SOLVED. Science Fiction dealing with man stuck with multiple selves from many dimensions. [s]

I read this within probably the last five years, believe it was relatively new. I don't think it's more than ten years old. I think I lent the book to my dad, but he has no memory of it. I can't find it on my shelves and would love to revisit it.

SPOILERS I can't remember most details from the book, unfortunately just remember being fascinated by how thought provoking it was. The main character *I think* discovered a way to move between dimensions and another "him" ended up taking over his life with his wife. I'm pretty sure he was a scientist. He spent the book trying to figure out how to resolve it. There were multiple copies of him wandering around, and I think there was a specific location that he had to go to in order to move between the dimensions. There was an art installation, at one point. And he has a friend who gets murdered as well.
