Ambi | 615 comments For the time being, I could only find around 20 books for vanity's sin bingo

message 102: by Ambi (new)

Ambi | 615 comments Most of the Dark Fantasy books aren't in the top shelves.

Annie...did you rule this book out as a graphic novel? It’s shelved as such 1..."

Oh shoot, I didn't realize that - thanks! Okay, then I think I'll read Caraval - that should work for sin bingo for Sloth. Is that cover blue enough?

I guess I'd say my favorites are Sloth and Vanity.

Thanks Midu! I found more for sloth than vanity. Still, it's something. :D

message 107: by Em (new)

Em (emmolga) Midu and Ambi, you both found so many books! my shelf only consisted of 20 books, and those are already a mix of only some of the sin bingo lol

message 108: by Em (last edited Sep 28, 2019 05:52PM) (new)

Em (emmolga) also i still gotta double check if those books truly fit for sin bingo or not. i think i mostly managed to check for cover and genre, but not yet for the third criteria 😂 Vanity is definitely a challenge too. somehow i only found newer books to fit the criterias.

message 109: by Ambi (new)

Ambi | 615 comments Thanks Em. I hope it helps us when the challenge starts.

Midu let me know which sins are left to search books for still. I would be glad to help. :D

message 110: by Ambi (new)

Ambi | 615 comments Ahoy Captains! Can someone combine the sin bingo websites in one of the first posts so it's easier to navigate through? That would be really helpful! :D

Sure can...I’ll be more available tomorrow night after I get home from vaca...will try to get links all to one place. Nikk can also transfer links to our planning SS.

I’m so excited about these lists...I’ve had very little time...hope to catch up this week.
Will pick up our prep as we’re approaching the one week mark before we start...countdown coming soon as well ;)

I have made a shelf for YA and Green covers (Envy) and putting together a list for Historical Romances and Pink (Gluttony). Then I'll move to Dark Fantasy and Blue (Sloth).

You're doing a shelf for Contemporary and Purple (Vanity). Dunno about any others, so Wrath and Lust are still up for grabs.

Tina ❣ (nutrinut) | 2010 comments I'll start looking and adding books after Wednesday. I must finish my last assignment before I get sucked in to

Also, I think my top 2 are gluttony and sloth. But lust is third ;)

Hi Tammie,

The post I was referring to was yours (it was an early one) and the link title is: Sin book Rec Thread.

Just for clarification...the Sin Rec Thread was born out of a suggestion for ALL teams to share ideas for Sin Bingo books. Not all teams are sharing. Feel free to share a few if you like.

I've listed Ambi and Midu's links at the top of our thread...Post #6...great starting place if you need books. Please everyone do a double check on criteria and put any questionables here so our mod group can do a ruling if you need that.
Thanks Ambi and Midu for doing this work!

message 126: by Ambi (new)

message 127: by Tammie (last edited Sep 29, 2019 07:02PM) (new)

Tammie Ambi wrote: "Our tower teams shelves?"

Everyone should have an individual tower team shelf...this is what I show for everyone...if you haven't already created your shelf, please do so...this shelf should be used for this challenge--completed books only...

This shelf will be used to calibrate points. It would also be very helpful if everyone could post what you are 'currently reading' so if we're trying to figure out where we are, we can have a look at your shelves. Our spreadsheet will be equally helpful.

Yeah ok! Thanks for the clarification! :)

message 129: by Midu (new)

Midu Hadi | 2744 comments The Historical Romance list is up. I am not too crazy about the choices, but at least we have something. https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

message 130: by Tammie (last edited Sep 30, 2019 06:35AM) (new)

Tammie Clearing up a potential misconception:
Pink books only need to be ‘historical romance’ if you are trying for Sin Bingo...if you are trying for sin bingo, then all 3 elements must be in place
Pink-HR-books w/ 600+ pgs OR Books in a very long series (12+ books) OR Books from a series or author that you can't stop binge reading OR Books that have covers you want to eat (i.e covers that have food or drink on them.

Said another way, you could read a pink book that is YA or a book that’s green and 1000 pgs, it just has to fit somewhere

message 131: by Mary (new)

Mary Hangen | 93 comments I would probably have to say my two faves are lust and envy.

Of course. I have noticed something else. Other than the color and genre, the third category (for sin bingo) is based on readers' personal preferences. For instance, my fave author might not be yours. So while I can claim sin bingo for that reason, you'd have to have another reason, like say, 600+ pages

Tammie Midu wrote: "Tammie wrote: "Clearing up a potential misconception:

Well said Midu! I just want everyone to be aware...these lists are just that...remember a book will qualify with just one of the 3 options...we get more points for color...even more points if all 3 are present...so shooting for color is 1st option...but we can always have back ups.

message 134: by Ambi (new)

Ambi | 615 comments Ok quick question! So the points that we get from page numbers is added to the points of the task? I mean I saw 800+ pages has more points but everyone's just talking about the points to be gained from sin tasks. Sorry, it's probably really basic but I'm playing this for the first time. :)

Good Q and Correct...it will make more sense once we get going.
The optimal book would be 800+ pages, qualify for SIN BINGO and be a BOM book. The Team Sheet might help visualize this.

And cook and clean and drive us to work every day Lol ;-)

Tammie I noticed that one of my personal fav YA books is on Midu’s list of green envy lists and qualifies for sin bingo as someone from another team has read it this year. If you all are up for having a team read...it doesn’t have to be this book...but I thought it might be fun if several wanted to read together.

Thoughts?

Tammie The Perks of Being a Wallflower, jammin Jenny read 9/21/19
You’d need to find a green version...there is a yellow and I think one other color out there.
I can start it whenever...so let me know the best timing...well need to be a bit flexible if a mini challenge comes along...

...actually my library says about 4 weeks out...so I could do around 11/1...

I’ll suggest if anyone has a green sin bingo rec...please do suggest it to the team w/ details

What's next?

message 144: by Midu (new)

Midu Hadi | 2744 comments Ambi wrote: "Most of the Dark Fantasy books aren't in the top shelves."
I've used the "Popular" list to get around that. We can always get a ruling from the mods before we begin a book that doesn't have Dark Fantasy as an MPG.

message 145: by Ambi (new)

Ambi | 615 comments Wrath and Lust is left.

message 146: by Tammie (last edited Oct 01, 2019 03:58PM) (new)

Tammie As team leaders have been ruling on book cover colors, I've added those to my book lists. I have several brown covers on there. I stuck the lists to the top so should be easily found if you want to incorporate what I have there. I've still a long way to go in figuring out what I'm planning to read.

If anyone is unsure of what a cover color is please post here for our team to decide. If we can't decide, then of our team captains will take to team captains thread for a ruling. MODs are a last resort...they will punish us if we step out of line...trust me on this :)

message 147: by Annie (new)

Annie K. The Perks of Being a Wallflower sounds great - I can get it whenever, so I can start whenever we're all ready.

Also, would this cover be considered blue?
Caraval (Caraval, #1) by Stephanie Garber

I counted it as blue because the background IS blue
