Books I've recently read include Amiga by Matthew Arnold Stern, Prime Meridian by Connie Post and The Order of Time by Carlo Novelli. I've posted reviews here on Goodreads for both Amiga and Prime Meridian, and I recommend The Order of Time to people who like to read popular science books that address fundamental questions in Physics.
Finished reading
The Jade Peony by
. A poignant and informative read that mixes sadness with humor. 4.4 stars. My review:

I read Pavilion of Women by Pearl S. Buck. It depicts life in an upper class family in 1940s China. It focuses on Madame Wu, the overtly calm and sophisticated head of the large family household and the momentous decision she makes on her 40th birthday.I enjoyed it, especially the first half of the novel because of Pearl Buck's detailed description of the traditions and customs of upper class Chinese families.

I read Sisters by Daisy Johnson, a haunting, psychological drama of the relationship between two sisters. Although not quite as riveting as Johnson's Everything Under, I thought it was still a compelling read.My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here's what I read this week:The Lost Colony (Artemis Fowl, #5)
by Eoin Colfer
My rating: five out of five stars
This is an exciting and entertaining addition to the series. It's very imaginative, the plot is fun and moves at a nice pace, and the characters - those
I've come to love from previous books, as well as the new ones introduced in this book - are fantastic.

I read The Book of Night Women by Marlon James. A slave narrative set in Jamaica. Very graphic violence. An amazing narrative voice and a remarkable achievement. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read An Imaginary Life by David Malouf. Malouf envisions the life of the Roman poet Ovid after he has been exiled to the outskirts of the Roman Empire. An interesting re-creation that can be interpreted on many levels. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Just about finished with a real strange one, I admit I hated it at first, but it's grown on me, like an annoying pimple that is strangely pleasing to pop.The Hike
This week I read two books. So, here's what I read, along with my book reviews.~
The Time Paradox (Artemis Fowl, #6)
by Eoin Colfer
My rating: five out of five stars
This is another excellent addition to this series. The plot is exciting, and I love how the time travel aspects were handled. Also, it was great seeing
just how much Artemis has grown and evolved since the start of the series.

The Atlantis Complex (Artemis Fowl, #7)
by Eoin Colfer
My rating: four out of five stars
My actual rating is 3.5 stars, but I rounded up. This was not my favourite of the series. I'm still loving the series in general, don't get me wrong, and
the characters too. However, I think the way things were dealt with in this book weren't handled well, and it shows just how often people don't take mental
illness seriously. A perfect oppertunity to show how sometimes people you care about can be suffering in ways you can't see, but you need to still be there
for them anyhow, was lost. If that was by accident, the author should have done more research in to psychological disorders and mental illness. If it was
on purpose - perhaps to illustrate the very point I made about how few people take mental illness seriously - it wasn't handled as well as it might have
been. All in all, this was a good read, because it was an Artemis Fowl book, but it wasn't a fantastic one.
I read How It All Began by Penelope Lively. An elderly woman's mugging in a London street triggers a series of events with characters whose lives intersect. Penelope Lively weaves an entertaining tale illustrating the butterfly effect. Her narrative voice is funny and engaging. I recommend it if you're looking for something light to read. Catching up on some reviews:Leslie Wilson's Malefice - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3534999887
and books 1 and 2 of Rachel Aaron's Eli Monpress series -
The Spirit Thief - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3544760074
The Spirit Rebellion - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3544760342
I read American Indian Women by Patrick Deval, translated from the French by Jane-Marie Todd.I recommend it for anyone interested in learning more about the contributions of American Indian women. The photographs alone, dating from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century, were amazing.

I just finished The Lemon Grove - a novel by Helen Walsh. I must say that it was a page turner - I really wanted to know what happened to each of the characters. The descriptions of location and the emotions people felt were quite well done.
I finished reading THE HENNA ARTIST by Alka Joshi and totally loved ithttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
Finished
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. A deeply engrossing read. I gave it 4.6 stars, and off it goes to my favorites shelf! My review:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just finished "The Kingdom". It was a fascinating read. Quite different. It switches back and forth from a narrative about a hybrid woman in a fantasy land and her murder trial. I gave it 5 stars.
Finished volume 3 of Rachel Aaron's Eli Monpress series, The Spirit Eater, and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3544760445.
This week I read two books. So, here's what I read, along with my book reviews.~
The Last Guardian (Artemis Fowl, #8)
by Eoin Colfer
My rating: five out of five stars
This was an excellent ending to the series. I know this is a short review, but there's not really anything to say beyond that other than what I've said
while reviewing the previous books.
~
The Morning Star
by Gita V. Reddy
My rating: five out of five stars
This is a wonderfully written and touching story. The mentions of the pandemic hitting around the time it's set were very skillfully incorporated in to
the tale, and the whole plot flows at a nice pace. Also, the characters are fantastically portrayed well-rounded people, and the ending was just beautiful.
Just finished reading "Seduced by an Alien" by Hope Hart from her series "The warriors of Argon." I love her books. On to the next one in the series, "Protected by an Alien."
I know this sounds crazy but I just finished rereading my first book, Caledonia. The reason? I just finished writing the first draft of the sequel and I wanted to make sure the two books run smoothly together.
I’m currently reading WHY ARE ALL THE BLACK KIDS SITTING TOGETHER IN THE CAFETERIA? I just finished AMERICAN DIRT. Those were my last two new books (I spent months reading old never read books sitting on my shelves), so I’m going on another every other month run to my local Barnes and Noble today.
I read A Long Petal of the Sea by Isabel Allende. I think it got bogged down with recounting the political events in Spain and Chile to the detriment of the narrative. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just finished People's Republic. My review is the most recent one. You’re either going to find this book hilarious or frightening, depending on where you are politically......
Read Tanith Lee's A Heroine of the World and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3552070432.
