I just received this interview link with Hoover and GR!!https://www.goodreads.com/interviews/...
Interesting!
Stacey, tomorrow is the 20th and I don’t have a copy yet of the book. I’m still first in queue but according to my library account the book is still being ordered and isn’t in transit yet. Do you mind waiting a little longer?
How are you coming along? I’m only in chapter 3 but will get more done today. Definitely feel like there is more going on with the ‘forbidden’ boy than what we know so far
I finished chapter 3. I wonder what Morgan is going to do to feel more productive? It seems strange that Jonah moved away and now appears back in their lives but I suspect it was too hard for him seeing Chris and Morgan having a child and getting married when he cared for her.(and still does)
Looking forward to reading more.
I finished chapter 5. I think Chris and Jenny were having an affair. I also think Jonah left 17 years ago because he found out then and wanted to tell Morgan but couldn't fit whatever reason.
Morgan is in a difficult position.... I wonder if she keeps this from Clara or tells her?
I'm going to read a few more chapters and hope we end up in the same spot.
What do you think of the characters so far?
I am in chapter6 now. I agree, I think Chris and Jenny were having an affair. I thought Jonah left because he liked Morgan and left once she and Chris got married for the baby. I feel for Morgan and hope she figures out what she wants.
I'm not far ahead. I'm somewhere in chapter 7. At this point in time I feel for Morgan. She lost both her husband and sister at the same time and is trying to keep it together for her and Clara.
Just finished chapter 8. I definitely get why Morgan won’t tell Clara about 2 of her favorite people. Curious to see how the other relationships will pan out.
I finished chapter 7(view spoiler)
This is just one big drama after another. I 'm not sure what I think of this book. Hoover is writing about the one topic that drives me crazy as I dislike reading books about adultery/cheating. She creates such vivid imagery and emotions that I can't help to like it .. just a little. After 7 chapters in I ' m invested and need to see how this ends.
I finally had some free time and read up to chapter 13. I'll wait until you catch up before I read more. (view spoiler)
I just finished chapter 13. I really do like Miller but I wonder what the real reason is for Chris not wanting them to know each other. I just feel like there is more to it.
How are you doing on the book? I read a lot yesterday and am close to the end. I like Miller more and more as well as Morgan. Clara is harder but she is more like a typical teen. I do like that she is written more realistically.
I finished. Despite it being my least favorite theme I did enjoy the book. I like Hoover's books. She invokes such emotion... at least this time I didn't messy cry ( like I usually do)(view spoiler)
I gave it a 5 star, what did you think? Thanks so much for reading this with me Stacey. Is there anything else you would be interested in buddy reading?
Wow. Glad I read it, wouldn't have been one I picked out myself (which is what I was looking for). I really didn't like it in the beginning. The twists and shocks were huge, some predictable and maybe slightly over the top. In the end I liked it a lot but was waiting to see if there was one more big reveal. I loved Morgan and Clara. (view spoiler)
I gave it 4 stars. Thank you for suggesting. I will definitely be a bit slower once I'm back at work but need to keep reading. I am starting Tomi Adeyemi's Children of Blood and Bone and will have to pick something out for listening in the car. I'm thinking of maybe Tana French's The Witch Elm or Amy Meyerson's The Bookshop of Yesterdays.

I was able to get Children of Blood and Bone from my overdrive account and I put holds on the other two books but I probably won't get them until Thursday. Tana French is a favorite author of mine but I saw mixed reviews of The Witch Elm so it might be nice to read with a buddy? I have no preference either way and I 'd be up for reading all or however many you like.
Happy New Year!
Which would you prefer, Children of Blood and Bone or Witch Elm? I have the book already for Children of Blood and Bone and will be reading it. It is a bit longer than some and a push would be good. I love Tana French and I can get this now through Overdrive. It has been available for a while so I don't think it will change. I know the Likeness also had mixed reviews and I still liked it even though I could understand the complaints. There are always questions in her books that could be good to discuss.
I think I will be reading both (I usually have 1 book and 1 audiobook going at a time). If you want to join, pick whichever one you think would be most interesting.

Synopsis
From #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us comes a poignant novel about family, first love, grief, and betrayal that will touch the hearts of both mothers and daughters.
Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, would like nothing more than to be nothing alike.
Morgan is determined to prevent her daughter from making the same mistakes she did. By getting pregnant and married way too young, Morgan put her own dreams on hold. Clara doesn’t want to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Her predictable mother doesn’t have a spontaneous bone in her body.
With warring personalities and conflicting goals, Morgan and Clara find it increasingly difficult to coexist. The only person who can bring peace to the household is Chris—Morgan’s husband, Clara’s father, and the family anchor. But that peace is shattered when Chris is involved in a tragic and questionable accident. The heartbreaking and long-lasting consequences will reach far beyond just Morgan and Clara.
While struggling to rebuild everything that crashed around them, Morgan finds comfort in the last person she expects to, and Clara turns to the one boy she’s been forbidden to see. With each passing day, new secrets, resentment, and misunderstandings make mother and daughter fall further apart. So far apart, it might be impossible for them to ever fall back together.
