I am reading book #20 this month and it has been about a year since the last one I read. One a year seems to be about the right pace for me to avoid series burnout. I may feel differently when I hit book #33...in 2032. Lol
I need to go back and try book 1 again-For some reason the brutal sexuality got to me-not something that usually bothers me(in books, not real life!)-could of been my state of mind

I used to love this series - especially on audio. It"s great escape reading, with bad-ass female cop Eve and the uber wealthy, smart, handsome and Irish Roarke. Add in some OTT bad guys and eccentric and lovable secondary characters in a futuristic setting --- and what's not to love?
But a few years ago, around about book #35, the things that I used to love began to irritate me. The characters' unique way of talking, the somewhat repetitive nature of the plots, etc. I was still listening to 3-4 a year, but was really just going through the motions. So I stopped.
But this month's tag inspired me to try again - with a novella instead of a full novel. You know what? Although my records say that I read this book, I didn't remember it at all LOL. And I enjoyed it -- mostly I enjoyed catching up with Eve, Roarke, Peabody and MacNab and the rest of the gang -- but not as much as I used to. So I think I'll back off and try again in a year. By then Nora will have probably written another dozen books in the series and I'll have some major catching up to do!
