What new ones are you looking forward to?

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments The Spiritglass Charade which I know is the second book but I did not read the first one so it is new to me.

Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy, #1) by Ilona Andrews Crescent Moon (A Nightcreature Novel) by Lori Handeland Dead for a Spell by Raymond Buckland

BTW I have no idea what Burn for Me is even about nor do I want to but I love Ilona Andrews so this one has me very excited!

I know what you mean about the Andrews book.

I was excited to see a new book from Handeland, but when I read the blurb it sounded familiar. After checking it looks like she is re-releasing it, but it is #4 in the series.

message 7: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) Hmmmm, not too much on there that's on my "must have" radar...which is a good thing because September was like gangbusters for me with new releases. Whew! Maybe I can make some headway on my already existing TBR pile.

message 8: by Angie (new)

Angie | 419 comments Amazon is showing Dead But Not Forgotten by Charlaine Harris isn't due out until November 25th. Not that I'd give that woman anymore of my money.

I'm looking forward to Broken Soul by Faith Hunter, To Hell and Back by HP Mallory, and maybe Sudden Backtrack by Kim Harrison. It worries me a little that Harrison is releasing a short story after the supposed end of the Hollows series, she's exhibiting Harris like behavior. Either a series is done or it's not, make up your mind! I still have the last two of the Hollows books to read, so hopefully she didn't exhibit even more Harris like behavior with those two. I really do need to get to reading them, but I just got The Undead Pool, thankfully after the price dropped by almost half, so I may wait a while longer to see if the last one drops too.

Wow! Thirteen is a bit much, even for a one a day person like me! As clogged up as my kindle is, I can only imagine how long your TBR list is!!

My biggest problem is I find free or 99¢, or just a couple dollars even, books and I ended up with a couple thousand books on my kindle. Most I'll probably never read, but they seemed somewhat interesting when I get them. The ones that really kill me are the special packs with 3-15 books for 99¢! Ugh! As great as it is to get such good deals, it's clogging up my kindle something fierce! And now I've been getting books from netgalley, ARCs that again seem interesting when I requested them, but I'm not sure I want to read them once I get them!

I was a beta reader for Burn for Me and it is soooooo good. If you can get only one book in October, you'll kick yourself if you don't get Burn for Me. I loved it and I read it before it was dressed up. :) I'll be reading the later version in the next week. I keep wondering, can it get any better? I'm about to see.

Yeah, that can happen. I find I'm more choosy about what I put on my tbr, usually only books I know that I will read and that are out. I have a shelf labeled not released yet, so that doesn't bog things down and then a maybe one. So my tbr usually runs between 15-30. I had it down to 9 before today, but then when I moved over the new releases I'm sitting at 19.

message 19: by Angie (new)

Angie | 419 comments I know I have several series I love that I need to catch up on, a couple books each. Then I have two or three new releases from the last couple months that I need to read, one I'm waiting for a friend so we can buddy read it. Then I have two or three netgalley ARCs to read. Then I have a couple of the multi packs that I'd like to read soon. I bought Wallbanger, to see if it's worth all the fuss that's been going on about it. Two or three new series that were cheap that I bought, including a few of Priceless (Rylee Adamson, #1) by Shannon Mayer (Rylee Adamson) from when they were on sale for $2 each. Then I found a couple series hanging around on my kindle when I was looking for something else, so I pulled them back on my kindle, since they were hanging out on the cloud.

I thought Wallbanger was funny.

Angie | 419 comments I thought the second one looked kinda blah, but the third looked good too, Screwdrivered (Cocktail, #3) by Alice Clayton I think it was. She has a few other books that looked pretty good too, but I decided to check out one before I bought a bunch of others.

I liked #2 as much as the first one, #3, good, just not as good as the first ones.

message 23: by Angie (new)

Angie | 419 comments Hmm. I'll have to check it out soon then. I thought it was strange that she went from two books with the same couple to the next book within the series being a different couple. Usually it's either all one couple or each book has a different couple, not a mix of both.

I don't think she expected the first book to be so big.

This is very weird because here on GR there are several dates.
It also seems like it is on audio. Personally she killed this series it should have ended with book 7

Yep I did the same thing. This year I am getting better at actually reading them. Honestly a lot of it is garbage but I have found a few good ones.

message 27: by Tina (new)

Tina Bartz | 678 comments The Charlaine Harris book was edited by her and is an anthology of stories, by fifteen writers chosen by her, about characters in Bon Temps. I will definitely pass on that for now and I am still glad I didn't get the "wrap up" one.

I've noticed that self published books are not popping up on B&N and Amazon until release day. I wonder if it's a self published one?

message 30: by Tina (new)

Tina Bartz | 678 comments Lisarenee, I will check back on release day. I just found (and bought!) Hakan/Severin which was released Sept 29th. I looked all over B&N for months to put it on my wish list and it evidently did not show up until it was released.

Goodreads is showing the Smashwords edition, so I think she probably is self publishing. And it is definitely the Lily Harper series. It's not showing on Amazon yet either. And be glad you waited to read them. I absolutely love HP Mallory's books, but man she can leave you on a cliffhanger!! It's definitely different from the books she's written in the past, but they've turned out pretty good. I've decided to wait on the Peyton Clark series, I've had enough of her cliff hangers for a little while, between Lily Harper and Sinjin and Bry.

The Charlaine Harris book was originally released as an audible only book. She makes me want to scream, the way she flip flopped on her own canon in the last four or five books, says everything is done, but keeps putting out random books to see how much more money she can get out of her fans. I read a review of After Dead, the one that apparently has everyone listed in alphabetical order and has what their life turned out, and the person said how horrible it was. It had random people in it, like the kids of the insurance agent that Amelia worked for for a while. No one cares about that!! And this new one is nothing but fanfiction that just happens to be written by well known authors rather than unknown fans. But since Harris put it together, it's all hunky-dory. She angers me, in case you couldn't tell ;-)

message 32: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 2046 comments I read After Dead and thought it was a rip off. I thankfully got it from the library. There were some pages with only a sentence or two written on it. You shouldn't have to pay for that.

That's pretty much what I've heard from everyone that's read it. Maybe some day I'll go to the book store and just read the few pages I'd be interested in.

I read the entire 2nd half of the series from the library and I'm totally glad I didn't waste my money buying that drivel.

Really looking forward to Archangel's Shadows (Guild Hunter, #7) by Nalini Singh Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy, #1) by Ilona Andrews Unbinding (World of the Lupi, #11) by Eileen Wilks Broken Soul (Jane Yellowrock, #8) by Faith Hunter Smiley (New Species, #13) by Laurann Dohner Foxglove Summer (Peter Grant, #5) by Ben Aaronovitch and a few others that'll come out later for me on mmp like Poison Fruit (Agent of Hel, #3) by Jacqueline Carey

Angie | 419 comments I'm trying to find something in my two million books to occupy my time until Broken Soul comes out at midnight. Guess I'll clear up my DVR, since it's almost as bad as my kindle! ;-)

That's why I get them mmp, kindle is too dear. Got the 1st & 2nd ones for about $7 and 3rd isn't out yet for preordering. I don't mind spending $7 for pb, but not for kindle. I guess I'm old-fashioned. LOL.

And if my library had them I'd go that route as well.
