R10: Team #1 ~ Free Range Chicas
Week 4, Shelf #2: L
Bound by Night by Larissa Ione
Rating: ★★★
Read: 11/21/2014
# pages: 400
Review:
I was waiting to see if I could write a review without being bitchy....I can't.
If it wasn't for the name written on the cover I would not have taught that Larissa Ione wrote this one....it's nothing like her Demonica or Lords of Deliverance series. In many respect it's a good thing to write differently for an author but this series is so full of clichés it's not even funny.
The interesting aspect is that the vampires have been enslaved by the humans and only a small portion live in sort of a resistance camp. Any interaction with humans are better resolved with a swift, gory death for the human.
Having that in mind, it's not even plausible to go the insta love thing between a vampire and human....and it does not happen. It leads to them circling each other in a dance of advance and retreat pleasant to witness...and the loves scenes do not disappoint.

Week 3, Shelf #1: D: Seducing the Dead Sexy Dragon by Lolita Lopez (Provided by Publisher)
Rating: ★★★
Read: 11/16/2014
# pages: 128
Review: This was a fun cute read that had a new twist in regards to dragons. As with most novellas you are left with wanting more and that is true of Dead Sexy Dragon. The book is part of a trilogy but they are all novella reads at around 130 pages which I haven’t run across before.
The story focuses on Stig and Cora’s relationship. Cora is the younger sister of Stig’s best friend who was unexpectantly killed a couple of months beforehand. When Cora gets herself into a deadly situation, she runs to the only person she trusts which is Stig.
Stig is a dragonshifter who is a member of “The Brotherhood of the Green Hide"; which is a group of dragons who protect the dragon tribes from "The Knights of St. George," an old society charged with the destruction of the dragon race. Stig is a bit remote and aloof and Cora entering his home during a critical time for his dragon causes him some issues; namely, his attraction to Cora and her attraction to him.
It took a bit for Cora to grow on me; mainly because I can’t abide the “too stupid to live” heroine and Cora was on the verge of becoming that for based on her actions which got her into the deadly situation.
There are graphic sexual situations so if you are not a fan of those then this is not the read for you. If you are looking for those, then let me say two words “dream sex.” Yowsah!!! If you’ve read the book you will know exactly what scene I am talking about.
Overall, Dead Sexy Dragon was a fun read; with unique world and conflict between the two organizations. Iif you are looking for something short and spicy, check our Stig and Cora’s story.
Week 4, Shelf #2 - L Red Hot Dragon by Lolilta Lopez> (provided by Publisher)
Rating: ★★★ 1/2
Read: 11/24/14
# pages: 128
Review: Having recently finished Dead Sexy Dragon I was curious as to how this series would continue; enter Red Hot Dragon the second book. Each book is independent of the other so reading out of order can be easily done.
This story focuses on Griffin and Amani’s journey. Their two families have been “at war” for years and any relationship between the two is almost forbidden. When Amani requests a favor from Griffin he surprising agrees and that changes everything for them.
I really liked Red Hot Dragon; a little bit more than Dead Sexy Dragon. I think it was Griffin’s character. He has that easy going, care-free type character which was completely different than Stig’s remote, leave me alone type attitude.
The sexual situations were explicit and super-hot. Griffin’s and Amani’s relationship was one that balances each of them and makes for a better couple.
Overall another great novella from Lolita Lopez and I am looking forward to completing this series with Wicked Dark Dragon which releases in March 2015 and is the story of Griffin’s cousin Ian who we glimpse in Red Hot Dragon.

No winning shelf this week but every team have 4 in-a-row called. For our card, we could have two 4 in-a-row if we completed and get stamped: Free Space, A and L.
Doing well...also did my Thanksgiving off-season (well, day!) & it was lovely!Oh...I suppose that was directed at the Chicas, but just felt like butting in! Hope you're enjoying your reads...and looking forward to the reviews! (Huh...nothing like Bingo and Thanksgiving for increasing...)
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!I'm going to visit my family this weekend so hopefully I can get some reading done while I'm there!
I am working on my D book and Free Space. I will have both finished this weekend. Then it looks like I should try to finish an A book for a 4 in a row, right? Let me see what I have and I'll come back and post my picks. Happy Thanksgiving to the U.S. folks! I had leftovers for brunch. :)
I'm going to switch my D pick to be my A pick. So my pick for D will now be:
The Dream Thieves (Library loan)
Week #5, Shelf 1: A
A Dangerous Thing (Adrien English Mysteries #1) by Josh Lanyon (Library loan)
Finished: 11/28/14
Rating: 3 stars
Review: The crime/mystery in this one wasn't nearly as interesting to me as in the first book, which means I think I'm done with this series. Lanyon is a talented writer, but these books feel dated in a way that just doesn't sit well. It's not cutesy enough to be a cozy mystery, and not nearly romantic enough to be a romance either. That said, I found the tussle between Adrien and the locals to be just entertaining enough to keep me reading, but I'm not that into Jack's closeted inability to actually treat Adrien like a human being.
My FREE SPACE book will be:
Mark of the Gladiator by Heidi Belleau (Amazon freebie)
This qualifies because it's not a setting I've read or would normally buy - Roman gladiator fiction. Hopefully it's interesting!
For my a book I will read silent blade by illona Andrews. I finished my for space book and will review shortly
for my free space book I read
which featured shapeshifters. This book was from a friend. Finished it 11/29 and give it three stars. I like to story line and world building, however this book did not keep me engrossed and seemed to move slowly.
oh and the A book is supposed to read
Sorry, was using the app on my phone and it wasn't being very helpful. for G i will read A Ghostly Ménage: Werewolf Paranormal which is a loan from a friend.
Ok, I've updated the list but I am concerned a bit as to the progress...in bold to prioritize. If the list is not accurate let me know.@Logan: CH, G
@Nici: HA, CH
@Sherri: CH, A, G
@Suzanne: free space, CH
@Valerie: CH, G
My A book is read but I'll review it Monday evening. I've got outdoor stuff (a foundation wall) to do before the snow piles up too high...Winter is Coming!
Week #5, Shelf 1: A
Read: Yes Please by Amy Poehler
Date: 11/30/2014
Rating: *****
Review: So after reading the reviews on this book, I think everyone was a bit too harsh. I LOVED this book, I got it on audio and Amy Poehler was the narrator. It wasn't Bossypants, I think this book was more inspirational and self-helpish and Tina Fey's book was more autobiographical. I still loved it though and I can't wait to see what she does after Parks and Rec.
I'll finish
today and have my review up by tonight for my G shelf.I'm still working on
and will hopefully have it finished by tomorrow!
I'm reading Perdition by Ann Aguirre for my A book (gift)Also finished CH book last night so I will review that tonight.
Free Space - Outside Comfort Zone

Review: This was my first gladiator set novel. Anazar is a slave who is sold to a master who asks him to train his female gladiatrices. He quickly gets embroiled in a complicated plot between his master's brother, wife, and even some of the women he is training. Everyone seemed to have multiple names, which made it hard to keep track of who they all were, but the action was intense and exciting, especially when they go into the arena. I wasn't as into the love story between Anazar and Felix, but that's just because I find slave/master relationships a little uncomfortable.
Week 3, Shelf #2: D
Library Loan
Finished: 11/30/14
Rating: 4 stars
Review: No matter how beautiful the language or exciting the action, I still have the hardest time following what the heck is going on in these books. Granted, it's been a long time since I read The Raven Boys, but there were large chunks that I felt I should have been able to follow a bit better. I kept getting all of Blue's aunts confused, and a refresher on the Gray Man's role would have helped. Regardless, the series is a lot of fun to read and I enjoy the concept and execution enough to forgive my own dumb inability to keep track of this whole Glendower/Cabestownorwhatever business.
For my A book i readSilent Blade and give it five stars and i just have to say give me more andrews! Love this author duo! Great world building and keeps me wanting more! Finished it on 11/29.for the L book i read The Fire Rose which i give 3 stars. I liked the book, however, it was a slow read for me and I know i have read other's by her that were better done. finished 11/30.
for the G book i read A Ghostly Ménage: Werewolf Paranormal which I give four stars to. I enjoyed the story, thought it was HOT but I really feel like it could have been done so much more in depth. finished 11/31
Week 5, Shelf #2: G
Read: Looking for Alaska by John Green
Rating: *****

Review: I loved this book just as much as The Fault in Our Stars! It was depressing and centered around death, but the characters were just as detailed and alive as in his other best seller. Can we please make this a movie?
Wow,That is some accomplishment, great job! Ok, I 've got one stamp to request.
I must have missed something in editing so I would really like if you could double check the status further up this page. Thanks!
Also, I am missing some info (i.e. book origin). Maybe I missed it or you forgot to mention it:

Review:
I think I read too many loving aliens and humans. This one was about alien abduction after partial human elimination. I liked the dystopian end of the world thing because the human polluted the earth so much that global warming was killing them.
The ultimate purpose of the alien race, the Nirreth, is unclear if they are terra forming the earth to suit them or "healing" it. It's very descriptive for a short book but, aside from the main character Jet, the other characters are not fleshed out much. The ending is a mild cliffhanger so I guess the other characters (especially the enigmatic, part traitor to the human race Richter).
I'll need to read book two to find out.
I took this from the discussion thread because Jenne could not have put it better:Jenne wrote: "So looking at the spreadsheet
Winning Shelves:

Team 4: K or MA or AN
