CC wrote: "You will love it. We have a discussion group on goodreads history forum"Hi CC, I'm enjoying it so far.
Which goodreads history forum? There are so many history forums, I can't figure out which one it is. I would love to read the discussions on it. Thanks.
About to finish Guardian and started Laugh Out Loud by James Patterson
I finished
The White Raven and found it to be a really good read about a modern witch with a real problem. I'd recommend it to those who like witches and magick.
Read a collection of 1930s mostly supernatural stories by Robert Bloch, The Opener Of The Way and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2119930883
Just finished reading Traitor's Masque by Kenley Davidson and am about to start The Green-Eyed Prince: A Retelling of The Frog Prince by Brittany Fichter.
I finished The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead. I think it started off really well, but then it seemed to lose focus. I was a bit disappointed with it, especially since it won the Pulitzer. My review on goodreads

I just finished reading and reviewing The Secret Holocaust Diaries. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. It was a bit of a disappointment due to the way the information was arranged by the editors, as well as the content itself. The review (link above) explains more.
I finished Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie, a contemporary retelling of the story of Antigone. In spite of some flaws, I thought it was interesting to see how she wove the story of Antigone into her narrative. I gave it four stars. My review on goodreads

Just finished Paper Woman - rich and complex, and very well researched - and The Lover's Portrait: An Art Mystery, which was fast-paced and entertaining.
I'm currently reading the web serial The Wandering Inn.https://wanderinginn.wordpress.com/
It's a fantasy about a world that works like a video game and the hapless earthlings that suddenly find themselves there.
Simi wrote: "I just started reading Cinder from the Lunar Chronicles :)"Great series! Hope you enjoyed it at least as much as I did, if not more.
Read Algernon Blackwood's The Magic Mirror: Lost Ghost and Supernatural Stories - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2126948643.
Currently reading Crime and Punishment, but I'm pretty sure I'll need to intersperse shorter books every so often, rather than reading only this one straight through.
Lynda wrote: "Currently reading Crime and Punishment, but I'm pretty sure I'll need to intersperse shorter books every so often, rather than reading only this one straight through."Lynda, we're doing a group read on Crime and Punishment in the Classics and Western Canon group. We go through it slowly--a couple of chapters every week. You might want to consider joining. The discussion and analysis is detailed and interesting.
I'm feeling rich. I thought I'd read every Cadfael story there was, but I just found two I'd missed. What a delicious surprise.
My September 2017 book reviews post is up. If you want to see what I read last month, you can see the post by clicking on this link: http://ziglernews.blogspot.co.uk/2017...
Just finished The Hermit of Eyton Forest. Just starting The Heretic's Apprentice, both by Ellis Peters.
Finished Anita Desai's Clear Light of Day, a story about four siblings growing up in pre-partition India and the diverse paths their lives took in later years. I thought it was very well done. I love everything I've read by Anita Desai. My review on goodreads

Tamara wrote: "Lynda, we're doing a group read on Crime and Punishment in the Classics and Western Canon group."That sounds interesting! I'll give it a look, though I'm sure I'll be more of a lurker than an active participant. Thanks for the suggestion!
Currently reading The Three-Body Problem, by Liu Cixin. It's a multiple-award winner from China. Chinese science fiction is hot right now.
Reading Welcome to the Apocalypse, which I got from the Early Reviewers program on librarything.com.Listening to the audiobook of Dark Space Universe
Just finished reading LIVING THE MIRACLE CONSCIOUSNESS, Attaining the Kingdom of Greatest Eternal Good! ~ Heaven on Earth!. The author's way of writing is superb!
I finished
The Architect's Apprentice by Elif Shafak. It was an interesting blend of historical fact and fiction set in Istanbul during the 16th Century. I enjoyed it and gave it 4 stars. My review on goodreads

Now that I have finished Cinder, I'm reading the next book of the series, Scarlet. ♡□♡ IT IS FABULOUS, SO FAR!!!
I just finished The Dreams by Matthew Fleming, and reviewed it here. It was pretty decent for a first-time author in the horror genre.
Simi wrote: "Now that I have finished Cinder, I'm reading the next book of the series, Scarlet. ♡□♡ IT IS FABULOUS, SO FAR!!!"Cinder was a fun read! I hope you enjoy Scarlet!

I finished Robert Low's The Wolf Sea (Oathsworn #2). I preferred The Whale Road (Oathsworn #1) because I found it grittier and funnier, and more interesting. I did enjoy The Wolf Sea even though I thought it had some flaws. I recommend it for enthusiasts of historical fiction and all things Viking.

Hi, I just finished "Porcupine" by Julian Barnes. It is debatable just who is the porcupine in this story: Set in post-Socialist/Communist Soviet Union, the fictitious President of 33 years is tried for various crimes, which turn out to both be real and somewhat embelished by the prosecution. He, of course is found guilty and is banished. This novel was written/published around the mid-1990s, somewhat enjoyable but rather dry too.David Russell
Editor of the anthology
Waiting For Messiah
(faith-based fiction, EBook, 2017, major vendors.
Finished Deader Homes and Gardens
by Angie Fox
. It was a fun read and I give it a 4 star rating. Now, I will have to read her other books.
Just finished After the Armistice Ball which I enjoyed very much - my first by this author so I'm off to find the second.
