A lot of overlap with the military subgenre, but that's unsurprising when guns are involved.
Guns of the Dawn - Adrian Tchaikovsky
Promise of Blood / Sins of Empire - Brian McClellan
The Thousand Names - Django Wexler
I'm interested to see what others have to add to this list just because I haven't read a lot of books/series in this subgenre and I don't know how much is out there.

Waking fire by Anthony Ryan
Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan
Those are among my favorite books EVER, not just for the flintlock subcategory. Based on Scott’s recommendation, I bet I’ll be adding Guns of Dawn to that list shortly.

I've only only got one to add: the Terrarch Chronicles by William King, starting with Death's Angels - has flintlock-wielding half-elf assassins, dragons, necromancers and eldritch monsters! I got the first book in the series for free on Kindle AU :-)

Promise of Blood was pretty good.
I also enjoyed Waking Fire.
The second era Mistborn series (books 4-6) are favorites of mine. I'm not sure I would classify them as flintlock fantasy, but there is definitely some overlap there.
1) Wax & Wayne (Mistborn Era 2)
2) Guns of the Dawn
3) Brian McClellan (Powder Mage & Gods of Blood and Powder)
Those 3 pretty much sum up everything I've read that falls under the Flintlock Fantasy banner... not really adding much to the discussion :)

That's really interesting. I hadn't really thought of KJ as a flintlock series. I had grouped it in with etherpunk as a sub-genre of steampunk but I can see where this would fit. I think the biggest difference for me is Guns of the Dawn, Powder Mage and Shadow Campaigns have flintlock battles. But still definitely get where you're coming from with the grouping.

For a clearer definition of what flintlock fantasy is and the differences between flintlock and steampunk, here is a pretty simple definition with some examples: http://bestfantasybooks.com/flintlock...
