I read a book in the early '80's about a young boy who finds and cares for a couple of owls. If I remember correctly, he found one of the oils in an oil drum, and has to clean off the owl. That is all I can remember, but I remember I loved the book...

This was probably published too late...Owls in the Family by Farley Mowat???
Edit: Found a version published in 1973, so maybe...
That is it! The book was published in 1962, and I read it in the 1980's. Thanks, I have thought about the book a few times, but I have not been able to find it.
