I love A Game of Thrones and the other books in the series :) Hope you enjoy them as well. The only problem is that Martin is the SLOWEST writer ever and will probably die or give up on the series before it's finished :(

I am looking forward to getting into it more. I finished Dracula yesterday and got about halfway through Ghost at Work. But then I also picked up the entire Inkheart trilogy from the library and Wizard's Firt Rule (I love the show Legend of the Seeker and decided to see how different it was from the book) and then I got my kindle in the mail yesterday and so now I am SO CONFUSED as to what to read. I am in choice OVERLOAD!!!!

I finished Walk Two Moons and just had the urge to read Twilight again. I can't really explain it. I think I wanted to read something familiar and something happy! Anyway, I am about 70 pages in and loving it... again! I didn't want to use this for the apple task because the book The Poison Apples looked so good. I might put this on the one word title, but I had so many good ones for that one too. Goodness, I don't know what I will put it under. Maybe I will just put it in a "to-be-placed" list and only assign it on like the last day of the challenge when I realize I can't finish everything. lol!

Oh wow, I'd be confused... and slightly overwhelmed. Sometimes I get nervous when there's not enough "relaxing" time in a day, but oddly, I don't get nervous about not having enough "work" time because I somehow manage to get everything done.

I just finished reading Spellbinder, which I received in the mail from the publisher (cute book--Harry P. fans might enjoy) and am read to tackle Team of Rivals The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln. Am waiting for my book to get in from library so I can finish up the 50 point task.

I finished Twenties Girl (Sophie Kinsella) in 4 days and now I'm reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It's a very popular book.

Joy, I know you'll like Guernsey. It was such a pleasant book to read. I loved all the characters of Guernsey and thought I'd love to live in this town.

Just finished listening to Home by Julie Andrews. Was a wonderful book to listen to since Dame Julie read it. Her speaking voice was just as luscious as her singing voice used to be. Very good book - one better in auditory form than in book form.

Am listening to The Art of Racing in the Rain. A wonderful book - using the dog as the narrator in this novel is a super writing technique. Will be using it for 15.1 the preposition task. For the other half I listened to Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie - this one using the 11-year old heroine as the narrator. Both excellent books that I would highly recommend.

I'm listening to a Nero Wolfe mystery by Rex Stout for the Buddy Holly task (10.1). Title: Too Many Cooks

I'm reading All Together Dead as part of the 'ABC' task (20.2). I'm actually using A, B, and C as my book titles as I want to work in A Breath of Snow and Ashes for the challenge. I'll probably read that after I finish 'All Together Dead'.

I'm also reading Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues A Musical Journey for the Creative Minds (15.6) task. I LOVE blues music. I'll listen some of my favorite CDs, or go listen to a local blues band for the second part of the task.

Donna Jo, this book is very long, but an excellent read and well worth the effort. I'm currently Goodwin's FDR book and it does not disappoint either. Let me know how you enjoy Team of Rivals.

The Art of Racing in the Rain is a wonderful novel. I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying it.

I have also just started The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I have heard so many good things about it too so requested my library order it in. They, happily, complied. :)

Doh! Just got back from the library, where The Girl Who Played with Fire by Steig Larsson was in for me. I am going to switch this in, in place of The Help as reading Larsson's books finishes off task 30.1 for me. I am using The Help for task 20.2 (a, b, c's) and it was the first read (I'm doing g, h, i) for the trio needed.

Oh, so many books!! :)

The Help is terrific - I listened to it on CD and would rate it as one of the top five this year also.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is also very good.

Hello all! Currently reading The Unlikely Disciple A Sinner's Semester at America's Holiest University which I will probably use for the
Student part of 15.10, although maybe it will go for 25.8, depending on the other reading I do over the remaining days of the challenge. I started and tossed Another Day in the Frontal Lobe A Brain Surgeon Exposes Life on the Inside -- I'm too squeamish; so I'll have to look for another book to finish up 20.2. And, I'm continuing with my long-term buddy reads with my son, A People's Tragedy The Russian Revolution 1891-1924 and The Brothers Karamazov, neither of which will be finished before Christmas.

I'm trying to get through Great Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe for the Library Big Read and Fanuilh by Daniel Hood for my ABC task. As soon as I get these finished, I have to read a David Balducci mystery for the discussion group and Antonia Fraser's Marie Antoinette The Journey for the current movie task.

Just started Jamestown A Novel for the alternate history task on the bus to work this a.m. it is a retellingn of how the first colony was founded from teh perspective of John Rolfe and Pocahontas, with the twist that their is already lots of technology around. Should be interesting.

I'm currently reading Hit List. It's the last of my 1-2-3 Task books.
I'm also listening to Breaking Dawn while either walking the neighbourhood or walking the treadmill (depending upon weather conditions). Gosh, that's a long book to exercise to! :D
I've also still got Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell A Novel on the go for the Alternative History task. Another long book and this one has slipped to the sidelines. I've got to get back to it soon. It's an interesting book but somehow I have no difficulties in setting it aside either.

I just finished reading First Among Sequels for the Time Travel task. It was given to me last Christmas and I just got around to reading it. I have really enjoyed all the books in that series but for some reason was just putting that one off. Maybe because it is the last one published?

I am just about to begin Jane Austen Ruined My Life by Beth Patillo for Erin's A, B, C task.

Today, I finished Traveling with Pomegranates A Mother-Daughter Story by Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor for task 5.8. It was a good find.

Last night I finished The Help by Kathryn Stockett, also for the A, B, C task, and loved it!! I highly recommend this novel.

Hi Jennifer: You liked 'Traveling with Pomegranates'? I've just started reading the second section of the book. The first section was a bit of a downer for me. (Not that everything I read has to be upbeat...) I'm hoping the rest of the book lightens up a bit. Please tell me it does. :-)

The tone remains pretty consistent throughout the book but there are some brighter moments that occur. I didn't have any hopes, or expectations, beyond a well written book, going into this story and was very impressed with how their writing complemented one another and flowed so well from one chapter to the next. In the first part I came to understand that it is about two women redefining themselves and their roles with each other and in the world and, overall, though not extremely upbeat, I found it honest and compelling. Sorry Krista, I wish I could say it got a bit lighter.

That's okay. Thanks for the info. I'll keep plugging along in it. I do love Sue Monk Kidd's fiction. Maybe it's just hitting too close to home since I turn 50 on my next birthday. (The age Sue Monk Kidd was in the first portion of the book.) :-)

I loved The Help but just started If On a Winter's Night a Traveler and so far don't love the style of writing. Hopefully I get into it more as I go.

I finished A Mango Shaped Space and A Wedding in December for the 50 point task. I am hoping to finish Love, etc today to claim my points. Then I think I am on to the Self-Help task. Haven't quite decided what I am reading for that yet.

Last night I read Jane Austen Ruined My Life by Beth Patillo ~ a quick, enjoyable read. Today I am starting The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai. This will complete task 20.2 for me.

I finished Home A Memoir of My Early Years, and I gave it 3 stars. Although Andrews had a difficult childhood, things started to go very well for her thereafter, starting around the age of 15. The book ends after she is chosen to play Mary Poppins so I do believe that part II will be forthcoming at some point.

I started reading The Angel's Game, which is going well so far.

Reading am loving it so far. Very few books have moved me to want to write in, so this one is quite special. I love so many of these characters and find them so easy to relate to. Love, loss, humor, diet, --- lots to talk about. About two thirds through it now. Am also reading Lonely Londoners, just finished Nothing but Ghosts which I loved, pile of books by the bed.

Am reading:
A Gracious Plenty for the emotions portion of the 50 point task and Pawley's Island for the memories portion. Spent many summer vacations along the Grand Strand.

Team of Rivals for 25.6 curse of Tippicanoe - great read but not one to hurry through. Am reading slowly and when I don't feel rushed.

Trying to finish Diane's task 25.9 Self Improvement by finishing How to Get Organized When You Don't Have Time but don't seem to have time to finish it (LOL). Just joking - am reading slowly and trying to put some of the ideas into practice while going through it. Those closets are starting to look better. Great discussion on "want" versus "need" in our acquisition of stuff.

Helen, I wish I had room on my bedside table for books, but there's just room for a lamp and my glasses. Instead I just have a huge assortment of books covering half my bed. Sometimes I have to go sleep in the guest room until I get my bed cleared off enough to get into. It's a good thing I live alone.

Oh Donna Jo, and Helen you make me laugh! I have clothes piled on the other half of my bed. It's so much more efficient than folding them away out of sight. :-) Books are in bookcases, piles in front of book cases, bags in the study, in my headboard, and in a couple of piles around my reading chair.

It's a good thing that I live alone too. But maybe this is what keeps me living alone? :-}

I finished The Hunger Games because I stayed up all night to finish it and then, because I am stupid and a glutton for punishment, I started Catching Fire... I got around 4 hours of sleep before I came into work, and since it was in the evening hours, I think it qualifies more as a nap...
