Petra I'm enjoying some easier books after finishing (yay!) 2666. Good book; just long, dense and tiring.
I finished Between, Georgia, which was really enjoyable except for a slow part in the middle. A good summer book.
I'm now reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which I'm really enjoying, and continuing with Pride and Prejudice.

Kathy G. | 1931 comments I finished Wind in the Willows and it was really good. I tried to watch the Disney movie after, and it was so dumb. Books are just better (usually.) :-) Now I'm reading Freezer Burn- a mystery-- and it's fast moving and fuuny.

message 912: by Liz (last edited Aug 18, 2010 09:13AM) (new)

Liz I'm reading Cold Mountain & am really loving it! I've put it off for such a long time, so I'm glad this challenge pushed me to read it.

I still need to read Book of a Thousand Days, Unwind, Mockingjay, Lone Survivor, & The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Ranch Wife.

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 815 comments I am trying to finish The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Dracula and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for the Tarot task. I am at about page 150 in all of them. I was just reading Harry Potter as a side book. Then yesterday someone asked me to be their friend and it was on the TBR list so figured I should tuck it in.

message 915: by Brenda (new)

Brenda G | 65 comments I just got my free giveaway book - Mentor I am excited to read it, but I don't think it fits into any of my unfinished tasks. Oh well...I'm going to read it now anyway!

message 917: by Zimbellina (new)

Zimbellina | 108 comments I've just finished Mary: Mrs. A. Lincoln which I enjoyed, though the last 200 pages or so made me pretty angry.

I'm still reading The Prestige, which is lagging a bit for me, and Peppermint Twisted. I'm also about to start PopCo and I'm listening to Stephen Fry read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - I love it.

I thought that Mary was a great book. I know what you mean about being angry Kandie. Between son Robert Lincoln and friend and confidant Mrs. Keckly, Mary Lincoln got a pretty raw deal.

I really loved it but I wanted to throw it across the room at times! I couldn't believe it when her friend wrote that book and her son was so horrible :/ But it was a really great book.

message 926: by Amanda B. (new)

Amanda B. | 112 comments Since I joined the at the end of the summer challenge and awaiting the fall challege I'm pacing myself on the book I started last Thursday Wuthering Heights I fit it into one of the fall challeges so I've marked my spot where I have to stop according to the rules to count for September. So to help me pace I'm also reading Just After Sunset since I'm reading this for the short story challege. It is frustrating however as I want to tear through Wuthering Heights and could have read it all weekend and be almost done but I want it to count so I'm impatiently awaiting Wednesday.

message 927: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 8987 comments i figured that since the Summer challenge ends in a couple of days, i'm not going to rush and try to squeeze any challenge books in, because that takes the fun out of reading..so i'm just catching up on some of my fun romance reading, some short stories here and there that i have picked up

message 928: by Petra (new)

Petra I just finished my last book for this challenge and am taking a break, I think, from reading for the next couple of days. I've got some catching up to do around the house and some letters to write. I may start Peace Like a River during my lunch break tomorrow (I have today off)....or not. I'm not sure.

Amanda, I think the new Rules state that you can only pre-start 1 book for the next challenge.

message 929: by Amanda B. (new)

Amanda B. | 112 comments Petra,

Seriously? Oh well I've only read the first short story in that book. I'm leaving Wuthering Heights at work today so I won't be tempted to read it tonight cuz I think the last of the pages I have until the cut off is just enough for tomorrow's lunch time reading.

message 930: by Christine US (new)

Christine US (christineus) | 575 comments I'm almost done reading My Name is Mary Sutter - only 30 pages left, will finish those off tonight. It's fantastic, I'm so glad I found it during this challenge.

I'm also listening to audio book The Blue Notebook, which I do not like at all. The writing is well done, just dislike the story. I've got about 2 hours left to listen to, but since my commute is an hour each way, I'll have it done by the time I get to work tomorrow morning.

Petra Delicious Dee the book slut wrote: "If I was shipwreaked with wuthering heights, i might kill myself ;) hatred cannot describe my feelings for that book"

One of the things that makes this book interesting for me is that people seem to love it or hate it. It's quite a polarizing book, it seems.
It should be an interesting experience, I think. We'll see, I guess.
