Tamahome | 7216 comments I thought that said Benedict Cumberbatch.

message 152: by AndrewP (new)

AndrewP (andrewca) | 2667 comments Oh yes, Ben Aaronovitch, awesome idea. Would love to see Guy Ritchie make a Rivers of London movie :)

Not sure about Guy Ritchie, but yes, a movie could be awesome . . . Delay final judgment until I have read some of the sequels!

Iain Bertram (iain_bertram) | 1740 comments AndrewP wrote: "Oh yes, Ben Aaronovitch, awesome idea. Would love to see Guy Ritchie make a Rivers of London movie :)"

Christ no, I want a good movie. Definitely needs to be a UK police procedural.

message 155: by Silvana (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1803 comments Rivers of London would be a great miniseries like Broadchurch (funnier of course)

And Aaronovitch was Doctor Who's former writer, so TV would be more suitable maybe.

Why not?

She is the best (IMO) comic book artist in the world at the moment.

I think an interview with her and Brian K. Vaughan about "Saga" and their other works would be a great interview

Ah. Possible misunderstanding. If you are back at the stated theme of this thread and proposing her for an interview, then sorry, I misunderstood, no problem at all.
I thought you were following the immediately-preceding posts, and proposing her for involvement in a film of Rivers Of London - and for that, No, her techniques are not appropriate.

message 160: by James (new)

James | 1 comments James Islington

message 161: by Jim (new)

Jim | 3 comments How about:

Stephen King... Dark Tower is coming to the big screen this summer!
Garth Nix
Andrzej Sapkowski ... As long as language isn't a problem. I think he would be a great guest.

message 162: by Alex (new)

Alex | 32 comments Ann and Jeff Vandermeer.

Jeff has a new book coming out, Borne.
They have edited the Big Book of Science Fiction and are working on the Big Book of Classic Fantasy.

Seems like a perfect fit for S&L.

message 163: by David H. (new)

David H. (bochordonline) How about Rachel Cordasco? @Rcordas

She does the SF In Translation website, always promoting translated works online and other places.

message 164: by Tom (new)

Tom McLean | 3 comments Would love to hear an interview with Tal Klein (author of one of my favorite SF books of the year, The Punch Escrow). I've seen some interviews with him online and he wrote a really interesting piece on the future of 3D printing and replication on boingboing.

message 165: by Ed (last edited Feb 27, 2018 05:41PM) (new)

CJ Cherryh
Robert Reed (of, among other books, Marrow)
Yoon Ha Lee
Joan Vinge
Roberta MacAvoy
Nicola Griffith

message 166: by Kev (new)

Kev (sporadicreviews) | 667 comments Delilah S. Dawson. Not sure what else SF/F she's written - I know she's written a couple pieces in the Star Wars universe. I saw her on a couple of panels at ECCC this past weekend and she's well-spoken and funny.

Tina (javabird) | 765 comments Mur Lafferty

Phil On The Hill (philonthehillexon) | 263 comments I would love you to interview one of the up and coming British Women authors: Emma Newman,Anna Stephens, Vic James, Jen Williams etc.

message 173: by Rod (new)

Rod (terez07) Author Sangu Mandanna is writing a fascinating and fantastic fantasy series based on South Asian mythology and traditions. She would make a great interview subject

message 174: by Stephen (new)

Stephen | 1 comments As he nears the completion of 43 years of Shannara stories, I think it would be cool for you to interview Terry Brooks. He has such great insight on the industry and is beloved by his fans.

S&L did interview Terry back in 2013, but it doesn't look like the video is available to watch :-?

message 176: by Silvana (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 1803 comments I'd love S&L to interview the editors of semiprozines like FIYAH, Uncanny, and Strange Horizons.

message 177: by Tamahome (new)

Tamahome | 7216 comments Martha "Murderbot" Wells. I've heard her say she has a lot of free time.

message 179: by Iain (new)

Iain Bertram (iain_bertram) | 1740 comments We haven't read any of his books but John Birmingham might be a lot of fun to interview.

message 180: by Sembazuru (new)

Sembazuru | 29 comments There are lots of really good suggestions above. A couple that I can think of that I may have missed scanning all the suggestions so far:
Brandon Sanderson
Eric Flint
Marie Brennan (I'm currently reading her Doppleganger Omnibus)

And a suggestion that I'm surprised that I haven't seen as a guest host idea is LeVar Burton. (I also follow his LeVar Burton Reads podcast.)

If you want to see who has been interviewed. We have a page on the S&L Wiki that shows all interviewees:

I second this and add Janet Edwards to the list.

message 187: by Ian (RebelGeek) (new)

Ian (RebelGeek) Seal (rebel-geek) | 860 comments T. Kingfisher
Jonathan Maberry
Jim Butcher

not an author, but audiobook narrator extraordinaire Ray Porter would be a cool interview.

Jemisin has been on, as has Butcher.

message 190: by John (Taloni) (new)

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5193 comments Could we get Larry Niven? He's getting up there in age, would be nice to get him on. Maybe a duo with Steven Barnes? Well, I can dream.

Heh. Well as long as we are dreaming, summon Jerry Pournelle's ghost too! 😃

message 192: by Tamahome (new)

Tamahome | 7216 comments Now you can get Jim Butcher and his son James Butcher who has a new book that looks Dresden Filesy.

message 193: by John (Taloni) (new)

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5193 comments ^ My wife bought that book thinking it was Jim Butcher. She says it's actually pretty good. I might check it out if the TBR gets low.

message 194: by Tamahome (last edited Oct 19, 2022 12:44PM) (new)

Tamahome | 7216 comments It seems like a somewhat sketchy marketing tactic, but Brian Lee Durfee liked the book. He said the fighting was more grounded.

message 195: by Trike (new)

Trike | 11192 comments I had no idea Jim Butcher had kids. So a quick search reveals that James was born about a month before Jim turned 20. Jim Sr. will be 51 next week, while James Jr. recently turned 31. 10-26-71 and 9-20-91.

message 197: by Tamahome (last edited Nov 07, 2022 07:15AM) (new)

Tamahome | 7216 comments Lauren Beukes might be good since The Shining Girls became a tv series. Although I have a weird deja vu feeling it's been done already. Maybe a time traveling serial killer changed things.

I'd like to see more books set in Australia.
