I remember a floating rock that holds the treasury and it needs magic heavy dust that is pricey to weigh it down so it doesn't float away. The main character is like an elven boy or something with other mythical creatures like translucent walking and talking creatures and hog like things. There's ships (boat) that float using the magic dust, too. There's the city on the edge of a cliff and then the bleached lands and then the magical forest that's dust makes you hallucinate so these birds have to show you the way through the forest and they're not trust worthy and steal your stuff. Please help!!

It sounds like it might be The Edge Chronicles. There are 11 or 12 books in the series and each one takes place somewhere different (forests, floating cities, the badlands, etc.) Beyond the Deepwoods is one of the books in the series by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell.
