I had forgotten that Sara Driscoll was a pseudonym. Their FBI K-9 series is another one on my TBR that I want to read.

That's great. I'd love to hear your thoughts when you get a chance to read it :-)

I read books 1 to 3 of the NYPD Negotiators Series by Sara Driscoll.

From what I gather, Jen J. Danna wrote these books on her own, unlike the Abbott and Lowell Forensic Mystery Series and the FBI K-9 Series where she partnered with Ann Vanderlaan.

I enjoyed all the three books. My favourite was book 1: Exit Strategy.

I read the first three books of the Nikki Hunt Series by Stacy Green. Enjoyed them a lot. I would definitely like to read the remaining books of the series. Hopefully soon.

By the way, The Girls in the Snow—book 1 of the Nikki Hunt Series—and Tin God—book 1 of the Delta Crossroads Trilogy—are currently free on Amazon. Just thought I'd share :-)

Right now I'm starting Tin God. Since I enjoyed the three Nikki Hunt books so much, I thought I'd give this one a try as well.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Nikki Hunt book. I got it today. I have the Delta Crossroads Trilogy, but haven't gotten to them yet. I also have the first book in the Lucy Kendall series (All Good Deeds), but I haven't read it yet either.

Tiziana | 56 comments Just finished a short cozy mystery set in Regency era :

Petteril's Thief Petteril's Thief (Lord Petteril Mysteries #1) by Mary Lancaster by Mary Lancaster

It's the first one in a series by an author well known for her historical romances and historical mystery-romances.

No romance here, only a cozy mystery but the premises lead me to believe that in the future there will also be a pinch (very little) of romance.

I read Books 4 and 5 of the Texas Murder Files Series—Deep Tide and Liar's Point—by Laura Griffin.

I'd planned to read them sometime later this year but I read them now because they met the requirement for the July Reading Challenge in the Tall, Dark & Deadly group.

I enjoyed both books :-)

Outlier Review

Nonfiction - American History
Creative, Well-researched, Well-organized
Too slow for my tastes.
I was expecting history to come alive and learn something new, but that didn't happen.
It may appeal more to those who pay the video game or isn't as familiar with US history during this time period.

Dystopian
Overall, this is an entertaining, tense, and thought-provoking novel with excellent world-building and engaging characters. However, I was expecting more action and information surrounding the dystopian events and less introspection. Additionally, the ending felt incomplete and abrupt.

PamG (lynguy1) | 1147 comments Here is my 4.07 rounded to 4 stars review of Agony Hill by Sarah Stewart Taylor:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Historical Mystery / Historical Detective
This is more of a historical police procedural that is heavy on characterization and world-building, but has a well-developed and intricate plot as well as some occasional action. While somewhat slower paced than many police procedurals set in modern times, the pace felt appropriate to the setting and time of the novel.

Overall, this is an excellent historical crime novel that introduces readers to a wonderful new character in Warren as well as a fascinating town on the cusp of change. The great and vivid storytelling and fantastic characterization have made this novel a winner for me. If you enjoy old-fashioned detective work prior to cell phones, the internet, and DNA testing, then this is a series to consider.
