Right now, I'm considering either The Abbot's Ghost, or Maurice Treherne's Temptation A Christmas Story or Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit. Although, I might make it easy (or harder) on myself and finish Orange Is the New Black which I abandoned several months ago. I'd read about half before giving up.
October words would be: ghost or orange

I read Halloween Night on Shivermore street earlier and it had to do with a Halloween party with mummies, vampires, witches and more. It was a pretty good children's picture book.
I could do a double whammy and do 'Orange is the New Black'. Or I could finally tick off 'A Clockwork Orange'... Decisions...
I was also considering A Clockwork Orange, but it's one of those books that I THINK I've already read. So many books, so little memory. :p
Hmm, maybe I'll go for Operation Red Jericho for this. I need more books with October-related titles! :P
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn certainly fits the Halloween theme and a must read if you like a dark, thriller/mystery. I loved the no-nonsense Libby who was the protagonist and I was in awe in how she could get bitchy from 0-50 in a couple of seconds when people asked stupid questions. This was by far my favorite Flynn novel.
Finished Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes, this is a spooky relationship thriller. I was reluctant to turn the pages about the middle of the book and had to call my sister (who requested this book) and tell her my innards were in a puddle. Of course she just laughed and said, "just keep reading." Oh, sisters! Spooky!!!
Also finished A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness today. A child's worst nightmare indeed and a must read!
And on that wolf-y note... I am reading Howl's Moving Castle which I keep thinking belongs here since I just have a mental picture of a wolf howling in front a full moon
Oh, yeah! Good catch, Sandy! Melissa has been having her own little Creep-Fest! Go, Elvira, Queen of the Night!
Done!
I read The Abbot's Ghost, or Maurice Treherne's Temptation A Christmas Story.
A fun read. Entirely predictable, but still delightful.

It was okay, but I also had trouble getting into it, especially the bits about boxing. It picks up more near the end.
Finished Chibi Vampire, Vol. 01. I think it fits the Halloween theme nicely. It has vampire in the title and the manga is focused on the life of a young girl and her vampire family.

From October 1 to October 31.
Mission: Find and read one book with a word or words in the title that are somehow associated with the October experience. This could mean Halloween, Octoberfest, Columbus Day, Autumn, etc. Whatever October means to you. Also, the book doesn't have to be about theme. So, an "Octoberfest" book could be Beer in the Snooker Club.
Any genre is welcome. I'm going to create a spot just under this for words related to October as I think of them, but feel free to come up with your own. Finding the books is part of the fun! :D
Please include something about the "October Connection" in your post, so we can all enjoy your creativity. :)
