SOLVED. Book about girl finding out she's Jewish [s]

I read this book in seventh grade but I would love to read it again. So I remember that this girl finds out she's Jewish and it's her friend that exposes her. She points out that they don't eat pork and wear clean clothes on Sunday church. Her gramdma also burns their nails when they are clipped. I remember at the end she is burned by the town but her mom gives her this pill so that she doesn't feel it. I remember her describing that it felt like she was flying like a bird at the end. I think she was in love with someone too. The book cover was of a girl with brown hair and what looked like a gypsy style dress. I think it was called ember but I can't find it. It was a rather short book. Help me!!!!

When were you in 7th grade? Why was she burned for being Jewish? What was the setting--modern, dystopian, historical? How/where did you find it? Any memory of where in the alphabet the book was located? (First half, last half could even help.)
