Review

I was really excited for this book, because the premise was so good and creepy. I love books with Fae in it, so I thought this would be right up my alley. However, this book was very disappointing. I didn't care about any of the characters, the plot wasn't that interesting, and I think the ending was terrible. I would have DNF'd had it not been that I was reading this for a challenge. Completely disappointed in this book.

Review: I was a little wary of a book about Gilead without Offred, but I enjoyed this very much. There are three different narrators: Aunt Lydia (whom we met in The Handmaid's Tale), Agnes, the daughter of a powerful Commander, and Daisy, a Canadian teenager with quirky parents. I loved how their stories intersected, and I especially loved that the book incorporates plot lines from the TV series. I wonder how season 4 of the series will play out in light of this book. I'm looking forward to it!

Review: First of all, I have to say that I hate cliff-hangers. I don't mind an overarching story that continues into the next book, but something should be resolved at the end of each individual book. Not only was nothing resolved, it all ended up in a sh*t storm. Besides that, I don't like Kiernan, one of the main characters, and I don't see the point of Kenzie coming along for the ride. I waited a long time to continue this series after the book 5, and I may not even bother to read the last one.

Review: This book is an absorbing page-turner. Plot of this extraordinary work buy Kristin Hannah is set up during World War II in France. The story primary circulates around the two sisters, Vianne and Isabelle. How they join the resistance and serve for France etc. This book is an absolute must read I would say.

Claire Randall was sent back in time by the standing stones. Leaving behind her husband and WW2 era to Jacobite Scotland. That is the story in a nutshell. There are so many things I could say about this book, to me it was amazing. The differences in people in different time periods. Being a history nerd and discussing what was happening during this time (it was a book club read). Comparing it to the TV series. I am going to continue with the series so see where Claire's story goes.

I'm so glad you liked it! The series just gets better. Check out the Starz TV series if you get a chance. The adaptation is pretty good but of course they can't fit all of DG's amazing story into a few episodes.

Review:
Carry on, Jeeves by P.G. Wodehouse is a collection of short incidents in the life of Bertie Wooster and his butler Jeeves. The stories are hilarious as usual. However its a bit monotonous in a sense that the main plot remains the same, that Bertie will get into some trouble and Jeeves will magically rescue him. Writing is excellent. I would not recommend reading the series in a single stretch. Its a kind of mood swinger I would say.

Smooth Talking Stranger

Read 11/1/19
★★★

Review: I last read a book in this series 7 years ago. Where does the time go?? Lisa Kleypas is one of my favorite authors, but I tend to enjoy her historicals more than her contemporaries. Ella Varner is asked to take care of her sister Tara's newborn baby while Tara recuperates at a fancy spa. Ella determines to find out who the baby's father is, so after hearing Tara may have hooked up with wealthy Houston playboy Jack Travis, Ella confronts Jack in his office. Not only wealthy but also physically perfect, Jack offers to help Ella with the baby, even letting her live in one of his apartment buildings. As with most CR, they fall in love incredibly fast but of course must overcome some emotional obstacles. Overall, a fast and enjoyable read.

I really really enjoyed this book, and I'm surprised by how fast I got through it. I did alternate between the audio and physical book, so I could still get reading done while driving. I wasn't sure what path this book was going to take going into it. I wanted more information on the end of the first book, this did not deliver on that front, however, it was still very good. I highly recommend to anyone! You really don't have to read the first book to get this one.
