Thats why i said dont judge a book by its cover it means that mayb i dont like wonder women but if i read the book i like ie

message 13: by David (new)

David Putnam (davidputnam) | 10 comments I have to admit the cover is important to me. Initially, anyway. Hope that doesn't make me a shallow person. And I do like the covers from days of old better. The old pulp covers, Bantam, and Gold Medal.

d.

Sarah Ali | 244 comments Mod
Yah it might b for u but U shouldn't judge a book by its cover

message 15: by David (new)

David Putnam (davidputnam) | 10 comments I don't judge the content. What I meant was the cover is important for me initially, eye attracting. If a mystery has a picture of Godzilla on the front I'm probably not going to pick it up. That kind of think.

Hmmm.. can't help😂

message 17: by David (new)

David Putnam (davidputnam) | 10 comments Oops, sorry, by no means did I intend to alienate anyone with my book cover comments. I think book covers are critical to the industry. A friend of mine, Lee Goldberg is the publisher of Brash books. He told me that in the past he has published a book and it languishes in sales. He changes the cover, (sometimes two and three times) until the sales improve. So I do think cover's are important. I'll read a book with a cover that doesn't intrigue me if the reviews are great.

Weird...

message 19: by Sneha (new)

Sneha (lovegood19) I think book covers are very important.

message 20: by David (new)

David Putnam (davidputnam) | 10 comments Just finished reading City of Windows, and I'm almost done with Bloody Genius. On deck is Dragonfly by Meacham and Wanders by Wendig. Also, Clash of Eagles and The Legal Limit by Martin Clark.

message 21: by Sneha (new)

Sneha (lovegood19) Did you like them?

message 22: by David (new)

David Putnam (davidputnam) | 10 comments I posted a review of City of Windows on GR. I liked it well enough, there were some issues that caught me and down graded from five stars to four. But more than likely it could be attributed to my author sense more than my reader sense. I did enjoy the book a great and it could've been a better than average thriller for me had those issues not clouded the read.
John Sanford books are my go-to reads. There is something about the voice that is so engaging, especially the Virgil Flowers series. I was just thinking about why, this morning and I think it's his chosen structure. The majority of the time he is in scene. There is very little telling the story in narrative or exposition. I think this allows for a deeper immersion in the Fictive Dream.
Sorry, let me know if I ramble on too long about structure and style too much.
