Shilpa | 140 comments What if two members read the same book which contains two of the words?
Can the same book be used twice that way?

message 602: by Shilpa (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Hello Lightning Crafter team!

I just want to thank you all for the effort during the read-a-thon duel. :)

Was only with the help from all the Light teams that we could beat the Darkness.

Well played!!

Updated with:

Note:Individuals can only find each item once, but multiple people on a team can find the same item. So if two people on the team read a book with a dog on the cover, both would claim 5 points, but that same person couldn't then claim "dog" again

Yes Tara Jo, just pot the sentence of the book you have found the word in. Spreadsheets are being updated soon to help track

Tara | 1259 comments Hey team! Don't forget to look for the various Australian words from the latest challenge:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

When you claim your read books, if you've found even one item in your book (title, on cover, word within the book) claim it in your post so we can get bonus points! You can only do one word per book, but a lot of these are pretty easy to find in a lot of your books!

If the majority of us claim a word, we can get an additional 30 points (we need 75% of our team to do so!).

This goes for our reads from Jan 23 through Jan 31!

ahhh damn and I just saw "lobster" in Hellhole last night. will update when I get home!

message 609: by Erin (new)

Erin | 376 comments Also for the challenge if you could make a note of the word and where/how you find it on your post on the READ BOOKS thread that will help so I don't miss any when I put them on the official spreadsheet! Thanks guys!

message 610: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) I have been looking through the book I am reading but not finding anything. I am reading pretty little liars.

message 611: by Tara (new)

Tara | 1259 comments Monica wrote: "I have been looking through the book I am reading but not finding anything. I am reading pretty little liars."

There's a few in there....GUY, BEER, POOL...probably more...keep your eyes looking! They are there! Just find them and make note of the sentence so you can include the sentence and page # or Location!

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 705 comments I am reading White Space (Dark Passages, #1) by Ilsa J. Bick
I can get Beer, Birds, Bridge, Bush, Coal, Desert, Dog, Drill, English, and a lot more

message 613: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) This was a question asked by some one else: This Australian Day challenge looks super fun, but I'm a little confused as to what this means... if more than 75% of your team members find an item, you will get a bonus 30 points! So it sounds like we should try to find the same words to get the 30 pt. bonus? Or does that just mean if more than 75% of our team participates by finding any word we get the bonus? Just trying to figure out if we should be getting as many different words as possible or trying to co-ordinate finding the same words.

The answer was this: Allison Ann wrote: " Or does that just mean if more than 75% of our team participates by finding any word we get the bonus?"

That one

So we need 10 of our 13 teammates participate and we will earn the bonus points and the sheet should calculate it once we reach this percentage.

message 614: by Tara (new)

Tara | 1259 comments That's what I've gathered....so we can only use one word per book, so Lizz Neill, where you can find many, we only can claim one for that book (just pick any of them).

Do we have that many active members in our team? I lose track of how many people we have since we're kind of a quiet group! if that's the case, then we need 10 people minimum to claim a word (doesn't have to be a unique word, someone else can have already used it from what I understand). So I've used MOUNTAIN and ISLAND, but someone else can also use ISLAND.

I think that's what I've gathered! I see a few posts people have made in the last few days for read books...if you can, go back and see if you can find one of those words in the book. Each word we claim gets us points!

message 615: by Erin (new)

Erin | 376 comments Yes we have 13 members and so far 3 have posted found words (Me, TaraJo, and Lizz)

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 705 comments I claimed sheep and summer so far

message 633: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) I posted my book and I found Summer in it and also posted that in the thread.

Summer found on pg 1 in Pretty Little Liars 1/30/15

message 634: by Monica (last edited Jan 31, 2015 06:49PM) (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) I just noticed that one of Ari's books has an author's name as Colin so we should be able to use that book. That should give us 9 people participating so far. The book is titled Under Wildwood.

message 635: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) We can also use Ashley's book A Raisin in the Sun because Sun is one of the words. That would give us 10 people that participated.

message 636: by Elaine (new)

Elaine (ofdustandstarlight) When will this be ending btw? I'm in a different timezone and it's already 1st Feb here but I think I can add two more words...

message 637: by Shilpa (new)

Shilpa | 140 comments Hey guys! Sorry for being MIA in the past week! :(

message 639: by Tara (new)

Tara | 1259 comments Sorry everyone....I didn't get much reading done this past week and am a bit behind in claiming things, but I found at least my one word that counted for me!! Great job for everyone doing what they could to get those bonus points!

message 640: by Tara (new)

Tara | 1259 comments We have been such a quiet team this whole process!!! Everyone's just doing their own thing reading books! Looks like this may be wrapping up in the next week or two from the looks of the numbers....hope everyone enjoyed it and has read some good books in the process!
