and a recent one by Stephen King - Pet Sematary - reviewed - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/5788347913

Began reading (for the 4th. time) The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.

It was a great start to the spooky season, and supports a self-published author. There is a second in the series, as well. Witchy and spooky and easy to read.

Began reading the first book of The Lord of the Rings trilogy - The Fellowhip Of The Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien for the fourth time.

The choice to present the narrative in first person with Imogen relating the story to her deceased friend works beautifully to provide grounded depth to the MC and real, believable, supporting characters seen through her POV.
To me, the choice of ending this book, part one of a trilogy, where the author did was a good one. It provided a satisfying and flushed-out story while setting up book two and making me want to see what happens next. I’m looking forward to the second installment.
