October Book Discussions - Deadline by Sandra Brown

We'll make this a Spoiler Zone on Oct. 15. I'm got 2 other books to finish before I start this one but looking forward to it!

As an aside, I've also been listening to

Probably just a personality thing.
The hero in Mean Streak started off in the ditch, too. Sort of how Sandra Brown creates her characters, at least those I've read.

I agree...I tend to like these type heroes. They kind of break the "hero" mold - even do some unhero type things but always come through in the end.

I liked both but Mirror Image more.

I've only just started reading this one. I will say it hasn't snagged me quite the way Mean Streak did but I'm only a few chapters into it. It's interesting & intriguing but I'm not feeling a pull with the characters either...yet.
Great Karen. This one is beginning to get that "creepy, scary" feeling...you know someone is watching but who??

I think my head just wasn't in it the first couple of chapters...got it on straight now & really pulled into it now.

I loved this book! Wow...Sandra Brown has a way of continuing to build the suspense & then she gets you with shocker after shocker right up until the end. Very close to the end, just when I thought everything was all wrapped up, she did it again! Awesome read!

I figured out a few things but those shockers near the end - even after that, she's still not finished throwing curve balls at you! Wow...awesome read.
Sorry you're not enjoying it, Kirsten. As much as we all enjoy a lot of the same books, we're also different...this book may just not be for you. It didn't take long for me to be totally hooked.
I understand what you're saying. Sometimes, I read a book like that & often everyone else loved it but I didn't. Hope it picks up for you.
I agree with Sandra. It grabbed me from the start so sometimes a book that works for others may just not be your cup of tea. Sorry it's not doing it for you.
I'm excited to discuss this one. I need to count just how many times in the last few chapters that she surprised/shocked me! Spoiler Zone starts here on the 15th! :)
The action/suspense really ramps up in the latter part. I just love when an author can surprise me - and when she can do it more than once in the same book, she goes way up my list of Must Read Authors. I'm already trying to decide on my next Brown book!

I think you'd really like Mirror Image and Lethal.
