Loved Lamb! Hope you enjoy it as well.
I'm currently reading Island of the Sequined Love Nun, which is wonderful, too. Not in the same caliber as Lamb but definitely one of Moore's best (of the books of his that I've read). It's zany, wacky, humerous, over the top and has a dark side, too, which I haven't seen in his writing before.

I've added that to my TBR list. It sounds really interesting.

I read To The Tower Born years ago. What do you think of it, Stephanie? I don't actually remember a lot except that the story was interesting, but vague (?? was it??).
I'm reading The Girls, which I'm really enjoying, and started listening to The 19th Wife on my commutes this morning. It's a long one at 15 discs!!! It starts out really good!

Started and read about half of Relic for 15.10 B . It's really good so far ;o)! I like fiction books that incorporate science (but that aren't necessarily science fiction).

I'd like to know what you think of To the Tower Born too. We visited the Tower of London last week and I'm reading [book:The White Queen, so I'm in a War of the Roses mood! :)
Just finished Dead as a Doornail - slightly disappointed, I don't think it was the best Sookie book. Off to choose the next book - maybe People of the Book or Tears of the Giraffe.

I liked [book:To the Tower Born: A Novel of the Lost Princes. I also read The White Queen this month. They both have slightly different perspectives. Tower ended giving the impression that there would be a sequal but I don't think it has been published yet. I would be interested in reading that if it ever came out. I recommend both books. Enjoy.

I am glad I am not the only one who has that! (book ADD)

Thanks Stephanie - another one to add to the ever expanding TBR list :)

I LOVE this novel, Petra! One of my favourites. I hope you end up loving it as much as I do.
I am reading Snow by Orhan Pamuk. So good, so far!

I'm now reading Still Alice, which is heartbreaking, too.
I've started listening to The 19th Wife in the car. I think it's going to be really good.

I am so glad, Petra! I was fortunate to see Lansens to a reading of The Girls. She has a background in acting. To this day it has been the most stunning and powerful reading I have ever attended. I cried. Felt a bit goofy then looked around and noticed I was not alone. I was that beautiful. Afterwards, I spent a bit of time chatting with her and she was so, so terrific. It is a great memory. I have read the novel three times and it holds up every single time. I have learned Lansens is suffering with rather debilitating vertigo and has been unable to do much travel. It interfered with the promotion of her most recent novel, The Wife's Tale. Sad!
I read Still Alice last year and really, really enjoyed it too. It has being doing the rounds ever since and I still haven't gotten it back. Everyone who reads it comes away amazed by Genova's ability to handle the issue of Alice's disease from the inside of her incredible mind.

Jennifer, how special to have met Lori Lansens!! I'm glad to hear that she's written other books. I'll be looking out for them.
I just finished Still Alice. What a wonderful book! It's so touching. She was a brave lady and I loved the ending.
In many ways, Alice's struggle with Alzheimer's reminded me a lot of my Mom and her struggle with Cancer. Not the same disease, for sure, but many of the struggles to maintain one's life patterns and one's "self" were the same. I wanted to hug both my Mom and Alice many times throughout the book.

Can't wait for October 1, because i'm doubling up a lot of these challenge books with others and I wanna start them!

I want to read that book too! But my library doesn't have it. Is the ebook free? If so, what is the site?

i'm super psyched because I've had The School of Essential Ingrediants on the reserve list at the library for like 6 weeks now and no sign of it and I found it in the $4 bin at borders today...so I think that is going to be my next book

I bought it at the Sony Reader store--my library system had over 300 holds on it, and I was impatient.

I really enjoyed The School of Essential Ingredients--I hope you do too.
