I read half of Haunted. This is probably one the most vile and sadistic books I have ever read.

Yeah, I posted a small summary above. It is supposed to be quite awful. Rob makes it sound like modern version of a de Sade book.
It's just so silly! 50 pages used to be my daily minimum, but now it's the most I've read in a single day in months! When did I enter the Twilight Zone? :P
Finished NOS4A2. Reminded me a lot of some of Stephen King's earlier work. Glad that the other books I have planned for readathon are shorter!
My readathon so far:Finished:
Mile 81
The Dune
And I'm 72% through The Invisible Man. Page total around 140 pages.
Sandy wrote: "Never mind, Faye, I'm with you. I did 78 pages yesterday, but not a single page today (yet). I have spent all my reading time cleaning out the e-mail in-box and dealing with the business from that! I really shouldn't let it pile up for three months!"
Ugh, I hate doing e-mail maintenance! I hope you can get back to the reading soon. :)

I wasn't going to do the Readathon this time as I knew I wouldn't be able to read, especially with guests at home and hubby back from travels after a long time! I was planning to get vicarious pleasure out of your comments but couldn't help sneak in and read.. So here's my update..Read about 140 pages of The Silence of the Lambs
and another 30 pages of Royal Assassin.
Mentioning only those pages that I read after the start of the event on Friday. So Yayyy am happy :)
Wow, people are making amazing progress!!! Great job everyone. I'm hoping to get some reading done tomorrow.
I've been reading a few horror themed books from the beginning of the month (same as Amber) and I wasn't going to join the Readathon as I work on Saturdays and the weekend is mostly spent catching up with family, friends and chores, urg! but then I realised that the Readathon duration is not limited to the weekend but lasts the whole week (Thanks Sandy for posting the rules link). So here's my list, started on Friday:
The Yellow Wallpaper
The Haunting of Hill House
at currently at 90% of The Screaming Staircase
total pages: 616
but my trump card is tomorrow (Monday) being Labour day in NZ, I hope to have quite a bit of reading done, Yay!
I finished Haunted. I thought it was okay but I would not read this book if you have a weak stomach. According the Wikipedia page, people have fainted during the reading of "Guts", which is a mini story in the book.
WOW not for me then, thanks for the warning Rob!On the other hand, if anyone is looking for a great spine-chilling story without the gore and with a mystery twist I highly recommend The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud, don't be put off by the YA genre, the writing is excellent (and the audio splendid)!
Saturday:Finished A Good Man Is Hard To Find 20 pgs.
Finished The Black Cat 10 pgs.
Working on The Body 68 pgs.
Working on Frankenstein 19 pgs.
Working on The Charioteer 18 pgs.

Finished The Invisible man, and I'm 30 pages into Fahrenheit 451. 3 books finished and 200 pages so far in my readathon.

May have a few slow days as my cat needs a lot of TLC at the moment!
Couldn't get back to sleep so I read some short stories...
"The Birthmark" : 50 pages
"Dr. Heidegger's Experiment" : 32 pages
"Rappaccini's Daughter" : 50 pages
<3 <3 Hawthorne <3 <3

I'm 113 pages away from finishing a seventeen story horror short story collection called A Murder of Crows and its a pretty good read. It reminds me of Tales from the Crypt and are you afraid of the dark except the stories are told by crows who tell them to a little girl.
Hi. I didn't get much reading yesterday. I'm currently reading Pleasure Unbound and I only got 32 pages into it. I don't know how much I'll read today since it's my daughters birthday today but we'll see.
I read 7 books yesterday, and started The Woman in White for another GR group. I read 92 pages of that, giving me a total of 2004 pages.
After 2 days, I am now at 100 pages. At least I'm consistent. :)
It's Dracula that I'm reading, btw.

Iasa, thank you for asking about the party! It was a really big success and the house survived. We were up until one am the night before decorating and then everyone stayed until about 10 pm. Today we have a smaller group of family here so I'm not getting much reading done. Plus, I caught a cold from one of the germ collectors ;). All in all, a success! My reading will have to wait until tomorrow and I will be able to catch up on all the posts then as well. From my quick glances, it looks like everyone is having a great time and making a ton of progress! Good job everyone.
Listening to Moving The Mountain as I do chores and run errands. About 3/4 through. 220 pages. Starting to struggle with it. Slow going. More like a drawn out lecture on the delights of socialism than a Utopian novel. :p
Good to know, Sandy! I'm gonna try to finish MtM tomorrow on the way to work. I just can't take anymore tonight. :p
Done with Farenheit 451, and just started Rage. If everything goes well, I'll have it done by today.
Enjoy Rage, Gavin! I read it as a teenager, and it was one of my favorite King books. How did you find it? Secondhand copy, audio book?
Becca wrote: "Just finished book #2 Vampire Academy for a total of 1032 pages so far."And HERE is the real reason you weren't interested in coming to the book festival, mom :)
I've managed to finish two books so far. The Seer of Shadowsand If You're Reading This Next up is to make more progress on Dracula - determined to finish before the challenge is up.I spent the entire day yesterday at the Texas Book Festival so I have added far more to my TBR than I have crossed off!
I've only got 30 pages so I'm a bit behind on the readathon - but it was expected. We have been moving all weekend.
I read one this weekend that is a horror short story collection called A Murder of Crows and it was a pretty good read. I finished it today and got it as a free ebook download on goodreads.
So far I've readNOS4A2 692
Vampire Academy 340
The Man Who would be King 40
Coraline 208
We have always lived in the Castle. 228
for a total of 1508 pages, plus parts of two other books.
I'll have to slow down now. For some reason they expect me to come to work.
Sunday 10/26-Frankenstein 10 pages
-The Body 68 pages
-The Charioteer 49 pages
-Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? 18 pages
Total for Sunday = 145 Pages
I've finally emerged out from the other side of that cold, yay! A bit of a poor effort on my part, but I was ill and found one of the books a tad too depressing to get through in my feeble state!A Thousand Acres - finished off, 187 pages
Dracula - currently at 156 pages.
Total as at Thursday 30th: 343 pages
Finished reading Ticktock. Just now starting to read my second book Pet Sematary.Total pages read so far: 352
