<closed thread>What are you currently reading?
I'm reading An Uncertain Place (10.6 Big Game Hunter - the page number needs to be corrected), Friday Night Lights (banned books for 25.10) and A Curse Dark as Gold (30.3 - Cinderella's Castle). All pretty good!
slowly working my way through - The Place of the Skull for the second book in a 30 pointer - its good, but dense, a chapter a night kind of bookalso reading Bridge of Scarlet Leaves for 25.10 (historical fiction) and several other books in progress
You might like Matterhorn - I read it for the challenge earlier this year and really liked it - the author is a vietnam vet. Takes place on a mountain near the border of LaosKyle wrote: "I'm still reading the powerful novel, Word of Honor, and now I found out that it was made into a movie. I'm learning a lot about Vietnam and the Tet Offensive and Court Marshalling by ..."
I recently finished Mudbound by Hillary Jordan which had wonderful characters. It was set in the Mississippi Delta after World War II, and had multiple themes--racism, post-traumatic stress after war, marriage and family, and fulfillment in life. It was very well-written.
my goal is to finish up the 2 books I have for the 50 point task this weekend and 2 more to close out 2 30 pointers - so I have

I have no idea what tasks the books I am reading are for as we have been without electricity for 8 days now, and I cannot access my PC excel spreadsheet at home. I trust we will get it back soon so that I can catch up and post my books. I am reading either in the library at night (library has WiFi and is staying open late as a warming/charging center) or by candle light at home.
I feel so bad for you, Bea. I'm also in Connecticut, and our power was out for 4 1/2 days. I spent a lot of time in the library, and at the mall. Going out for a hot cup of coffee after a cold night at home was like heaven. I hope your power gets restored soon.I'm reading
The Ghost Map: The Story of London's Most Terrifying Epidemic--and How It Changed Science, Cities, and the Modern World by Steven Johnson, and will be starting
The Red Thread by Ann Hood.

Currently reading The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley. It's pretty good, although I don't like it as much as Kearsley's The Winter Sea.
I am currently reading Shanghai Girls by Lisa See, On the Banks of Plum Creek by Laura Ingalls Wilder, The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen, and listening to Fall of Giants by Ken Follett. Always have several books going at once!
I'm reading The Singing of the Dead by Dana Stabenow. Started off a little slow, but now I really like it.
I just finished The Bell Jar, and am starting The Invisible Bridge. Then I'll spend a few days catching up on all the magazines that I've been ignoring during the fall challenge, and will gather up some books for the winter challenge.
debating if I want to start the new stephen king - I can fit it into multiple categories for the winter challenge and its long enough to fit the partially read rule at 960 pages
I finished Catherine: The Great Journey, Russia 1743 and I am reading "Sleeping Beauty" by Mercedes Lackey
I am currently reading New Moon and The Name of the Star. I hope to finish them both tonight. New Moon is on audiobook.
I'm hoping to finish both Passenger to Frankfurt and Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back by tomorrow night.
I'm now starting on 500+-pagers for the winter challenge - The Game of Kings and The Winter Sea (both coincidentally historical fiction set in/about Scotland). I'm taking a long trip from Singapore to the US and Canada so these are helping me to keep sane.
I'm debating which of my 500+ pagers to start. I think I've got three or four on my list for the winter challenge.
i think i might start the new stephen king tonight - at 900 odd pages...but yeah...the ipod is loaded with audiobooks, the kindle is stocked, some of the library books are in, others are in transit... T-7.5 hours to go!
I am reading The Eight (10.4), The Feng Shui Detective (reading for another group) and Darkness, My Old Friend: A Novel (30.3A).
The Summer I Turned Pretty(10.5) and next up The Face on the Milk Carton (10.1)Doing a run of 10 point books atm, since I put some books I really want to read in this section!
