2nd to None (Team 2)

You can pick a team and post in their thread asking them to choose for you. Or you can ask a specific person.

All tasks will be worth 10 points, so don't worry about strategizing for points. This is complicated enough as it is.

14 = Virginia Avenue – I was born in Virginia. Read a book that takes place in your hometown/city/county/province/state/territory/country – you get the idea. Try to get close, but don’t drive yourself insane.

31 = Sandy’s Treedome (Spongebob) – Sandy is in a world that is normally alien to squirrels. Read a book with someone who is not in their own environment – aliens on earth, humans on another planet or a spaceship. This will also include time travel – humans going back in time or into the future, dinosaurs in the present.

My number is 15:
15 = Pennsylvania Railroad – The modes of transportation are as diverse as the people who use them. Read a book where the mode of transport isn’t a car, truck, motorcycle, limo – most of the vehicles used on roadways, bicycle carts, and bicycles are ok. And no walking, unless it’s on stilts

Debra, i am in Quebec city. plenty of books that take place there. It would be an easy one for me.
There is still half our team that have not reported in, but who want to captain?
How do you want to go about select who read what task?
I am heading to another team's thread to ask about my "jail sentence ".
I can keep track of stuff.
Any other team name suggestions? I tried thinking of domething with 2 in it, but i came blank.

It's late here so my brain is having trouble coming up with 2 puns... 2 Read or Not 2 Read is just silly, because who wouldn't read? -_^ 2 Read is Divine?
I'm too far into proverb land.. "She who reads 2 books topples both" (Japanese proverb - "He who chases 2 rabbits catches neither") is waaaay too long.
Woah, I really need to get to bed....
eta: 2ward victory! ...I'm really just hoping that if I put enough bad ideas out there it'll help someone come up with a good one. ^^;;

Esther, thanks for keeping track. I can help with some things if you need me to.
Also, I didn't pick the task for the home country. But I am sure I will find something that fits. It is probably best to wait for all members to check in and throw the dice. Then each one can give their preferences of what they want to read.

4 = Walker Horde (Walking Dead) – Read a horror book. One that scares the crap out of you (or at least really creeps you out). Vampires, werewolves and witches not included here. This is for fictional horror not true life ones.

11 St. Charles Place (was Jail) Esther) reader: tbd book: tbd
14 Virginia Av. (Kazen) reader: tbd book: tbd
15 Pennsylvania railroad (Kirila) reader: tbd book: tbd
31 Sandy's Treedome..."
Hello all. I got 35. 35 = Short Line – Read a book between 150 and 200 pages long. (but note that the rules say it must be 175 pages minimum, so ... )
I'm up for reading #15 - the transportation one. I've got The River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey to read for book club in November. It's about Roosevelt navigating the Amazon. I'm assuming he didn't take a car, truck, motorcycle, or limo.
I could also do # 4 - horror. I've got The Thirteenth Tale to read for book club in October. That one's shorter. It might be easier to finish.
Or ... I could do #11 - saints/Genevieve the saint of disaster and read They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky: The Story of Three Lost Boys from Sudan.
I nominate Esther as team leader since she's already got us all organized.
And then, I'd like to suggest we name our team Lucky Lizzie's Line-up as a nod to the original game creator Lizzie Phillips. (source wikipedia!)

I'm up for reading:
5 = Reading Railroad –> Reading Rainbow - A little nod to last year’s annual challenge. Read a book with at least three colors of the rainbow on the cover, in the title, or a combination of both.
9 = Talosians (Star Trek Limited Edition) – The classic original series led to movies and spinoffs, and this episode won a Hugo award. Read a classic, or a book you believe should be a classic (and justify why).
18 = Kew Palace (Monarchopoly) – Read a historical fiction book that features an actual historical person.
19 = New York Avenue – New York City is apparently popular with vampires. Read a book with vampires, and/or werewolves, and/or witches.

I "rolled" a 12.
12 = Electric Company – Our lives are so dependent on electricity that we are lost without it. Read a book that takes place before the power of electricity was harnessed.

4 = Walker Horde (Walking Dead) – Read a horror book. One that scares the crap out of you (or at least really creeps you out). Vampires, werewolves and witches not included here. This is for fictional horrors, not true life ones.
11 = St. Charles Place – Saints preserve us! Pick a Saint from the following list and read a book about one of their causes. http://people.howstuffworks.com/10-li...

36 = Feeling Lucky?

oups.. should not do things before coffee....

How about co-captaining? Sarah or Kirila? As you are both on a different time zone than I, it would be great.
I can do: 12, 14, 31 (assuming Flint's 1632 series fits), 35 with books I have in my TBR.
we shall see what 36 brings us.... ;)

Also "Lucky Lizzie's Line-up " sounds good as a team name.
I am good with any of the numbers we have drawn. Let me know which one you need for me to read and I will find a qualifying book and jump on it.
Go team!

Hee hee ; ) Isn't this game amazing?!! I'm loving it!!

Tales With O...
Team Written Oath
Tricky Witchy Octopplers
Topplers Watching O.....
Someone more creative than I can surely figure something out!

Esther, I can co-captain with you. I have never helped with organising anything in this group so I would like to try :)
I would prefer to take 31 - and read The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. It is short so a quick read.

4 - Thing Two, Debra, Kimey
11 - Thing Two, Helen, Kimey
12 - Esther, Helen
14 - Esther, Helen
15 - Thing Two, Helen, Sarah, Kimey
20 - Thing Two, Debra, Helen. Esther, Kirila, Kimey
31 - Esther, Kirila, Helen, Sarah, Kimey
35 - Esther, Kirila, Helen, Sarah, Kimey

Team Written Oath
Tricky Witchy Octopplers
2 Hot 2 Handle (suggested by another team)
Here's 2 Lizzie
2 Read is Divine
She who reads 2 books topples both
2ward victory

So Kirila can be co captain.
Still don't know what my 36 will bring us, just took a look at tasks we have so far. I wouldn't mind doing one of these:
15, 31 or 35

Oh no, Sarah. I'm sorry, but you are not feeling lucky today.
You spilled your drink on a book - lose 10 points
Since you son't have a task, generate another number."

My new number is 30: Go To Jail – someone from another team chooses what space to send you to
Great.. not much luck for me so far. I'll go ask a team to choose a space for me.

Hey, Sarah! You finally caught a break! Thanks goes out to Team 4.

Ooo, 2nd to None is a great name! 2ward Victory works, too. :)

Take me out of the horror category; I'll keep you posted on the chill-factor. I scare easily. So, #15 or #11 for me.
My vote for name is Here's 2 Lizzie or Lizzie's Lucky Lineup

KimeyDiann - 4
Thing Two - 11
Esther - 12
Helen - 14
Debra - 15
Kazen - 20
Kirila - 31
Sarah - 35
