You can do letters in any order, and you don't have to complete a tagline before completing letters again. So if three members of the team read a book with the word 'believe' in the title, they can (if they want to), complete the word 'believe' in tagline 2, three times, without ever completing any other letters in that tagline x

Yes, that's fine, you can takes groups of letters as long as there are at least two letters next to each other. So you could use BEL for 'BELieve', and you could also use the RE to complete 'theRE' on tagline 3, giving you maximum bonus points x

Evelyn wrote: "okay so you said you cant use two letters more than once but can you claim THE and T if its from different words"
Yes, you can claim T twice if it's from two different words, but if you read a book called 'This Boy', you could claim 'this', but you couldn't then claim the T from This again. Does that make sense?

Hi Courtney,
you can take the 'ou', that's fine, and then you can take three other letters (but if the letters are single letters, they can only be taken from the start of a word), so you could only take the T if you took it as 'st' (for truST). Were you thinking of a different letter or a different edition? The single letters available are A,C, O, M, A, F, S, J, M ☺

Hi Lane, I'm really sorry but I don't really have time to add you right now, I'll try and pop on in the morning for you xx

Just working on our spreadsheet, and I'm not sure what to count this one for?
Star Wars: Thrawn: Treason
Is the title Star Wars? Thawn? or Treason? or would any of those letters work? HA! :)
Thanks!

We can't claim a letter for the next time through a tagline until the tagline we're working on is completely done, correct? Like I can't claim the TR in tagline #1, and also claim the W for the NEXT time we get to tagline #2.
I hope I'm asking that correctly...thanks in advance!

Hi Katie ☺ We have a blanket rule that where there is a colon ':' in a title, we always count the part in front of the colon and not the bit after, so for that title we'd count it as 'star wars' without the rest. It does look like there's some other editions which have different titles though - Treason, Verrat
If you stick with the 'star wars' title though, you could claim the 'st' towards 'truST', and the 'wa' towards 'WAnt', and the book is tagged sci-fi so that would give you the full 10 bonus points ☺

Hi Katie, you can complete the letters and taglines in any order that you like, it doesn't matter about completing one first before moving on to another, or completing letters that would be for a second run through, so if 5 of you read a book with the word 'trust' in the title, you can choose to complete the word 'trust' in tagline 1 'trust no one' five times without completing any of the other letters if you want to ☺

Also if we decided to read 2 book to reach the minimum for books read we can only take letters out of one book right? I just wanna make sure I understand the rules correctly.
Hi Courtney,
the minimum for regular books is 200 pages -
- YA, NA, Adult, Non-fiction books (without illustrations) - 200 pages.
If you read a book with 192 pages, you will receive a 1 for number of books read, and 3 page points. You will not be able to use any letters from the title of the book, or claim any other bonus points, because the book is under the minimum page count of 200 pages.
If you choose to read two books to reach the minimum page count you can only use one of their titles. This is because people reading larger books are not allowed to use more than one title for claiming bonus points, so the same applies to shorter books too.

*****Moderators Announcement*****
As of October 1st, we will no longer be using 'Series-Read-Along' threads for buddy read points in our challenges. This is because people find it too hard to work out what will and will not count when using a series thread.
We will honour any series-read-along threads which have already been set up for October, but rules do still apply with regards to the fact that you and your buddy are supposed to be reading the same book, at roughly the same time.
In future, we ask that separate threads are used for each book in a series. You may set these up in advance, but you may find it easier to plan these as you and your buddy progress through the series if you both want to earn the bonus buddy read points.
From November 1st, any buddy reads submitted for our challenges which have taken place on a series-read-along thread, will not receive any buddy read points.
Thank you x

*You may use other editions of a book which have a different title, as long as the title is made up of English letters. Please link to the edition you are using when posting your review ☺
Example -
Avis de tempête - A & T
Looking at that first example I assume we're allowed to use titles that are not made up of English letters (as ê is not an English letter), as long as we don't use these specific letters. So Das Spiel ist eröffnet would be fine to use, as long as I don't use the "ö", correct?
Hi GridGirl,
we tend to allow letters which have accents, such as ê and ö, as long as they are recognisable - so it's easy to see that ö could be replaced with o, and ê could be replaced with e. If we didn't allow people to use titles with those in, it would cut down the number of editions which could be used.
Thus, you are okay to use titles with letters with accents, and you can use those letters if you want to.
This rule mainly applies to titles which have letters or characters which aren't so easy to regognise. So titles with Chinese, Japanese, Arabic characters for example.
This means that you could use this title - Harry Potter à l'école des sorciers or this title Harry Potter i Kamień Filozoficzny
but you could not use هاري بوتر وحجر الفيلسوف or this edition Хари Потър и философският камък
Does that help?

I have been keeping an eye on the situation, I'm not quite sure why people have been slow to check-in. Hopefully, they'll come onto Goodreads to post their final reviews for September's challenge and check-in for October ☺

Hopefully. :)

Sarah/Maddie,
I've just looked over the threads, and I think when Sarah mentioned a duplicate chat thread I must have deleted both.

Regarding Team Fallen Angel chat - on the first message set up by Sarah, can we please have a link to the spreadsheet to help us monitor progress.
