Before I started
I attempted (for the 3rd time) to read
. I once again failed. I have waved the white flag and posted the only review I could because I had been given a copy for a review. Never really had a DNF like this. Ah well.
I just finished Tin Men by Christopher Golden I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars and am currently reading Futureland by Walter Mosley.
I'm reading Franz Kafka's The Trial. The only other book by him that I've read is The Metamorphosis.
Alice wrote: "I'm reading Franz Kafka's The Trial. The only other book by him that I've read is The Metamorphosis."Thoroughly recommend The Castle
Just finished Shaun Harris' 'The Hemingway Thief.' Now reading Simon Winchester's 'Atlantic' and Scott Hunter's 'Black December.'
I finished Dumplin'. Then I read The Secret of Shadow Ranch, Liselle, and Knife and Fork. Now I'm reading The Complete H.P. Lovecraft Collection.
Just started 31 Treats and a Marriage by Lynn Farley-Rose. My verdict so far: light, touching, and humorous.
Finished the first in the Alan Bradley crime series, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie
and then read number 11 in the Cotswolds series, Shadows in the Cotswolds
.
The Anachronist Girls
If you loved The Time Travellers Wife--do be sure to find and read this excellent new book. I'm halfway through and trying to slow down, so I can make it last.

Leslie, thanks for the recommendation. I was beginning to get bored by the writing and slow pace in The Trial :(
Hi everyone. I have been absent for a while on Goodreads. I have been very busy getting my third manuscript ready. I am halfway there and wanted to take a minute to let everyone know that my second book, Possession, will be released soon. I do not have the exact date yet, it is in printing. Will let everyone know the exact date. This book is the second of my Discover Trilogy. The first, A Temptation, was released last September. I have to brag on the cover that my team came up with for Possession. I love it. Even more than A Temptation.
Any way, I just wanted to drop in and see how, and what everyone was doing. Have a great day!
Reading Simon Winchester's 'Atlantic,' Tim Hallinan's 'King Maybe' and Thomas Hollydays 'Slave Graves.'
I am currently working on Benjamin Wallace's "Dumb White Husband versus Zombies" (it's actually pretty funny) and Greg Iles' "The Quiet Game" (a book about a unsolved crime in Natchez, Mississippi). If they both keep up the way they have been going, they won't disappoint anyone looking for these types of books.
Hi everyone!I'm so mad at myself because I don't read as much as I used to. Since I've started writing, I prefer to do that. If you are looking for a new summer reading I'd like to invite you to check my novel out:
But the book I'm reading now is "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn. Although I have to say it hasn't been that exciting.

The Castle may well leave you screaming in frustration, but that is the whole point of the story!
I finished The Trial - not impressed. I appreciate that it's a bleak parody of legal justice, but I was just not moved by the characters or the plot. I like The Metamorphosis much better. My short review
I'm reading Watership Down for a change of mood :)

I like [book:The Metamorphosis|485..."People raved about Watership Down when it came out, but I remember not being that impressed. Perhaps I should give it another go?
Just finished 31 Treats and a Marriage and gave it four stars. Here is my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Leslie, I'm enjoying Watership Down so far. I guess you'd have to let the child in you take over while reading it. I adored The Wind in the Willows, which also has animals as characters.
Read three of the Agatha Raisin crime series - book 2 The Vicious Vet
, book 17 - Love, Lies and Liquor
and book 22 As the Pig Turns
Alice wrote: "Leslie, I'm enjoying Watership Down so far. I guess you'd have to let the child in you take over while reading it. I adored The Wind in the Willows, which also has animals ..."Both excellent books!
Here is my review of A Machine Made This Book: Ten Sketches of Computer Science by John Whitington: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just finished Angels Burning
which I didn't really enjoy and I have just started Lie in Plain Sight
.
I realize I'm a little late to this thread... But, I just finished reading a few different novels. The list is: Raven's Peak by Lincoln Cole
Killer With Three Heads by J.L. Hill
Crushing on the Rock Star by Darci Doll
Blood Magic by Ann Atkins
All Roads Lead To Terror: Coming of age in a post apocalyptic world by Richard Schiver
Also, The Reaping by Richard Schiver which is the second novel in the series. Pretty amazing books! I did reviews on all of them, too. Check them out.
I am doing research for my novel "Einstein's Compass: a novel of what if?Reading Jesus in Kashmir The Lost Tomb by Suzanne Olsson
found an interesting idea about E=mc2 that I may use.
Just finished reading "Freedom" by Ken Follett. I have an interest in Scottish/American history. A good read and it comes in audible.
Alice wrote: "Leslie, I'm enjoying Watership Down so far. I guess you'd have to let the child in you take over while reading it. I adored The Wind in the Willows, which also has animals ..."Wind in the Willows is fun, Watership Down I found a little too serious for its own good! As said, perhaps I need to give it another try sometime.
Just finished THE LAST ONE by Alexandra Oliva and it was a total blast. Not a genre I'd ever expect to read, but the hook was irresistible and the story SO well written.
The Sound of Thunder https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7... by Wilbur Smith, having just finished the first book in the series, When the Lion Feeds. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... Incredible saga - unfortunately I read Monsoon first, but it didn't detract as each book is also a stand-alone. Thoroughly recommended.

There are some hilarious scenes in The Wind in the Willows that are unforgettable :)
I've finished The Forest and the Farm, I absolutely loved it. It's one of the most engaging books I've read in a long time and I want to reread it. With all the awful things happening in the world, it was a refuge to escape into a lost in the mists of time world.
I just finished Shadow Prowler and found it both unique and interesting though didn't realize it is book one in a series until I finished it and, well, the story didn't really end.
