This book I definitely didn't find as good as #1. It started off great, with a POV of a character I love, but it turns out we only get that POV once. It was jarring to me. I didn't like the whole jealousy plot, it always irks me. And the way everyone accepts Catherine, and those who don't she wins over. I definitely did grow on the parts in the demon world. Interested in #3!

Review:
After six months on the run from his former employers, John Milton turns up in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, just in time to become involved when a bunch of cartel killers shoot up a restaurant aiming to kill a journalist named Caterina Moreno who's been publishing stories about the cartel's crimes. Determined to keep her safe until he can find a way to smuggle her across the border to the US, Milton teams up with a local cop a few days short of retirement and an American bounty hunter going after the same man trying to take out the journalist.
Fastpaced action I sped through in one sitting. Anna seems like an interesting character, I'm very much hoping to see more of her in the next book.

Review: Yeeesssss another amazing book in the series (I'm officially a new Molli Moran fan!)
So happy to see that this one follows another of the brothers. I love that most NA books do this! Breaks up the characters but also gives us insight to other characters we know of.
I just adored Reece and Lanie! But my favourite part of this book has to be Jamie. I love the depth to these characters, the background and history, and all of the relationships with the other characters in the books as well. Not just about the two people in the relationship, but about who's around them as well. So important.

Angie, we'll both have 3 books from the same series with this one. The Dresden Files are re-reads for you, right? So we'll have the 3 books bonus nailed down with that since re-reads can't be used for the complete series bonus. :)
I intend to keep going with the John Milton books for the complete series point. (There are 15 books out, so we won't get the bonus until I've read book #9, unless someone else can fit in a complete shorter series.)

Book: The Driver by Mark Dawson
Qualification: John Milton #3

Finished: 22 Sep 2019

Review:
Milton has found employment as a taxi driver in San Francisco, and everything's going well until his urge to make amends for his past by helping people in need once again gets him into trouble. A girl he drove to a party has gone missing and her boyfriend is reaching out for help when the police don't seem to care much. Once a couple of bodies turn up, however, they're suddenly very interested - and Milton is their prime suspect.
A quick read that kept me entertained, though I was a little disappointed not to see Anna again in this one. Hopefully the subplot involving her will pick up again soon. And if Milton could at some point develop a self-preservation instinct instead of running headlong into TSTL territory in every single book, that'd be great, too...

If you have a min. 4 book series you haven't read before that you can squeeze in for the complete series bonus so we can get that point earlier, by all means go for it!

Okay. I found a cozy mystery series that will work.

Dresden Files is a re~read for me.

I don't believe I'll need a pass for next roll if I can count this book as #3 in series

Sooo Trophy Husband is officially listed as #3 in series on Goodreads, but I heard mixed things about it, so I sent the author Lauren Blakely a message on GR asking her what the deal with the series is.
Lauren: Hi! I wouldn't read Trophy Husband personally! I was not happy with the story and I felt it could be vastly improved. That's why I rewrote it - The Dating Proposal is a completing reimagining of the story and it's a much better story now IMHO. I would read The Dating Proposal, but it does work just fine as a standalone :) LMK if that helps
I then responded with: Also on your blog it doesn't list #4 in that series either, just jumps from #1, #2 to #5. Does this mean we should only read those 3 for the proper series experience?
And she replied: The series was renumbered and rearranged a few times. Stars in Their Eyes was part of it and was then moved into its own series and is now My Charming Rival and My Sexy Rival. The series for now is Caught Up In Us, Pretending He's Mine and Playing with Her Heart. All work as standalones :)

So if I can count Playing With Her Heart (#5 GR, #3 by author), as a #3 in series then I won't need a break this week, as I'll have time for that audio in the car.

Sooo Trop..."
Oh boy. XD Methinks that lady needs to make up her mind about how her books ought to be organized! :D
However, the rules do address this pretty clearly:
✸ Series # will be based on how GR has it listed.
So I'm afraid as long as GR has it listed as #5, it counts as a #5 for the purposes of this game. :)

Denise, I changed my book from #2 in the series to #3.

Book: Aunt Bessie Considers
Qualification: Isle of Man #3
Pages: 236
Rating: 3 stars
Review: The author tried to portray Aunt Bessie as a Miss Marple, elderly, friendly confidant to the townsfolk. It didn't quite work. At least Aunt Bessie was on good terms with the local police.
There were many inconsistencies. The main character would complain if she didn't get enough sleep and then would get upset if people mentioned how old she was. Also the main character would complain that her feet hurt, but then she would go for a long walk to stretch her legs. The book was in sad need of an editor.

The Secret in the Old Attic
Qualification: Nancy Drew #21
Pages: 204
Finished: 9/16/19
Rating: 3 stars
Review: This Nancy Drew mystery had an interesting theme. The theft of intellectual property and patented formulas. I thought that these were quite deep for a teenager back then, but I suppose that everyone needs to be aware of this type of thing happening. Nancy is much more in danger in this book as well.
