Doesn't this qualify for the 2 in 1 bonus point - spot and alternate? Or, did we already get that point?

Qualification: #3 in the Snow Like Ashes Series
Finished: October 13, 2019
Rating: 3 stars
Review: The third and final book of the Snow Like Ashes trilogy was okay. The Season and the Rhythm nations need to unite against the Decay or be completely taken over. They rest their fate in the hands of Meira, the Winter Queen.
I read the first 2 books in the series over a year ago and maybe I shouldn't have left such a gap as I just wasn't as invested in the characters. They seemed a bit flat and angsty at this point and there was a definite overuse of the phrase "dear heart". That said it was a fast read as I wanted to know what would happen next every chapter. I'm glad that I was able to finish of the trilogy.

How it Fits: Southern Scrimmage # 3
Read: 10/13/19
Rated: 5 Stars
Review: Continuation of the Southern Scrimmage series. The book focuses on Judah (Jude) Levy and William (Slayer) Slater. they are both "straight" men who go "gay for You" We see the previous couples from the series. there is a bunch of angst not all of it brought by the main characters. in a book this long you have to expect that there will be some twists from the main plot line. But the twists are entertaining and don't distract from the romance.

Review ~ Not sure how I feel about it. I liked many things about it but not sure I Loved It. Dare I say it was just a tad better than Phury Book??
Say it isn't so...

Unfortunately yes! Boone & Helena were an adorable couple. A little too sweet for my taste, tho. It has a good old fashion mystery. It just wasn't un-put-downable.
The Best Part...
The Brothers, of course.

Book: Holy Sister by Mark Lawrence
Qualification: 3rd in Book of the Ancestor series
Finished: Oct 18
Rating: ★★★★★
Review:
This was so good! Book of the Ancestor is one of the best series I've read recently. It's dark fantasy with elements of sci fi, crazy creative world-building, gorgeously written, and starring some amazing characters. Holy Sister is the last one of the trilogy and I thought it a superb conclusion. Last few chapters were on the edge of the seat and also heartbreaking. The story makes a full circle and as much as I didn't want it to end, I'm very satisfied with it.
Yup, one more. I'm about to go out, going to make the links post now and will be checking for updates from my phone :)

Review: Susan is pregnant, in jail, awaiting trial for the murder of her lover and child's father. She refuses to tell anyone what happened, mainly to protect her baby from finding out anything negative about his/her father. Her friends, family, and the detective who investigated believe there is more to what happened and confused about why Susan won't talk about what happened.
There's a lot going on in this story. Although you can read it as a stand alone, it was a little confusing at the beginning following where the story started, why, the characters, and what was going on. Not knowing the back story really impacted my enjoyment for the first 20% of the book. Especially when the characters refer to something that happened in the previous books. I think if I had read the first 2 books first, in order, I would have given a higher rating. My plan is to do just that and then re-read The Empty Place.
Great, thanks, Shelley! I'll update the links when I'm back but we can roll now! Mama, are you up for it or would you like me to? :)

If you have a tablet, laptop, or desktop you can download the libby or overdrive apps and link to your library card. Browse and download audio and ebooks. App works with most libraries.

Review: Rosie stayed home in Marietta, Montana to take care of her diabetic father. Now that he has passed, she is anxious to start a "new" life as a young adult and join her brother in screenwriting in LA but is waiting on the sell of her childhood house. While waiting on the sale, she continues her work at the local artisan chocolate shop and takes interest in a new repeat customer, a handsome cowboy.
The story is fun fluff and reasonably predictable but with a nice twist of the cowboy adjusting to being a caretaker to his sister. The secondary characters have spin off stories that are hinted at so I may have to check them out as well.

Now this is a book that follow previous books set in her Cadelonian Series (an unnumbered series). Now this is set about a decade after the Lord of the White Hell, Book 1 and Lord of the White Hell, Book 2. Narsi who was a young boy at the time of those novels made a pledge to help Lord Atreau Videya who gave him the money he needed to go to medical school. Since giving the oath NArsi is now a Master physician and Atreau is a spy master for the Duke of Rauma. they are both caught up in stopping a war that could destroy their world. this is the first book of the master of Restless shadows and the action is just starting to get more intense, I am eagerly awaiting the next book.

Review: Myriam returns to practicing law after an old friend offers her a position with his practice. She and Paul hire Louise, the "perfect nanny" for their 2 young children.
The children love Louise. Right from the begining Louise takes charge. She gets the daughter's behavior under control. She's an extraordinary cook and housekeeper. She organizes the home. Myriam and Paul brag about what a treasure they found in Louise. Louise has issues. Major issues. In the beginning, my heart broke for Myriam. As the story progressed, I found Louise the more sympathic of the three.

Kestor's mothers dying request was that he find Dr. Ribero and tell him who he is. He finds Dr. Ribero and he gets involved with his Agency of the Supernatural. He feels like a fish out of water there and needs to find his inner talent to get rid of the Green-Dressed Ghost.
The book had a slow beginning but by the end I couldn't put it down and really enjoyed the ending.

My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell
Week #8
Spot: 61
Book:
Qualification: 1st in The Corfu Trilogy
Finished: Oct 24
Rating: ★★★★1/5
Review:
A reread of a childhood favourite. This book is a semi-autobiographical account of the life of Gerald Durrell's family on the Greek island of Corfu when he was ten years old. Durrell was a well-known naturalist and zookeeper but also a terrific writer. His descriptions of flora and fauna of Corfu are so vibrant and beautiful, and various misadventures of his siblings and numerous animals are absolutely hilarious! I was worried to revisit a book from so long ago on account of it hadn't aged well, but I needn't have worried, it was as delightful and fun as I remember it!
Ya'll! I haven't even started my book!!
So do we have a free pass? Cause it will Def be a couple of days.
So. Terribly. Sorry!!!
