You can pick a team and post in their thread asking them to choose for you. Or you can ask a specific person.

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments The "Do you feel lucky, Punk?" spaces are my version of chance and community chest. I have card comments and I use the fruit machine to see which card you draw. Some of them have you move somewhere else, and some don't. If they don't, I will tell you what your card says, and then tell you to generate another number. Top Hatt3rs won 10 points when they landed on Feel Lucky!

All tasks will be worth 10 points, so don't worry about strategizing for points. This is complicated enough as it is.

message 7: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Hi all! I got 14:

14 = Virginia Avenue – I was born in Virginia. Read a book that takes place in your hometown/city/county/province/state/territory/country – you get the idea. Try to get close, but don’t drive yourself insane.

message 8: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I got 31

31 = Sandy’s Treedome (Spongebob) – Sandy is in a world that is normally alien to squirrels. Read a book with someone who is not in their own environment – aliens on earth, humans on another planet or a spaceship. This will also include time travel – humans going back in time or into the future, dinosaurs in the present.

message 9: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments So we need a team name like "Feeling Lucky" and we need a captain. Anyone up for the job?

message 10: by Kirila (new)

Kirila | 660 comments Hi team! I was away from goodreads for 12 hours and so much has happened!

My number is 15:
15 = Pennsylvania Railroad – The modes of transportation are as diverse as the people who use them. Read a book where the mode of transport isn’t a car, truck, motorcycle, limo – most of the vehicles used on roadways, bicycle carts, and bicycles are ok. And no walking, unless it’s on stilts

message 11: by Debra (last edited Sep 29, 2014 12:01AM) (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Esther, what country do you call home? We've got a diverse crowd so far. Japan, Switzerland, and USA are in the house!

message 12: by Kirila (last edited Sep 29, 2014 01:25PM) (new)

Kirila | 660 comments I am actually from Bulgaria, just living and working in Switzerland. That also makes it quite hard for me to do 14 because I don't have any matching books at home and I doubt the library has anything :)

message 13: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments That's cool, Kirlia. I'm sure someone will land on a number you can do.

message 14: by Esther (last edited Sep 29, 2014 04:51AM) (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments Kirila, rules says you do not do the task you pick.

Debra, i am in Quebec city. plenty of books that take place there. It would be an easy one for me.

There is still half our team that have not reported in, but who want to captain?
How do you want to go about select who read what task?

I am heading to another team's thread to ask about my "jail sentence ".

I can keep track of stuff.

Any other team name suggestions? I tried thinking of domething with 2 in it, but i came blank.

message 15: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments Theresa (team 3) sent me to 11 = St. Charles Place .

message 16: by Kazen (last edited Sep 29, 2014 05:09AM) (new)

Kazen I'm new to the group and to Topplers so I'm not sure I would make the best captain. :/

It's late here so my brain is having trouble coming up with 2 puns... 2 Read or Not 2 Read is just silly, because who wouldn't read? -_^ 2 Read is Divine?

I'm too far into proverb land.. "She who reads 2 books topples both" (Japanese proverb - "He who chases 2 rabbits catches neither") is waaaay too long.

Woah, I really need to get to bed....

eta: 2ward victory! ...I'm really just hoping that if I put enough bad ideas out there it'll help someone come up with a good one. ^^;;

message 17: by Kirila (new)

Kirila | 660 comments Kazen, your suggestions are awesome :)

Esther, thanks for keeping track. I can help with some things if you need me to.

Also, I didn't pick the task for the home country. But I am sure I will find something that fits. It is probably best to wait for all members to check in and throw the dice. Then each one can give their preferences of what they want to read.

Helen Southall (hsouthall) | 181 comments Just rolled a four

4 = Walker Horde (Walking Dead) – Read a horror book. One that scares the crap out of you (or at least really creeps you out). Vampires, werewolves and witches not included here. This is for fictional horror not true life ones.

Hello all. I got 35. 35 = Short Line – Read a book between 150 and 200 pages long. (but note that the rules say it must be 175 pages minimum, so ... )

I'm up for reading #15 - the transportation one. I've got The River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey to read for book club in November. It's about Roosevelt navigating the Amazon. I'm assuming he didn't take a car, truck, motorcycle, or limo.

I could also do # 4 - horror. I've got The Thirteenth Tale to read for book club in October. That one's shorter. It might be easier to finish.

Or ... I could do #11 - saints/Genevieve the saint of disaster and read They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky: The Story of Three Lost Boys from Sudan.

I nominate Esther as team leader since she's already got us all organized.

And then, I'd like to suggest we name our team Lucky Lizzie's Line-up as a nod to the original game creator Lizzie Phillips. (source wikipedia!)

message 20: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Hi. I rolled a 36. Not feeling so lucky. I'll go let Jmom know.

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments I haven't read any books in some time so hoping to get a few books in before the toppler. I think I'll just opt for 1 book for the toppler, but if I manage to do that alright then I may try for 2 books.

I'm up for reading:
5 = Reading Railroad –> Reading Rainbow - A little nod to last year’s annual challenge. Read a book with at least three colors of the rainbow on the cover, in the title, or a combination of both.

9 = Talosians (Star Trek Limited Edition) – The classic original series led to movies and spinoffs, and this episode won a Hugo award. Read a classic, or a book you believe should be a classic (and justify why).

18 = Kew Palace (Monarchopoly) – Read a historical fiction book that features an actual historical person.

19 = New York Avenue – New York City is apparently popular with vampires. Read a book with vampires, and/or werewolves, and/or witches.

message 22: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Oh and just to note, I don't mind planning anything, I enjoy organising charts and tables so let me know if I can help in any way Esther =]

message 23: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments Hi all! This is my first toppler and I'm excited! I will go ahead and apologize if I bombard you all with questions.

I "rolled" a 12.

12 = Electric Company – Our lives are so dependent on electricity that we are lost without it. Read a book that takes place before the power of electricity was harnessed.

message 24: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I'll volunteer to read a horror book. It's my favorite genre and I've a few on my bookshelf to read.

message 25: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments So we have:

4 = Walker Horde (Walking Dead) – Read a horror book. One that scares the crap out of you (or at least really creeps you out). Vampires, werewolves and witches not included here. This is for fictional horrors, not true life ones.

11 = St. Charles Place – Saints preserve us! Pick a Saint from the following list and read a book about one of their causes. http://people.howstuffworks.com/10-li...

12 = Electric Company – Our lives are so dependent on electricity that we are lost without it. Read a book that takes place before the power of electricity was harnessed.

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments I updated message 2. Only unknown is Sarah's "Lucky". This will wait until Janxmom comes back online.

How about co-captaining? Sarah or Kirila? As you are both on a different time zone than I, it would be great.

I can do: 12, 14, 31 (assuming Flint's 1632 series fits), 35 with books I have in my TBR.

we shall see what 36 brings us.... ;)

message 28: by Helen (new)

Helen Southall (hsouthall) | 181 comments I'm good with Esther as team leader if she accepts our "begging" request to do so.

Also "Lucky Lizzie's Line-up " sounds good as a team name.

I am good with any of the numbers we have drawn. Let me know which one you need for me to read and I will find a qualifying book and jump on it.

Go team!

message 29: by Debra (last edited Sep 29, 2014 12:16PM) (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments "Here's 2 Lizzie" would incorporate our team #. I like the idea of a tribute to Lizzie!

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments No name yet, Team Two? Maybe you're 2 Hot 2 Handle.

Hee hee ; ) Isn't this game amazing?!! I'm loving it!!

message 31: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments For our team name (we are the only team without one so far!), I'm thinking something to do with The T.W.O.'s, but I'm not having a lot of luck coming up with what each letter can stand for...
Tales With O...
Team Written Oath
Tricky Witchy Octopplers
Topplers Watching O.....
Someone more creative than I can surely figure something out!

message 32: by Kirila (last edited Sep 29, 2014 01:33PM) (new)

Kirila | 660 comments Haha, I love Tricky Witchy Octopplers :))

Esther, I can co-captain with you. I have never helped with organising anything in this group so I would like to try :)

I would prefer to take 31 - and read The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. It is short so a quick read.

message 33: by Kirila (last edited Sep 29, 2014 09:41PM) (new)

Kirila | 660 comments Until we get the 36 task, everybody can say there preferences. So far we have the following:

4 - Thing Two, Debra, Kimey
11 - Thing Two, Helen, Kimey
12 - Esther, Helen
14 - Esther, Helen
15 - Thing Two, Helen, Sarah, Kimey
20 - Thing Two, Debra, Helen. Esther, Kirila, Kimey
31 - Esther, Kirila, Helen, Sarah, Kimey
35 - Esther, Kirila, Helen, Sarah, Kimey

message 34: by Kirila (new)

Kirila | 660 comments And here are our current name suggestions:

Team Written Oath
Tricky Witchy Octopplers
2 Hot 2 Handle (suggested by another team)
Here's 2 Lizzie
2 Read is Divine
She who reads 2 books topples both
2ward victory

message 35: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments I quite like 2ward victory =D Great job with the name's Kirila. Okay well I have organised 2 previous team topplers, so I don't mind being a cheerleader for a change and make some use of my photo bucket account =]

So Kirila can be co captain.

Still don't know what my 36 will bring us, just took a look at tasks we have so far. I wouldn't mind doing one of these:
15, 31 or 35

message 36: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments I'm good for anything except the electric avenue, I don't think I have anything that fits that one on my tbr.

Oh no, Sarah. I'm sorry, but you are not feeling lucky today.

You spilled your drink on a book - lose 10 points

Since you son't have a task, generate another number.

message 38: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Oh no, I lost us 10 points =[ booo

My new number is 30: Go To Jail – someone from another team chooses what space to send you to

Great.. not much luck for me so far. I'll go ask a team to choose a space for me.

message 39: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments We have discussed Sarah's request within Team 4 the Win, and we believe she deserves a break, so our pick for her is "20 = Free Parking – OK, you can read a book of your choice."

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments Updated the 2nd message. I am ok with any name really.

message 41: by Debra (new)

message 42: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Just a note to Thing Two: The Thirteenth Tale isn't a horror book. It's really a mystery. I loved it and it's definitely a must-read, but won't give you the chills.

Ooo, 2nd to None is a great name! 2ward Victory works, too. :)

Take me out of the horror category; I'll keep you posted on the chill-factor. I scare easily. So, #15 or #11 for me.

My vote for name is Here's 2 Lizzie or Lizzie's Lucky Lineup

message 49: by Thing Two (new)

Thing Two (thingtwo) How does this look for y'all?

KimeyDiann - 4
Thing Two - 11
Esther - 12

Kazen - 20
Kirila - 31
Sarah - 35
