 42 comments Ah, would have loved for Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #3) by Kresley Cole Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night to be adapted. Though it would have some difficulties seeing that each book can be considered a stand a alone.

Dark Hunter series.

message 19: by RaeRae (new)

RaeRae the Anita Blake series but they would have to tame it down for TV. But...... a movie would be great

Angela Griffin | 3 comments I think the "Nocturne Falls" series would make a fun TV series.

Riley Keith | 28 comments I always think about this! I wish PNR movies were more common. Personally, I would like to see the Fae Chronicles by Amelia Hutchins done as a TV series or movies
