Sally (mrsnolte) | -1 comments I am a very educated, grammar-sensitive English student. But I do not respond "doing well" when someone asks how I am. It just sounds arcane. I do not know why but it makes me loathe the person who responds with "doing well" when honestly, Im just asking for greeting's sake, not a grammar lesson.
And I work in a coffee shop, so I hear this all the time. I will never stop hating it.

Jamie Felton (jamiefelton) Ha, I know what you mean. It's one of those grammar rules that some people are sticklers for, but when you use "well", it usually ends up sounding silly. On the other hand though, I really hate when people use double superlatives. So sometimes I think grammar rules really should be followed otherwise you'll end up being hated by a lot of grammar sticklers.
