When did you want to start? I might be up for it but I don't think I would be able to start quite that early.

I don't think I will have a copy on the 10th though I 'm first in queue. Would the 20th work for you? If I don't have a copy by then I 'll shout out and we can pick a different day.

If we need to delay because one or the other doesn't have a copy I 'm okay with that.

Stacey, tomorrow is the 20th and I don’t have a copy yet of the book. I’m still first in queue but according to my library account the book is being ordered and isn’t in transit yet. Do you mind waiting a little longer?

No, that is fine. Just let me know when you are ready.

I'm ready whenever you are. I probably won't get much done in the next 2 days, but can read some and will have time after.

message 67: by Laura (new)

Laura | 9707 comments How about if we try for 5 chapters over the next 2 days and then go from there. The thread is up. See you there. Merry Christmas

message 69: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1895 comments I just got The Priory of the Orange Tree and The Starless Sea for the holidays. Would anyone like to buddy read either of these sometime in 2020? I could start in January?

message 70: by Devann (new)

Devann (devannm) | 2778 comments would anyone be interested in doing a year-long buddy read of The Weird: A Compendium of Strange and Dark Stories for 2020? it's got 110 horror short stories so i thought it would be a good one to spread out since it's not like you would have to worry about forgetting what happened at the beginning like you would with one long story.

message 71: by Devann (new)

Devann (devannm) | 2778 comments ok claudia and cathy said they would BR with me so mods can we get a thread for The Weird A Compendium of Strange and Dark Stories by Jeff VanderMeer for 1/1 or just mark it as a year long 2020 buddy ready or however you want to do it

i'd love to get some more people in as well. it's got 110 short horror stories in it and they move chronologically from 1908 to 2010 when the book was published. there's a lot of big name authors on there as well as many that i personally haven't heard of.

I am in for Priory! :-)

When would you like to start?

Starless Sea is a BOM for January, so you could join that one? (I haven't got a copy of it yet, waiting for a normal sized paperback edition, or I'd be all over that BOM hehe.)

message 74: by Alanna (new)

Alanna | 7 comments I'm also in for Priory! What a chunker; I don't think I'll finish it without a reason.

message 75: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1895 comments Oh! I am very excited that people are in for Priory! I also need a group to keep me focused on that one. I guess we'll be doing weight training every time we pick it up. I joined the BOM for Starless Sea (Thanks Eldarwen!) I've never done one before, so I'd like to start this after that. I could start any time after January 24, maybe even January 20, but I am open to start later too - February 1, whenever! What are you both up for?

Haha, I bought a digital copy when it was on sale so I wouldn't have to lift the hardback. Also, I'm 85 pages from the end of Starless Sea, what a coincidence!

I'm open to whenever, though I'd ask not the 20th itself--that's my birthday and I have it off from work for MLK Day! I plan to read a bunch of smaller books that day since I'll be home alone.

February is fine for me as well - whatever works best for you guys!

Haha, yes, weight training is definitely going to be a thing with that one!! But I do love a nice big book :-D And I've been meaning to read this one for a while now but other things kept getting in the way.
