Fly by Night - I'm currently reading this. I've found lots of good snippets but haven't found any longer sections yet that would make sense on their own. The writing is fantastic, very Lemony Snicket , speaking of which...
The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket - I read this series a long time ago, so I don't remember any specific pieces from it, but I'm sure they're in there.
The Raven Boys - A more recent read, but again the question is finding a long enough piece that can stand alone.
One of James Thurber 's short stories - I read a collection of them and, like many short pieces, they're very concise and thought provoking, which is the perfect combination for Forensics.
The Hobbit - always a favorite. Although I wish I could, I'm not sure I could quite pull off the Bilbo and Smaug conversation... perhaps there's another good scene for Forensics that does not involve reading more than three voices?
Code Name Verity - The beauty of this book (in the Forensics department, that is) is that most of it is monologue- no voice differentiation, hurrah!
Dealing with Dragons - If you haven't read it and liked Gail Carson Levine's books, you must. I'm betting one of the dialogue sections from this would be great.
The View from Saturday - Again, I need to reread it and look for a piece.
If anyone remembers any good pieces from these books or has more suggestions, please comment!
