McKensie and Lara II :)
Laila groaned when he got there first, but she didn't hesitate to dive into the water after him. The cold was quite a shock, and she found herself paddling fast and hard to try and warm herself up. It was early summer, so it made sense that the water would be colder, but she wasn't expecting quite that much of a temperature drop. She found herself swimming next to Chris, trying to conserve body heat as they both got used to the water. "Well that was a little shocking." She chattered.Luke kept his face straight as he nudged her foot away, evading her for a moment, before pinning her toes down again, a little gleam of triumph in his eyes. "Sure we can share it." He promised, asking the waiter for an extra plate as his parents ordered. "The servings here are huge anyways." he assured.
Chris laughed and nodded "it's too cold for swimming..." He admitted but held her swimming for the both of them "I've always found you attractive wet love..." He promised and nuzzled her "I don't feel any fish."Kenna smiled "good...I'm glad, it sounds delicious...so when shpuld we plan the wedding?" She asked everyone at the table wishing her parents were there to celebrate with her. She felt sad knowing Laila was the first person she wanted to tell but they still weren't talking to each other.
Laila found herself blushing, but she laughed and pressed herself against him for warmth, tucking her face against the crook of his neck and shoulder. "Thank you?" she said, raising an eyebrow at him. His mention of fish caused her to tuck her her feet up, eyes wide in surprise. And then she realized that he had said there weren't any fish, and she relaxed again, sighing. "Whew." she said. "Want to lay out in the sun on the beach?" she suggested, as she was quite cold. Luke looked at his parents, who immediately started discussing a summer wedding. Luke smiled lightly, shaking his head. He turned to look at Kenna and squeezed her hand. "What season do you want our wedding in, love?" he asked. "I like the spring and summer, but I'm open to fall and winter as well." He assured. He saw her sad expression and knew what it was for. "She'll forgive us eventually Kenna, we just need to give her some time." he said softly.
Chris nodded and picked her up laying on the beach chairs and wrapping her up im the towel and snuggling close "my little mermaid is cold..." He chuckled and smiled "I have wetsuits for jet skiing so you won't be so cold," he assured and smiled nuzzling her cheek.Kenna texted Laila "I know you don't want to talk to me but...Luke and I are engaged and I have always wanted you to be my maid of honor. Hope you are doing ok." She smiled at Luke "I'd love a spring wedding...like a fairy garden..."
Laila grinned, stretching out beside him so she could let the heat of the sun, and the heat of his body help warm her up again. "I am a little." She agreed, wringing out her hair and then just relaxing beside him. "Wet suits will definitely help ward off the cold." She agreed. "Though I doubt they'll make me any better at jet skiing…" she laughed softly. Laila had left her phone inside the cottage, so naturally, she didn't get Kenna's text immediately.
Luke smiled brightly at her suggestion, having thought spring would be beautiful as well, and he nodded. "How about April?" he suggested. "I always thought April had the best flowers. Or May. Either month tends to be very beautiful."
Chris chuckled "just hold onto the back of me like a motor cycle and it'll be great!" He texted Krissy wondering how she was 'hey sis how was school yesterday? Keeping Andrew on his toes?"Kenna nodded and smiled "April tends to be rainy, May will be beautiful and that's your birthday month!" She said excited and hugged him "we could get married on your birthday that way you'll never forget our anniversary!"
Laila smiled then, nodding. "Alright. Guess that means I'll have to trust you as a driver." She said, shaking her head a little. She lay back on the chair, leaning her head back, and closed her eyes just soaking up the sun. Krissy texted back almost immediately. "Schools been alright. Andrew and I made a fort out of the table last night. It was awesome!"
Luke laughed then, nodding. "That is an amazing idea." he agreed, knowing he would need help being reminded about the date otherwise. "My birthday it is!" He said, just as the waiter set down their meal and extra plate. Luke beamed, scooping some for her onto her plate, and then raised his glass. "To us." He said, sipping the water before he started on his meal.
Chris chuckled and texted her back "that sounds really fun! I'm glad you are having a good time, how's munchkin?" He texted and smilef at Laila "you are going to be a tan goddess by the end of this week...how do you feel about that? Maybe we should head inside."Kenna giggled and toasted along with him as she ate her pasta smiling at every bite, it was so delicious. She sighed hating that Laila hadn't texted her back she knew she deserved this but she missed her best friend.
Krissy texted back immediately, her smile almost visible through the text message. "He's learning tricks! And he knows how to walk on a leash now!" Laila opened one eye and smiled lightly. "If only I tanned that easily…" she said, sitting up. She wrapped her towel around herself again and stood, walking towards the porch. "Ready for some lunch?" she inquired, as she opened up the door.
Luke finished up his dinner and even got a desert for him and Kenna to share. Afterwards, he said goodbye to his parents and walked home with Kenna, one arm around her shoulders. "Well that was a lot of fun." He said, smiling lightly at her as they reached his place. He unlocked the door and stepped inside, flicking on the lights.
Chris grinned and showed her the text message "munchkin seems to be doing really well Laila, Krissy is getting him to walk on the leash." He grabbed some samdwiches and chips sitting down with her "any messages on your phone?"Kenna giggled and smiled hugging him "congratulations big graduate!" She said excited and pulled out the cake she had made him "double decker pudding cake!" She said proudly getting forks and plates.
Laila beamed, swallowing a bite of sandwich. "Already walking on a leash! My goodness he's growing up fast." She shook her head, her smile soft. When he asked about her phone, she pulled it out and checked it, her heart immediately clenching. "Yeah. Kenna texted." She said softly, wondering if she should ignore it. Thinking of Kenna brought up too many painful memories now. But she still had been her best friend, so she texted back something short: 'congrats on your engagement.'Luke's eyes widened when he saw the cake and he beamed, hugging her tight. This was his favourite dessert. "Thanks love!" He sat down at the kitchen table with her and took one of the forks, slicing off a bit of the cake and trying it out. He beamed. "It's perfect!" He said, immediately taking another bite. He kissed Kenna's cheek quickly and dug into the cake.
Chris put his arm around her shoulders "she's trying love...you've been friends with her twice as long as you've known me. She wants you to be part of the wedding...just try ok? It's been a long time." He insisted stroking her hair back and nuzzling her neck kissing the nape.Kenna saw the text and her heart hurt she started to cry laying her head in her arms "I'll never get my best friend back..." She whispered sobbing "I just wanted to help and I ruin the best friendship I have had." She sniffed trying to stop crying but the tears just kept coming.
Laila winced, tensing a little. Did he not remember what had happened? Did he not remember that she had been torn from him and put in a hospital, and him put in a jail, because of her 'friends'? She shook her head, putting her phone down again. She didn't think she could ever forgive them for that. "I'll go to the wedding." She whispered. "But they are not my friends anymore." Friends don't betray each other.Luke glanced at the phone and the texts and he cringed. He knew it was his fault too. And it hurt him like it hurt Kenna. Laila had been his friend as well. "I..." He wrapped his arms around her, not sure what he should say. "I know it hurts." He whispered. "But we can only hope she'll forgive us one day." He whispered, stroking her hair.
Chris sighed "I remember it all, but they did it because they cared about you and were worried...it's time to forgive them Laila, they are human same as everyone else and it's obvious they miss you a lot...you can't just have one friend."Kenna swallowed and sobbed in his chest "I just want her back...I know she couldn't forgive me but...I just thought since she always wanted us to date...she'd be excited..." She sighed "how's the cake?"
Laila groaned and gripped her head in her hands. Now he was pushing her into something too? Laila liked to make decisions on her own. She liked to do something out of the good of her own heart, not because someone else told her too, and right now, she wasn't feeling like she could forgive her friends. Forgiveness isn't something you can force out of someone. "Just stop." She whispered, her face screwed up in pain. "Please." This was hard for her as it was. She only felt pain when she thought of the whole circumstance. And the guilt he was now pounding into her didn't help at all. Laila got up and went to the kitchen, grabbing a glass of water. She downed it in one gulp, letting herself dwell on the chilling feeling that sank to her stomach. Luke held her tightly against him, not saying anything for a while. He knew what she said was true. And he couldn't speak for Laila. He didn't know if she actually hated them, or if she was just trying to get payback, or if she was afraid of them now, or what. So he knew all they could do would be to give her time. She needed to get over her fears anyways. And maybe once they weren't so present, she'd realize that her friends still existed. Luke smiled softly. "The cakes amazing, love. How'd you manage to make it? It's just perfect!"
Chris sighed "I'm not trying to force you Laila...I love you I just want you happy." He said honestly watching her walk away "this fight doesn't seem to make you very happy..." He said honestly and got dressed quickly helping her with cleaning up lunch. "There are little stores around want to go shopping?"Kenna sniffed and smiled lightly "it's a secret recipe but it took awhile, glad you like it. I wanted to make this day perfect for you since I'm so proud of you!"
Laila nodded slowly, "I know." she replied. "I love you too. I'm sorry for getting so upset about this." She whispered, putting the cup down by the sink. She glanced over at him. "I do care about Kenna and Luke, Chris, which is why this is so hard… I just… I can't forget how awful it was to be in pain and in the hospital." She admitted. Luke smiled brightly. "Well I love it, and I can't believe the work that must have gone into it." He said, taking the fork and scooping off a bit. He fed it to her, smiling brightly. "You deserve some too." He insisted. "I may have graduated, but I couldn't have done that without you." He said, stealing a quick but passionate kiss.
Chris sighed "I know that...trust me I was the one stabbed and arrested I get it, but they brought me back to you and paid for my bail...that was pretty cool considering that Luke hates me." He reminded and kissed her neck "it's your decision..."Kenna pinned him to the couch kissing him deeper, she needed that passion it shut down get mind so she didn't have to think about anything but him. She spread the pudding on his face and licked it off slowly.
Laila nodded slowly. She had forgotten about that. They had gotten Chris out. They had made sure he could come see her again. Laila leaned into his touch, closing her eyes. She thought about it for a moment longer and then drunk in a deep breath, letting out slowly. "Ok. Thank you." She whispered, turning to kiss him quickly. "You're quite persuasive." She whispered, smiling softly. Luke grinned up at her, ready for a challenge. He kissed her when she came close enough, chuckling when something cold touched his face. He closed his face and held still as she cleaned him off again, and he shivered. When all the pudding was gone, he smiled, reaching up and catching her face so he could pull her down and kiss her passionately.
Chris smiled and nuzzled her gently "oh am I?" He squeezed her waist and smiled handing her, her phone "call her...I bet she'd love to hear from you. I'm going to go get the plumbing taken care of, the hot water isn't working as well." He pecked her cheek going to the storage room quickly.
Laila nodded, watching him walk away, a smile on her face, before she looked down at the phone in her hand. She sighed softly, punching in Kenna's number as she lifted the phone to her ear. She was very nervous about what would happen when Kenna answered the phone.
Kenna searched for her clothes strewn across the room and grabbed her phone nearly falling off the couch "hello?" She didn't even look to see who it was, she was resting on Luke before it rang.
Laila sighed softly when the voice came across the phone. She knew very well who it was, it was so familiar. "Hi Kenna." She said. "It's Laila. I'm just calling to say that I'm very happy for you and Luke, and I'd love to be at your wedding." She said softly, her smile faint.
Kenna nearly dropped the phone she was so surprised to hear her friend's voice "Lai...it's been so long, I couldn't be happier it wouldn't be the same without you! Chris is very welcome as well...I now know what a good guy he is, and I'm glad you have him." She said honestly her smile bright "will...will you be my maid of honor?"
Laila's hesitant smile grew a little more and she nodded. "Thank you, Kenna." She said. "I'm sure he'll be happy to get the invitation." she said. And then she nodded, her smile widening. "I'd love to." she agreed. "I'll probably trip and make a fool of myself. But I'd love to." she smiled brightly. "So how did it happen?"
Kenna smiled and cheered nearly elbowing Luke in the gut out of her excitement "oh my gosh thank you! And I don't care if you trip I'll probably do something embarrassing as well!" She giggled "well Luke graduated today and I was looking for him and it just came out, and he said yes. It was so perfect and his parents are happy about it."
Laila grinned, shaking her head. "So you proposed? I certainly didn't expect you to do that!" Laila exclaimed, shaking her head. "I am very happy for you both, I certainly have wanted this for a long time." She teased. "When is the wedding?"Luke grunted and then chuckled, nudging away Kenna's arm as he kissed her cheek. "Careful darling, your boy isn't invincible."
Kenna smiled and pecked Luke's lips softly before getting back to the phone call "next spring on Luke's birthday! This way he'll never forget our anniversary." She giggled and pulled his shirt on slowly getting off the couch "oh my gosh I forgot to wish you a happy birthday! Doing anything fun for it?"
Laila chuckled then. That was smart. Especially seeing that Luke tended to be forgetful. "Nice." She approved. Then she smiled softly. "Thank you." she said, nodding. "Chris and I are up at his cottage for a few days." She said, smiling a little then. "It's been great so far."
Kenna smiled "that sounds fun! What a nice romantic get away...have you...you know? Or are you still holding off?" She asked wondering how her friend handled the fear that she always had since being taken advantage of.
Laila blushed furiously and glanced down at her hands, smiling softly. "Not yet. Not yet, but I said that we could." She said honestly. "Eventually. We're taking it slow." she shrugged. "I do feel bad though, like I'm torturing him by making us wait." She admitted. She knew he wanted her badly, and she was flattered by that, but she also knew it was hard to wait, and she felt guilty keeping him away.
Kenna smiled lightly "he respects you enough to wait...I think that is very admirable! Just remember that your not trying to impress anyone that it's just you and him and the love you share..." She smiled at Luke as she said it "I made Luke wait a little...I felt self concious being pregnant but he made me feel beautiful and cherished and that's what mattered."
Laila nodded slowly, taking in her advice. It sounded lovely, what had happened between Kenna and Luke, and she wanted something like that. That surprised her, realizing that she wanted it. She had just been worried it would be like her first time. But now that Kenna said how lovely it could be, she found a sort of longing that she could share something like that with Chris. "Thanks, Kenna. That makes me feel better." She admitted. "Anything else I should know before it happens?" She asked, valuing having another girl to talk to.
Kenna bit her lip "it hurts some, he can be pretty rough but maybe that was just because he didn't really want to do it with me...Chris I mean, I bet he'll be gentle and loving. It's ok if you bleed a little and hot baths are the best with him. Are you going to wear protection?"
Laila nodded, absorbing that. Chris had been rough with her friend as well. That was one more thing she regretted about this whole situation… that it had been painful for Kenna. Sometimes she forgot that. That Kenna had to go through something similar to what she did, and yet she still enjoyed doing it with Luke. Laila wasn't too worried about Chris being rough with her. She figured her relationship with him was a little different from what his relationship to Kenna had been. But she was a little worried that it might hurt for other reasons than just going rough. Like bleeding? Laila chewed her lip, forcing herself to be brave. "I don't know about protection. Probably. I don't want babies yet. Chris and I agreed on that. But I am on the pill, have been since well… but anyways. I don't know if we need protection because of that." She explained. "And hot baths? Hot baths are good for me, after wards? Or he is good in a hot bath with me?" She asked, finding herself blushing more and more. Chris better not be anywhere nearby, or she felt she might want to sink into the floor.
Kenna felt her friends unease over the phone "hey relax...relax, it's ok...you don't even think about it when it's happening it's just you and him as one. It's amazing Laila the commitment you share with one another and the love that is overwhelming...afterwards a nice bath makes me feel better or doing it in the shower feels good too." She offered "just don't let this scare you, ok? I know your freaking out."
Laila sat down on the couch, nodding slowly as she raked a hand through her hair. She breathed deep for a moment, trying to calm her nerves. "Ok. Thank you Kenna." She said, leaning back against the back of the couch. "I'll just have to get used to the idea." she admitted. "It's not that I don't want it. I'm just afraid it will be like last time." she admitted. "And I've hinted at that to Chris, but I'm afraid of offending him by saying that he might make it anything near to last time. I'm sure he'll make it a whole lot more wonderful, its just this crazy irrational fear I have. So I just go with the 'I need to warm up to this'. Because that's true too, just… the fear this is the biggest factor." She huffed out a breath, realizing that she had just ranted. "I'm sorry, for spewing that on you…" she shook her head.
Kenna shook her head "I'm glad you did, and it's ok...I had the same fear, I didn't want to be hurt either though I trusted Luke with all my heart my first time have me a child...it was terrifying and once I got over that fear that he wasn't going to let anything happen to me I could enjoy myself...try tonight just like say you want to go in the hot tub or something but...skinny dip? I don't know I'm bad at this."
Laila nodded, letting herself believe Kenna's words. She just had to trust Chris. And she did, didn't she? Maybe not enough. And she wanted to trust him with everything. She laughed softly. "Alright. Well. Your methods seem to have worked for you, so…" She shook her head. "I'll try tonight. And if I'm brave enough I'll tell you how it goes. Have a good evening Kenna, thanks for talking with me." She said honestly. Her mind was a flutter with all the scenarios of how tonight could go, and how she could subtly ask for well… them to do it, without being too crazy obvious.
Kenna smiled "good luck, I'm so glad you called! Now I'm going to take my own advice and get into a hot bath with my love." She smiled and hung up to phone pouncing on Luke again, all the talking made her...restless.Chris came in shirtless covered in oil and pretty raggedy "I fixed the plumbing the shower will work now and the washing machine. He saw her smile and found one on his own face "good conversation I take it?"
Luke's eyes widened in surprise when Kenna suddenly hung up the phone and pounced on him. He had only half been listening to the conversation, so he wasn't expecting her to leap on him like that. But he immediately grinned, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her passionately. "My aren't you a little tiger." he murmured. Laila looked up and smiled when he came back in, not being able to help her soft blush. He didn't have a shirt on, and after what she and Kenna had just been talking about…. "Yes. it was a good conversation. Kenna and i are friends again." She promised, smiling softly. Her eyes ran down his torso and they widened slightly. "You're covered in grease!" She exclaimed, getting up from the couch. She grabbed his wrist and guided him to the washroom, turning on the shower. "We simply can't get grease stains all over your nice cottage." She scolded, turning the dial on the shower so the water was running hot.
Kenna smirked down at him "Rawr..." She said seductively and kissed him back deeply running her fingers through his hair "love you sexy man...thank you for everything..."Chris chickled "I love how I'm being forced into the shower..." He shook his head in amusenent "I think your just trying to find ways to get away from me!" He teased obviously thinking she was going to leave him to the shower alone.
Luke kissed her chin, closing his eyes as he let himself enjoy her fingers in his hair. He smiled. "You're welcome, love." He whispered, holding her close against him. "It is I that am the lucky one." he said, opening his eyes again to smile up at her. Laila smiled softly then. "Not forced, strongly advised." She corrected, teasing. She felt the water again, her heart pounding. She could leave now.... No. I'm going to see this through. "Who said I was leaving?" She asked softly. She paused for a moment, waiting for him to kick her out of the bathroom, and then turned, looking over her shoulder at him. She surveyed his state of dress and then smirked. "Please don't tell me you intend to shower with your pants on."
Chris blinked in a state of shock he swallowed and slowly grinned "I dont...but there usually isn't anyone to watch me shower...will it just be a peep show or are you joining me?" He asked raising a brow and wondering if she was serious about this. He wasn't sure if he was but he loved her and he wanted to show her, but what if he was too rough?
Laila's heart was hammering now, but she was sure about her decision. She glanced in the mirror, running a hand through her hair. "Does this look greasy to you?" She asked, glancing at him. "I think it's greasy. I might as well shower too." she said, smiling softly. "The water's hot now anyways. Wouldn't want to risk you taking up all the hot water." She teased. Steeling herself, She moved to the corner of the bathroom and started to undress.
Chris helped her wanting to be part of that experience as he kissed her softly gently touching her skin and smiling "you want to help me now?" He asked quietly not wanting to interrupt the moment. He smiled cupping her face "baby are you sure?...you know I'll wait as long as you need I want this to be special for you..." He said honestly and bumped his nose with hers.
Laila let him help and soon she found herself rather cold and wanting to get in the shower. She nodded then, hesitantly reaching down to help him out of his pants. Now that there were no clothes between them, Laila could feel her fear. She knew she was afraid, and she also knew that that was normal. She would always be afraid, and nothing would ever get better if she didn't learn to conquer her fears. So she wrapped her arms around him for comfort, strength, and warmth, and nodded, closing her eyes and smiling. "I'm sure, Chris. I trust you." She whispered.

Kenna giggled and pushed off from under his foot and put her foot over his but stayed calm above the table "that actually sounds yummy, I'll have the same maybe we can just share it?" She offered and smiled at him knowing how she would want to share it with him but not in public.
