Harper | 3 comments Read this book in the early 2000s when I was in the fourth grade. I remember the cover was green and depicted a house in the forest. It had two siblings, I forgot the brother's name but the sister was named S.B. which turned out to be short for Strawberry and that she shortened it because she was embarrassed by it.

I don't remember too much but I recall there being woodcarving as a plot device, like carving little animals out of wood and putting them up all around the house.

Did the siblings live there by themselves or with parents or other relatives? Was there any magic or fantasy?

I can't remember why they moved but I do remember they moved back home at the end of the story by plane. It's right before S.B. gets on the plane that the boy she meets in the story says, "I just realized your name stands for Strawberry." And she's super embarrassed because her parents were hippies.

They lived with another family member, I think a grandparent or uncle? The male family member did the wood carving!

I don't think it was a fantasy story, and there was no magic. The tone of it was very whimsical and folksy though.
