I liked the first season of the Walking Deadd...now I just find it frustrating. I will watch sometimes if my husband is watching and I'm working on the computer, but most of the time I tell him to just tell me what happened.

I used to love Republic of Tea's "Pink Lady Apple" tea. It was very good and also tart, but I think they stopped making it :(

The comic is just so much better, and usually I like the movie versions of comics. But I think they kind of just missed the point with the show.

I don't know if you've ever had Bedouin-style sage tea before, but I would look it up. It's absolutely delicious. I think you can buy it on Etsy and in some specialty tea shops. It doesn't sound sweet, but it really is; it has a really cool herb flavor to it.

Awesome! Thank you! I have a friend who is super into tea and he's encouraging me to try new stuff. I'm going to try and find all of these.

1. If you had to choose your five favorite books, what would they be? (No cheating! Only one book out of a series if it's your favorite series.)
You're killing me! Only five?
*The Time Traveler's Wife
*Odd Thomas (The first book is my favorite, but I like most of the series except the one in the monastery, it's just weird)
*Darkhouse(I love this entire series)
*Sense and Sensibility
*Storm Front (I love the Harry Dresden series)
2. What is your favorite sea creature?
I also love Octopi. I saw a show once, not sure if it was Discovery Channel or Animal Planet, where a scientist kept coming back to work and the fish would all be gone. This kept happening, so he set up a camera to see what was going on, and the octopus was lifting the lid off it's tank, pulling itself out and into the fish tank, eating all the fish, getting back into it's own tank and putting the lid back on. That's just cool!
I also have a healthy appreciation for sharks. I think they are fascinating but I'm terrified of them. I spent the biggest part of my life living in Florida, and bull sharks can go in very shallow water as well as in brackish water. I saw on a show that because of a hurricane, a bull shark had gotten as high up as Indiana (I think) via rivers. UGH! I like reading about them and watching shows about them but wouldn't want to do the shark diving that some people are into. Driving across the causeway to the airport once, there were three sharks circling in the water off to the side. I had nightmares about it later, and even now, one of my biggest fears (part of this is my mom's fault) is of going over a bridge in a car.
I like starfish too, and have a starfish tattoo to remind me of home. My cousin had a starfish and a sea horse as a pet in high school. After they died she dried them out and kept them as decorations, which has always creeped me out a bit.
Taryn, do you know much about cuttlefish? They're pretty cool.
3. Name one of your favorite television shows.
The Black List.
4. What is your favorite hot drink?
Chai tea.
5. What is one thing in your life that you would never, ever do?
See above - shark diving. Besides that - I don't think I would ever go sky diving. I try to force myself to do things that I'm afraid of so I can get over it...but I haven't yet been able to make myself do that. I dislike flying as it is.

That's cool you had dolphins in your wedding pics! There is a beach I love when I go back to Florida that always has dolphins playing in the background. Last time we were there, there was a manatee, which was cool to see.
And I agree, ranch is gross.

I do! I live on the beach and am from here, so the ocean has been a big part of my life. In high school, we take Oceanography classes, and have field trips deep sea fishing. Even though I'm a mountain girl at heart (mostly because I love the cold), I know the sea better. We used to swim right before hurricanes because the waves were so good. I look back at that and realize how stupid and crazy that was. But when you're an ocean girl you just come to know how to respect the ocean while still living with it. I do have a lot of nightmares about tsunamis though lol
Sorry tangent. But yes, cuttlefish are really cool. I also love deep sea creatures with their bioluminescence and weird eating habits. If you like sharks, you know the deep sea sharks that don't have to eat for years? They live so far down in the dark that they are basically blind (though most sharks don't have good eyesight anyway).

I'm the opposite of you... I live in the mountains but I'm an ocean girl at heart - and I hate being cold.... But I know what you mean. We used to play out in the hurricanes and tropical storms too. Stupid...but I survived. I hadn't heard of these deep sea sharks. I will have to look into them. There is something about sharks that just kick in that primitive fear mode.

For me, that sweat-inducing, brain-wrenching horror comes from tornadoes. Even on television the thought of them....no bueno. An ex boyfriend took me on a storm chasing team trip once because I wanted to face my fear, but I almost passed out. I didn't talk the whole time and he said even my lips got white lol Hey...I tried.
I mean look at this thing. It's a tunnel from the SKY to the GROUND. What?!

Tornadoes definitely suck, for lack of a more adequate word. The destruction that they wreak on people's homes and lives is devastating.
That being said, I've lived through a few...and when I was a teenager, I really wanted to be a storm chaser. Now that I'm older and my limbic system is fully developed I'm like, thanks but I'll pass.

Lol Your post made me laugh. But yeah, I think that's why I hate them so much. I lived in Iowa for three years when I was around 5-8, and my mom used to make us take pictures in front of them when they were miles out in the cornfields behind our house. Then we would all run into the storm shelter. (I love her, but she's damn crazy). Might have scarred me a little.....

1. If you had to choose your five favorite books, what would they be? (No cheating! Only one book out of a series if it's your favorite series.)
So I'm going to sort of cheat..... my 'favorite books' that have stayed with me in my mind and I still think of them are:
Middle school/High school reads:
A Cry In The Night - my first step into thrillers when I was in Middle School - we had to read for free time but then do a recap to the teacher while the other kids continued to read. So when I did mine - pretty much the whole first row was listening to me,lol
Watchers
Pet Sematary - Once I started Dean Koontz and Stephen King - I devoured a ton of their work. Now I don't read these authors but these kept me up reading way past my bed time.
The Red Tent
Leota's Garden
Interview with the Vampire - my first step into vampires and paranormal
The Shack: Where Tragedy Confronts Eternity ( this was a hard book to read and took me months because sometimes I could only read a page or two before I had to put it down
Ok - now my cheat - favorite series:
Magic Bites - Kate Daniels (written by a hubby/wife team)
Nalini Singh - Guild Hunter and Psy-Changeling series (I love them both equally)
Cut & Run - this whole series - love love love Ty and Zane
Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance/Demonica series -love love love)
#5 is a tie between Eileen Wilks - World of the Lupi and Patricia Briggs (Anna/Charles series as well as Mercy series)
2. What is your favorite sea creature? Dolphins if we are out in the ocean but when we go to Sea World - I love spending time at Sting Ray Bay with my daughter.
3. Name one of your favorite television shows. I don't watch lot of tv - but this season I 'watch' (and read, lol) with my family >> The Goldbergs(OMG - this is hilarious!!), Flash, Agents of Shield and Once Upon a Time. I've started watching Forever and sometimes I watch Sleepy Hollow (when I remember)
4. What is your favorite hot drink? Coffee - Venti Peppermint Mocha (non fat no whip - please)
5. What is one thing in your life that you would never, ever do? hmmmmm - there are a lot of things I don't like and really never want to do,lol. I'll probably never get a tattoo as I hate pain - some are really pretty though. Also I work in Long Term Care - just so you know tattoos and piercings - yeah, not so much - they don't look so good when you get older and your skin loses its elasticity. I hate roller coasters rides except for the little kids ones.
I have to tell you all I have been SkyDiving. Hubby and I did it for our 1 yr weeding anniversary. It was awesome. We did the jump where you go up higher and have a seasoned jumper on your back. It was fabulous - however once I was down on the ground - the guy asked me if I wanted to go again. Poor thing - "yeah, no I'm good, lol" I was glad I did it but I have no desire to do it again.

I also devoured almost all of Dean Koontz and Stephen King's books as a kid. I loved the thrills!
Have you seen that indoor skydiving place that opened out in Rosemont? Me and the hubs are thinking of trying it.
Want me to do another set of questions? So many of you answered and it was fun learning about you!
1. What is your favorite branch of science?
2. What are your favorite colors?
3. If you were on a desert island, what tool would you most want? (Only one, you cheaters!)
4. Have you ever had a near death experience? (If this one's too sensitive, obviously you don't have to answer it).
5. If you found one thousand dollars and know it didn't belong to anybody else, but you could only spend the $1000 on one thing, what would it be?
My answers:
1. I am a social scientist, so obviously those matter to me. But, if we are only talking about he hard sciences then I would have to say astrophysics. Even though I'm deathly afraid of space, something about astrophysics gives me a place in the universe.
2. Yellow, Mint Green, Orange
3. Axe
4. Weirdly I have many. But the one that scared me the most was coming really close to being in a plane crash over the ocean. I didn't realize how scared I was until afterwards though because there were two girls beside me crying, and I was trying to convince them everything was fine. But once we were out of danger, I realized how strongly my adrenaline had been kicking in and I almost immediately passed out.
5. A plane ticket to Austria. I have friends there that I haven't seen in two years. I found them randomly while I was couchsurfing in Saltzburg, and they were some of the greatest people I ever met. I've been all around the world, but Austria was one of my favorite places in the whole world. My other favorite was Turkey, but I think I'll avoid that for a hot minute.

Game of Thrones

I tried indoor skydiving with my daughter. We had a great time. You should try it!
I also have loved King's books since I was a teenager. I think I was in my 20s when I started reading Koontz. I have many of their books.

1. If you had to choose your five favorite books, what would they be? (No cheating! Only one book out of a series if it's your favorite series.)
I sincerely do not know the answer to this! My favorites change all the time. I'm not sure why but the Harry Potter series has a special place in my heart. Maybe just because I enjoyed the books and the movies and my kids also enjoyed them, so we would sit and have movie nights together....fun times. :)
2. What is your favorite sea creature?
Hmmm...probably a dolphin.
3. Name one of your favorite television shows.
I don't watch any TV shows. I used to have a bunch of favorites, but when I went back to school for my masters I was working, going to classes, doing an internship and taking care of a house and family, so no time for TV. (I'm not really sure when I slept...) I never got back into it.
4. What is your favorite hot drink?
Coffee. Definitely. Though I do like tea (particularly green or chamomile) and hot chocolate too.
5. What is one thing in your life that you would never, ever do?
Um...boy, never, huh? lol Bungee jumping. I would terrified to end up paralyzed or something.
Second set!! :)
1. What is your favorite branch of science?
I have to go with psychology. My degree is in mental health. I find it fascinating.
2. What are your favorite colors?
Favorite color has been blue for a very long time. I remember it being purple when I was a little girl.
3. If you were on a desert island, what tool would you most want? (Only one, you cheaters!)
Yikes! An axe? Too cut down trees for shelter and sharpen sticks for tools/weapons and even make sparks with a rock to start a fire. Oh yes! I want an axe. And MacGyver. Anyone remember him?
4. Have you ever had a near death experience? (If this one's too sensitive, obviously you don't have to answer it).
Nope.
5. If you found one thousand dollars and know it didn't belong to anybody else, but you could only spend the $1000 on one thing, what would it be?
Tough one! Maybe a cruise? I think if you have a roommate or two you could go on a cruise for $1000, right?

Mmm peppermint mocha is so good!
Tattoos don't really hurt that much. I'm kind of a baby about a lot of things but my first tattoo was nine butterflies up my back, and I've gotten two more tattoos since, and want more. On a side note...When I'm 80 or 90 I don't really think I will care all that much what it looks like...and they're all on the back side of my body so I won't have to see them all the time.
But to each their own.

1. If you had to choose your five favorite books, what would they be? (No cheating! Only one book out of a series if it's your favo..."
I've only gotten into Steven King as I've gotten older, but I've read almost everything Dean Koontz has written. I couldn't finish the Hideaway thought. I'll have to try it again as an adult, but as a teenager, I had to put it out on the front porch to even go to bed.
They have an indoor sky diving place in Orlando. I'd like to try that some time.

Astronomy. One of the things I like most about living in Arizona is how much of the stars you can see and how clearly (as compared with Florida and Ohio). We have light ordinances here, which are sucky when you're driving and night and can't see anything (no street lights), it makes for some great star gazing.
My second favorite is meteorology. I miss the passion of Florida storms. Arizona has monsoons but it's nothing like the thunder and lightning of Florida. My favorite part of meteorology is clouds - my favorite clouds are lenticular.
2. What are your favorite colors?
purple, chartreuse, orange
3. If you were on a desert island, what tool would you most want? (Only one, you cheaters!)
Magnesium fire starting tool...because without being able to make fire, I don't feel like much else matters...you need fire to keep predators away, to cook food, to purify water, etc.
4. Have you ever had a near death experience? (If this one's too sensitive, obviously you don't have to answer it).
I've been in a few bad car accidents... most recently two years ago I was stopped at a red light, and a woman was yelling at her children and didn't realize the light was red, and hit me hard pushing me through the intersection. It was scary, and I had whiplash, but other than that everyone was ok. Thankfully the children were wearing seatbelts.
The other accident was when I was 14 and my mom and I got hit, stopped, by a big orange county truck pulling a wood chipper, that had run a red light and were doing 45. It was crazy...all you could see was orange, and then afterwards, at first, complete silence. We thought we died.
5. If you found one thousand dollars and know it didn't belong to anybody else, but you could only spend the $1000 on one thing, what would it be?
If I was being responsible I'd put it towards my massive student loans. If I'm being irresponsible a plane ticket to Italy so I can see Botticelli's La Primavera in person.

Oh depending on the time of year and wear the cruise is going to, you can do a cruise for way less than that. I think my 5 day cruise from Miami to Cozumel was only $400...

FIRST SET OF QUESTIONS
1. If you had to choose your five favorite books, what would they be? (No cheating! Only one book out of a series if it's your favorite series.)
Wow, this is a hard question! So many to think about... Off the top of my head, I'd say Gone with the Wind, The Mists of Avalon, The Grapes of Wrath, A Wrinkle in Time, and The Screwtape Letters.
2. What is your favorite sea creature?
Hmmm... Not sure. Maybe jellyfish? Obviously not for interacting with! But one of our local aquariums has a stunningly beautiful exhibit of jellyfish.
3. Name one of your favorite television shows.
Favorite of all time is probably Lost. Second would be the most recent Battlestar Galactica. Currently, The Walking Dead.
4. What is your favorite hot drink?
I'm not a big fan of warm beverages, but I do enjoy an occasional hot chocolate.
5. What is one thing in your life that you would never, ever do?
I try to remember to never say never! But I have no desire to go sky diving or bungee jumping. Makes me feel nauseous just imagining it.
NEXT SET OF QUESTIONS!
1. What is your favorite branch of science?
Probably biology. I'm a nurse, so that seems most logical.
2. What are your favorite colors?
purple
3. If you were on a desert island, what tool would you most want? (Only one, you cheaters!)
Only one?!? Then probably a lighter!
4. Have you ever had a near death experience? (If this one's too sensitive, obviously you don't have to answer it).
No. It is interesting reading about others' experiences, though.
5. If you found one thousand dollars and know it didn't belong to anybody else, but you could only spend the $1000 on one thing, what would it be?
Realistically, I'd probably pay down debt! But if that wasn't a factor, I'd probably take my family on a road trip. If I couldn't do that, maybe a HUGE bookstore shopping spree? ;-)

Battlestar Galactica is one of my favorite shows too! I started watching it because my coworkers had started calling me Starbuck, but I didn't get the reference. Turns out, I make the same faces she makes when she is about to punch someone in the face. LOL It is kind of uncanny though. She's much prettier than me, but when she looks mischievous or is about to do something bad, we have the exact same face.

I have Buti Yoga Saturday morning, and then I'm starting my first karate lesson...other than that I don't know yet. It's the first weekend in a month where we don't have my stepkids...so we either will let loose and do something fun...or be boring and responsible and clean and do stuff around the house.

I've been working on my thesis like it's my life. I literally have been drinking spiked coffee all day for Halloween instead of making plans. One day, I will have my time back. lol I literally can't wait until December 2nd when I will be completely done with graduate school. Until the next time....
Hope you all are having a fun Halloween! Really wish I could play!

They also have a museum about the Salem witch trials that people go to. http://www.salemwitchmuseum.com/ There's lots of tourist things to do in Salem, but I think this is the most famous museum they have.
Be aware though, that many of the streets are blocked off on Halloween, sometimes for more than a day or two, so it can be hard to get around town.
